Melody of the Pheonix
Verse 1. Battle of the Resistance
Becoming a part of the resistance takes time, paitance, and plenty of training. But, for Jin he had been part of the resistance since his early childhood. As far as he could remember he was killing men for the resistance. However, when he reached the age of 10, he disappeared when he and a few others left to go to a battle. Many believe that the young man was killed during the battle. However, 3 years later someone claimed that the young man was alive and had once saved his family from the Revald Army. Since then people have claimed that a young man by his description had been going around to different cities, towns, and villages and saving them from the both sides of the war. The Kingdom of Revald had then declared the name Wind Blade to the young man for the way he struck at his enemies like the wind striking the trees in a harmonious flow. Though he used to fight for the resistance he now is an enemy for both sides. For now he dosen't think either side is moraly correct.
"Or at least that's what I've heard. Rachel, were you listening?" A young girl of 15 with short blonde hair and green eyes, wearing a light battle outfit used by ninjas for fast movement, and two ninja scythes on each side of her waist was talking to her friend. The other girl, by the name of Rachel turned to the other and nodded to her. "Of course I was, Tonya," Rachel said back to her friend. Rachel was 16 year old girl, whom had long brunnett hair that was tied back in a ponytail with a black ribbon and blue eyes. She wore a black light silk battle outfit, and her weapon of choice was a staff that was on her back. The were in the middle of a giant war camp for the resistance. They been part of it for awhile, but they had to go through training for many years. This was to be their first battle outside of the training room.
Suddenly a man came out of a nearby tent and noticed the girls speaking. "YOU TWO!" The man yelled out them. The two girls stood intention as he walked over to them. He was elderly man with grey hair and beard. He wore the resistance general outfit and carried a sword on is right side. He walked up to them and looked at them. "You two are the new recruits right. I'm General Hozamar." "We know who you are grandpa." Tonya said to him. The man then placed a hand on Tonya's head and said, "Good to see you both graduated from training. I hope you two will do your best on the up coming battle." "Of course we will." Rachel said to the old man. "Don't worry too much about us. We're not to worried. We were trained and were the best in our training squad." "Well, that's good. I'll need you to be our top best." "Of course." They both said at the sametime. "Alright well I got to go discuss strategy with another general. See you girls on the battle field. "
Hozamar arrived at a tent a few seconds later and walked in to find that the others were already waiting for them. "Good to see you here. I need everyone's attention." He then walked over and stood in front of a map and the others gathered around too. "Alright. So, the Revald army as stationed themselves here," he said pointing at a nearby clearing that was on the map. "Our army is to surround them and take them down. We need to deliver this blow to them to insure that we get ahead in the battle. We can then take the supplies they have and sneak into the castle and deliver the final blow. " "If I may intervene," a man said from the corner. Hozamar looked up to see a young man with flamming red hair, wearing a leutinant's unimform. "Leutinant Blaze. You have a suggestion."
"Yes sir. I think we should have a second group at the ready. It would be a good idea to use them as a reinforcement group," Blaze said to the elder man. Hozamar looked at him and said, "Interesting, and how would we single them?" "We'll send a flare up to the sky. That will signal them to attack." "Alright then. Any objections." No one spoke, which meant everyone was okay with the tactic. "Very well, split the army in half and send some in the woods for reinforcements. Alright then let us begin."
Rachel and Tonya were waiting near the entrance. Many people seemed to be ready for the upcoming battle. "This is going to be a great battle." Tonya said outloud. Rachel smiled at her. "You sure are excited." "Of course I am. We're going to show those idiots why they should have never had killed our prince." Rachel nodded at her, but then suddenly got a strange feeling. It was feeling of dread and hatered. Tonya looked at her friend and said, "Hey what's that loook for?" Rachel snapped out of it and said, "Oh, I'm sorry just thinking about the battle." Tonya looked at her friend as if saying, "your lying." "Alright, well I have a feeling. Like something bad is about to happen." Tonya looked at her friend worried, but then said, "It's just your imagination." Rachel looked at her and said, "Yeah your right. I'm just over thinking this."
"Alright. I need all the recruits and junior members to join me. " A voice said out loud. The girls to see one of the Leutinants motioning them and a few others to the front. They soon ran over to see Blaze. Once everyone was in place he began to speak. "Alright listen up. We are going to charge into the enemies camp and take control of it. We'll split into two teams. The Juniors will follow my orders. We'll be infiltrating the enemies camp and taking control of it. With this blow to the enemy, we should be able to get their weapons and clothes, and strike them from within the inside ending the war once and for all." The crowd cheered in celebration that this would be the last battle of the war after 24 years.
The girls looked at each other smiling knowing that even though they had only just begun, the war at least would be over. They were happy that they would be here to fight in the final battle. Suddenly a voice shouted out to them. "TONYA!" They turned to see Hozamar coming toward them. "Tonya, I need to speak to you." He then took her over to Blaze. Rachel could only watch from this distance as the old man and Blaze began to, what she could tell, nogitiate. After a few minutes later Hozamar returned without Tonya. "What happened General?" "It's nothing important. I just needed Tonya to be the courier in case they needed to send word to us." Rachel looked to her friend wondering if she would be ok on her own. After all since they were little they have been fighting together. Now they were going to be seperated she wondered how this would effect their fighting strategies.
Once Hozamar returned he turned to his crew. It was time for his pre-battle-speech he gave before every fight. "Alright listen up," he said as the crowd remained silent. "As you may know, we are not only doing this to win the war, but for the right of the true King. The prince may not be here with us today, but he lives on through our grace and loyalty. I want everyone to stand and fight for what is rightfully ours. Our freedom is only one battle way. Lets show them our true fighting spirit." The men and women cheered as he ended his speech. Rachel was feeling really excited now. The battle was surely going to shift the tide of the war.
Darkness soon fell over the forest as the resistance army arrived at thier destination. They were next to the armies base and were soon ready to get going. However, something was unsettling once Rachel was there. She couldn't help, but feel the same way she did when she last spoke with Tonya. The feeling of fear that something was about to happen swept over her like roaring tide over a swimmer. She wanted to tell Hozamar, to warn him, of the feeling that she had. However, she didn't think he would listen at this point. They were already there.
Hozamar looked down at the camp to determine when to attack. But, as he did he noticed that the camp was rather quite. However, a man in a guards uniform stepped out of a tent and started pacing around. Hozamar gave orders for the group to split silently as they branched out to surround the area. They all began to spread out, Rachel going along with Hozamar, however more people were starting to come out of the tents from all directions.
Rachel turned to see Hozamar rise and look worringly toward the spot. He then turned to her and Rachel nodded. She knew then that he was worried about Tonya as well. Both of them jumped up out of their hiding spot and Hozamar gave the command, "CHARGE!" Men and women came out of the woods charging at the armies base.
At the same time People started to come out of the many tents in the camp, and when they saw the army coming at them they raised their weapons ready for the assault. Rachel ran down toward the camp pulling out her staff. She was one of the first to get into the heat of the battle as she was suddenly surrounded by both sides. Once in the middle she swung her staff around hitting several Revald army members hard. A man ran up trying to stab at her, but she lifted her staff up blocking the attack. She then gave a twist to her staff sending the sword flying, before she spun around gave the man a good kick to the chest.
Hozamar was watching her for a moment surprised on how well she was doing on her own. He then turned to the fight and decided to join in as well. He pulled out a rapier and ran into the battle. Several people ran at him, but he knew they were no match for him. He quickly sent a wave of jabs at the enemy. Some were hit and fell, but the others blocked them. Hozamar then started to take them on.
The battle ran on for some time, and it looked like the resistance was the one to be victorious. Rachel was doing well herself as she took down the 38th guy that had decided to take her on. As she turned to see if anyone else was going to take her on the feeling of dread came over her once more. "What is this feeling," she thought to herself. Suddenly everything began to slow down as if time was allowing her too over see what was going on. She looked around watching the fight, Hozamar was doing well with one of the Revald generals. The men and women were fighting well against the army.
It was too easy. Then it hit her. Where was Blaze's group? Now that she looked around trying to see if she saw any of the junior members in the battle. But, she only could see the people from the group they came in with. What was going on? Where was Blaze's Group? What happened to Tonya?
Rachel turned to see that Hozamar was just getting finished with his fight and ran over to him. As soon as he killed the general that Rachel spoke out to him. "Hozamar we must run." Hozamar turned to face her with a look of surprise on his face. "What was that," he asked trying to make sure he heard her right. "I think we need to retreat." Hozamar stared at her and said, "You must be mistaken girl. We're winning this..." "No we are not," She said to him. "Don't you think it's odd that our group is the only one fighting out on the battle field? What happened to the other group?"
Hozamar stopped and looked at the girl, before he turned and stared at the group. Soon he began to understand what Rachel was saying to him. "Your right. We are the only one out on the battlefield." Rachel stood there for a moment as she watched him pull out a flare gun. "We must summon the rest of the group." He said refering to the Senior members. He then pointed it at the sky and fired.
Rachel and him stood there for a moment watching the area where the others should be coming from. However, everything went wrong as more of the Revald Army suddenly came out and charged them. "No way!" Hozamar said as the new recruits were suddenly charged at. "RETREAT!" He screamed and he grabbed hold of Rachel. However, as they turned to run more Revald men came out surrounding the whole group. "Drop your weapons!" They said out loud. Rachel and Hozamar looked around as if determining whether to fight or not.
But, in the end they threw their weapons down. Everyone in the resistance was now throwing down their weapons as well. They were then led to the middle of the camp and pushed down onto the ground. A man as old as Hozamar then walked out and faced them. "Well well," he said looking down at them. "If it isn't the resistance scum. And, I see that General Hozamar is with them." "General Towan. I thought I smelled a dirty rat," Hozamar said in return. Towan smiled down at them with a nasty smile and said, "I believe you are not in the position to speak in such a way. I could have you killed in a millisecond."
Rachel and the old man watched him as he walked around them and the others. Towan then turned to them and said, "Now, you will give into our demands." "Why should we," Hozamar asked now looking around for an escape, but not finding one. Towan then turned to them and said, "Because I'll kill you on the spot for this obssesion of yours. Now you will join us or you will die. Easy." "I prefer to be killed," Hozamar said now looking at him with disgust. Towan smiled at him and pulled out his sword. "As you wish." He then struck at the back of his ready to end it.
However, someone had something else in mind. Someone in a black hood jumped down and blocked the attack and then kicked at Towan. Towan fell and soon looked up in surprised. "Who are you," the he asked the man. The figure stood there looking around then held up a wooden sword and swung up in a verticle direction sending the men that was standing to his right...flying? He then switched hands and sent the other side flying as well. "WHAT IN THE WORLD," Towan said out loud in surprise.
Rachel and Hozamar stood there watching in surprise. The figure then turned and struck at the people behind them with a horizontal slash, sending them flying as well. "Quick run." The figure said to them he then turned and faced the people in front of him and ran at them striking at each one and knocking them out with the wooden sword. Rachel, Hozamar, and the last of the resistance took their chance and ran out of the campsite. As soon as they reached the woods Rachel turned to watch the young man, but Hozamar grabbed her hand and pulled her toward the rest.
"Wait, Shouldn't we help him," She asked trying to keep up with the old man. "It looks like he'll be ok on his own." Rachel looked back wondering if that was indeed the case. But, then a thought came to her mind. "We need to go find the others. I'm worried about Tonya." Hozamar stopped and turned to her. The look on his face was enough to tell Rachel that he too was worried. "I know, but it's not safe here," He said to her though. "No, I want to find her." He watched her for a moment then said, "Alright lets go find her then."
They walked around for sometime trying to find out where the others were when they came across a clearing. Rachel looked around as they stepped through. The area was allowing the moon to bleed through showing them an awful sight. Bodies lied on the ground both reistance and Revald. "What happened here," Rachel asked looking disgusted at the sight. Hozamar was just dumbstruck at the sight. "They must have known. All along they knew where everyone was. Rachel looked around skimming the area when a sight caught her eye. A bloody body of a young girl with short blond hair and two scyths laid on the ground. "No...NO.....NOOOOOOOO!" Hozamar looked at her as she fell to the ground tears flooding her eyes. He then turned to where she was looking before he too began to get teary eyed.
