Arrival at West Gate
Prompt Two Response for Full Moon Auction

The ball gown was cream and gold and it looked beautiful on Cecily, despite her too-round features and the freckles that covered her face. Not that anyone could see her freckles tonight; the invitation had specified masquerade, and over the past few weeks, the Maestro had given Cecily several different masks to try with the ball gown. The paper-mache mask was also in cream and gold, and shaped to appear like the face of a bird. A dove, specifically. Cecily had enjoyed admiring herself in the mirror a few hours ago; the silk or satin - or whatever the gown was made from, Cecily wasn't sure - rustled beautifully when she took quick, small steps. She glinted when light hit her from head to foot, sparkling off the skirt and the bodice and the mask, even the hairnet that bound her long auburn hair.

The Maestro had pronounced his final choice in her mask amusing, although Cecily wasn't sure what was ironic about a dove. She was only attending to represent her employer. She clutched the pocketbook, filled with one invitation, a goodly amount of money, and blank check signed by the Maestro. The fancy slipper she wore were starting to hurt her feet; luckily Hans had driven her most of the way, but from the last main street she had to make her way to the party on foot.

At first Cecily thought the directions she clutched in one gloved hand were wrong - who would have a masquerade and auction in this section of town? She sighed audibly in relief when she turned the final corner as instructed on her directions, and saw a man guarding the door, looking quite dapper in a uniform.

"Miss?" he enquired, holding out his hand. She handed him the invitation, hoping he would allow her in - after all, there were no names on the invitation. Would he know it had certainly been meant for the Maestro, and not for her, the cooking school dropout? Would she have to act imperious, as all of the rick folk did, and inform him that, if rejected, the Maestro would not do business with them any more?

"Good evening, sir - I am here for the masquerade, and for the auction."
