Daily scripture ~10/7/11~
Today's Scripture
"Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker." Psalm 95:6

Here is another remedy for the insecurity blues:

One of the ways you can know for sure you are a child of God is that you love other children of God.

If you are struggling with having assurance of your salvation, it may be due to a missing ingredient in your spiritual life—FELLOWSHIP!

YOU'VE GOT TO HANG AROUND GOD'S PEOPLE!

Let's look at Hebrews 10:23-25 from several translations:

NASB: "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near."

NLT: "Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near."

Amplified: "And let us consider and give attentive, continuous care to watching over one another, studying how we may stir up (stimulate and incite) to love and helpful deeds and noble activities, Not forsaking or neglecting to assemble together [as believers], as is the habit of some people, but admonishing (warning, urging, and encouraging) one another, and all the more faithfully as you see the day approaching."

It dawned on me that this isn't a suggestion, it's a command, a clear directive for Christians, not an option. Fellowship was required by the Lord in the Old Covenant, and it is required in the New Covenant as well.

Warren Wiersbe comments on this: "Fellowship with God must never become selfish. We must also fellowship with other Christians in the local assembly. Apparently, some of the wavering believers had been absenting themselves from the church fellowship. It is interesting to note that the emphasis here is not on what a believer gets from the assembly, but rather on what he can contribute to the assembly. Faithfulness in church attendance encourages others and provokes them to love and good works. One of the strong motives for faithfulness is the soon coming of Jesus Christ." (The Bible Exposition Commentary, 1989, Chariot Victor Publishing.)

May the Lord give you strong assurance as you follow Him and may He bless your fellowship with God's people!

~Todays Psalm~

Psalm 97, verses 10-12, "You who love the LORD, hate evil! He protects the lives of his godly people and rescues them from the power of the wicked. Light shines on the godly, and joy on those whose hearts are right. May all who are godly rejoice in the LORD and praise his holy name!"

~Todays Proverb~

Proverbs 7, verses 1-3, "Follow my advice, my son; always treasure my commands. Obey my commands and live! Guard my instructions as you guard your own eyes. Tie them on your fingers as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart."

Stay strong in the Lord,
