Lying To Be Different Part 1
"I told you.. He never wanted you.."

She woke with a start, her skin sticky with a cold sweat, the thin cotton sheets wrapped around her body. Gasping softly and squeezing her eyes shut, trying to block out the angry female face in here mind, she detangled her legs from her linens, and moved to the edge, steadying herself on the nightstand.

Standing slowly, she looked nervously around the room, making her way to the bathroom. Looking into the mirror, she grimaced, turning on the water to watch away the tear tracks from her skin. Her hair looked greasy, even in the dark light, and her skin still felt sticky. "Might as well just take a shower" she grumbled, turning the water off forcefully, and going to the large steam shower in the corner, already throwing the sleep shirt onto the floor before turning on the blazing water.

Letting the hot water run down her tired body, she sighed contentedly, the anger of her dream almost forgotten. Leaning her head against the shower wall, she closed her eyes and breathed in the steam, letting the warm water work out the kinks in her shoulders and back.

She turned off the water after a short 10 minutes, and stepped out of the shower, sighing sadly at the thought of the day ahead. It was barely sunrise, but she knew sleep was pointless to court again. Standing in front of her large bay windows, she let the slightly warm morning air caress her bare skin, the tickling sensation covering her entire body, intensified by the slight dampness from the shower.

Looking around for her clothing, she pulled a thong out of the bottom of a nearby dresser. The soft lacey fabric brought a slight smile to her lips as she slid them on, ignoring her image in the reflecting mirror beside her. She knew she wasn't perfect, but seeing it staring back at her was not how she wanted to start the morning. She fished a bra out from under her covers, and forced it on, pulling her still wet hair out from the straps and messily clipping the mass on the top of her head.

She flipped on the lamp on her headboard distractedly, looking for any combination of jeans and shirt so she could just grab her hoodie and go before her parents heard her walking around and wanted to "talk" about the other night. She knew that she had been rude, but so had they. There really isn't anything that you want to hear when your supposed first love walks out on you after 3 years because he "changed his mind."

That thought stilled her hand as she pulled up on the waistline of a dark pair of jeans. Her eyes started to sting, but she forced the thought away, thinking only of what she was going to do after breakfast. Skipping the socks, she grabbed the dirty dress shirt from this morning and slipped out into the hall. Picking up the discarded jacket on her way to the stairs, she slipped it on and had it zipped before she even made it to the end of the stairway.

Sliding down the railing, so that the creaking stairs wouldn't wake her parents, she landed lightly at the foot of the stairs. Smiling slightly at her silence, she reached for her flip flops, and her cell phone fell out of her jacket's front pocket, skidding across the floor and clanging into the door and making a loud, ominous bang. Groaning, she froze, listening for the telltale movement upstairs that would announce her parents awakening.

"You know, you're really not that smooth..."
She jumped at the sound of her younger brother's voice. She glared at him standing in the hallway eating cereal in his boxers and sweater. "If you go now, I will cover for you... But you have to do dishes tonight."He smirked at her, knowing the pain she was going thru, but not wanting to say anything. He nodded towards the door and laughed softly as she grabbed her phone and scrambled out of the house without saying a word. As he walked back towards the kitchen, he sobered slightly, looking at the guys jacket on the chair next to his. He could kill ______ for what he had done to her. "And someday I will", he thought, flexing his hand around his juice glass momentarily before the weak material shattered in his grasp, the sharp pieces falling to the floor softly. "Crap" he said, glaring at the floor and proceeding to clean up his mess before his parents awakened.

Running down the hill from their house, she looked at her phone and saw the dozens of text messages from her friends, desperately asking if she was ok, what had happened and so on. She angrily hit "Delete All" on her message options, and shoved the phone back into her jacket front. No one needed to know the details. At least not until she knew them. Or at least half of them. That would have been nice too.

Looking down the street, she saw no one coming from either way. Fishing the keys from her jeans pocket, she opened her dads car door and slipped inside. He would be mad at her for taking it, but if he had just given her a car for her birthday last year, it wouldn't have been a problem. Turning the keys in the ignition, she slowly backed out into the street and then drove off in a huff. She needed to be alone; to get away. She needed to drive.

The twisting suburb streets all started to run together as she went further and further into the heart of Miami. Traffic was already starting to pick up and it was barely 7am. Without knowing it, she found herself driving along the beach way. The sun was already over the horizon, its long rays touching the dancing surf, and warming the sands on the shore. She was momentarily taken back by the pure beauty of the ocean and wished for the millionth time that she could leave city and go live on an island out in the middle of the ocean where no one could bother her.

Pushing the car faster, she drove for an hour, barely noticing the awaking world around her. She sped past the other cars like she had a death wish, and hoped above anything that the cops would just leave her alone today. She wasn't that lucky apparently.

The blue and red lights of a MPD officer flashed in her review about a mile out of town. Swearing softly, she eased over onto the side of the road and sat sulking for almost 3 minutes before the cop even got out of the car.
