Insert random, poetic title here Random stuff, I'm guessing, from whenever I actually feel like posting. Why do I get the feeling this is going to be addictive?

I'm not dead yet!
Any and all rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.

For the curious who are poking around and trying to find juicy, juicy gossip, sorry, there is none! I stepped down from the mod team on good terms. I did so because I'm looking to focus on real life for a while. Sorry!

I just found an old, old house which I am set to move into ... err ... soon. o,o The plan was today, but chaos rules life, as always, so tomorrow seems more likely. I am hoping to take a stab at running my own business. But I have a loooooot of work to do before I get to that stage. Right now just getting the house up to speed, cleaning the parts that really need a good clean, and getting rid of the junk the people who were there before me left is going to be my focus.

I'm excited, but a bit nervous. I've never set out to do repairs on a place before so I have a lot of learning in front of me. But it's all a labor of love, so it all works out. Tell you what though, I'm going to miss the current place in all its craziness. Wild boar trotting up and down the path, monkeys, venomous centipedes --- wait. Maybe I won't miss living here so much.

^^ I have some great stories about my soon-to-be-old place though and I wouldn't have traded living here for the past year and a half for anything.

I'm not sure what, if any internet I'll have for the next couple of weeks. Also, as a non-mod I find myself increasingly stumped in regards to just what to do with myself on Gaia. I've been hanging out on a mule and chatting there. It entertains me, at any rate. I suspect my time on my terradi account is going to continue to be pretty limited for a while yet. I just ... don't know what to do with myself. That, and I kinda feel weird to be a regular user. People keep expecting me to know stuff.

Thing about the modding world is, things change. If you don't keep your hand in it, you do miss things. I haven't been paying attention to the mod world since I stepped down at the beginning of August. So any updates on this mini wings contest? Clueless. Any recent glitches? Ditto. xD Many of you probably have a better idea of what's going on than I do. And that's fine with me. Maybe I can use all that brain space I used to dedicate to learning about glitches to learning kanji so I can finally become something resembling literate in Japanese.

And I'm just musing now. So I'll call it a night and leave it at this.

Take care all! Especially you current and incoming mods. heart You do a difficult and much needed job and I love ya for it.

Send me all your junk! I love junk! biggrin

If you want any tips for renovating, let me know. My boyfriend is just finishing up renovations on this house (hasn't been touched since the 70-80's). Tiling, trim, electrical, random stuff, he's done it all.

Otherwise - enjoy the challenges for your new home! And good luck with your soon to be business. heart

Any idea how to repair fusuma? Mine are in a terrible state. sweatdrop Most of the stuff that needs repairs may not be stuff your boyfriend ever dealt with. This is a 100 year old Japanese house, and it is quite traditional.

^^ Most of what needs to be done is just the cosmetics. The sliding partitions (fusuma) look awful. Some of them don't slide all the way across because the grooved tracks are aged and just don't work well anymore. Some of them have holes in them that need repairing and all of them need re-papering. Some of the light fixtures are ancient, and the wires leading to some of the lights need replacing. The tatami in the downstairs rooms needs to be taken up so I can work on the floor beneath it or covered entirely. I'm not sure which way to go with it. My house was designed with a floor that was meant to be covered. So the floor is pretty awful. The bath doesn't work, the shower has a touchy timer, there's a heater which apparently doesn't work and may need new batteries or need to be taken out altogether. There's a partition that the last people put up that I want to take out. Oh! And everything needs dusting!

sweatdrop I have my work cut out for me. I'm so excited and happy about it at this point though. Not sure if the euphoria of moving just hasn't worn out yet or if I've discovered a new passion. I suspect both.

Terradi! Love your avy and I'm so excited about your business venture! I hope everything works out for you! heart

Most oldbies I know hangout in guilds and sulk. Haha. I do Q&A every once and a while. It's actually pretty nice. I should do that again but I've been busy irl.

Hope to see you during Nanowrimo, though! (: Maybe you can finish your fanfic during November! <3
