Rather than having Nolofinwe and Feanaro quarrel over who would forge me the ring, I decided to have an impartial smith do it. I snuck out of the Palace when nobody was paying attention and went to the first forge I found by the Market Place of Tirion. The smith was very young (about my age, I would say?) and he seemed surprised to see a son of Finwe interested in his work.
He forged the silver ring for me while I was waiting. I watched him work... I have never really liked forges, but I have to admit he made his best to make me feel welcome. He asked me why I did not have the ring made in Alqualonde with one of their silver smiths. It would have made more sense, certainly. However, I cannot really say I have mingled with the silver smiths in Alqualonde. The sons of Olwe do not seem interested in that, so I never met anyone who worked in the Teleri forges. I bet that would be the first thing Feanaro would do if he lived in Alqualonde. He would miss all the fun of sailing and dancing in the sand.
