So, tonight at my school there was Coffee House, student bands playing to kick off Keep the Beat, which goes until 6pm tomorrow night.
To give background information, Keep the Beat is a fundraiser we do with WarChild, raising money for them to build schools in Africa and such, and basically the fundraiser is as the name suggests, Keeping the Beat. For 24 hours, students hang out at the school, always keeping some sort of beat going. First year we did it, we raised 5000 dollars. Last year, about 11,500 dollars. At the beginning of the night tonight, the count was at 13,000 dollars. More will be raised throughout the event.
And no, I'm not doing keep the beat, it was initially scheduled when I had a band competition that day that I couldn't miss >_> Then it was postponed due to a snow day, but yea.
So Coffee House kicks it off. Student bands playing, lot of loud rock, metal, screamers...ya know. It was good, though. We also had Dave and Cone there, from the band Sum 41. They work with WarChild a lot, and WarChild asked them if they would come by ^^ So I have a blurry picture (I only kept one, though I had tons...none worked too well, they were too far) as well as a video where, amazingly, you can clearly hear their voices against the background noise. Very cool.
One of my friends got his stomach autographed by them, and I have a picture of his stomach xd
While student bands were playing a lot of people were standing on chairs to try and see them, which was highly amusing, cause there were a few times I nearly fell or got knocked off by a friend or knocked into someone else.
And two mosh pits started...which the teachers quickly quelled xd Someone was crowd surfing too and lost their sandal, aha.
It was quite fun. Andrew saved me from falling a few times since I was standing right beside him, though he almost caused me to fall a few times as well by poking him >__> Or him getting poked by Raluca and then slamming into me. Some guy also tried to walk across a bunch of chairs to get to another one, so I had to grab onto Lu and Michelle and try not to fall off as he walked across my chair.
It was fun.
If I seem really incoherent, it's because it's 11pm, I got home about half an hour ago, and I've been writing out some music for a middle school kid cause they lost the tenor one part .__. So I'm writing it out from the score in Finale. Shwooo~
Fear my incoherency.
Fear the blurry picture too surprised
