I look in the mirror and I find that what I see
Is that stranger again
A stranger to me
Who's eyes stare back blankly
As if too tired to see

That pale face surrounded
By the straight orange red and yellow
That face that looks upon me that is so mellow
The hair is long yet short
If only I could find my comfort

I turn away from the mirror
And I look inside
And I find
That is easier to see
Not just to strangers
And not just to me

Happiness filled, and niceness proclaimed
Non-violence insisted
Everyone else is to blame
Hoping that one day we can all become one
Yet still have individuality
Without the formality
And hope that no labels will ever exist

I am afraid of your criticism
And of how harsh it can be
Why can't you just leave me be?
And let me see
For myself, without your help

I don't need you to drag me down
Why are you trying to make me drown?
You're the one that told me to do what I can
To do what I wanted
To be good to man

So now I have to be strong
Before everything goes wrong
And if it wasn't for you
I don't know what I'd do

First you tell me good things
And about what they will bring
Then you tell me I can't
And that it's stupid to try
And you ask me why?

And here is the answer
That you wanted from me
That you taught me what I could be
And you showed my what I wanted to see

So don't make fun of me
Or hate me for it
Just be supportive
