The first books that I can remember enjoying were "The Magic Treehouse" series. But thats not really important right now.
Sometime after that I discovered "The Series of Unfortunate Events." They fascinated me from the beginning. The countless secrets and mystery and subplots. I think I could read each of the books 10 times and still be missing something! I keep researching trying to find answers to what happened in these books. Trying to track down my favorite quotes. Trying to understand this author.
Recently I bought a book called "Why We Broke Up" by Daniel Handler, who wrote a well known series under the pen name Lemony Snicket (Which happens to rhyme with Jiminy Cricket" wink . Its not really a good book so far, but maybe it will get better, I hope.
In any case Ive been going through TSOUE again (im at book 5 at the present, things are heating up you know) and as always it just leaves me with questions. So I go online and look up stuff. Which gives me more questions. Who is baby Beatrice's father? What happened to the Quagmires? What is this about another childrens series with some overlap of TSOUE?
My research lead me to a fansite that had some interviews with snicket/handler. The snicket ones were . .. angryish. When asked if there would be sequel to the movie he said the the first was dreadful and another would be, as sequels usually are, much worse. The handler ones wore just plain disturbing. He giggled a lot, talked of high school murder, and seemed over all insane,
So all in all, this guy is crazy. Very bright, but disturbed. I have this bizzare notion that by reading someones books, I know them. But that is so so so wrong. I'm confused. And I like Lemony Snicket more than Daniel Handler. But then again, I like Lewis Carroll more than Charles Dodgson, so maybe its not so strange after all.
Well, I'm rambling. Good thing no one reads this blasted thing.
