Trees tall for the singing birds.
Adjectives happily describe those on the ground.
All she does is Stop and Stare,
Taking note of the world she’s reading,
Mesmerized by the wild ‘n free Fanfare.
Tree bark; dark, healthy and strong.
Words lining every leaf.
Songbirds of letter joyously sharing their songs.
A stream, written coolly, bring all life relief.
A Black Bear standing proud protects her young
As they chew on the words making up the berries.
She sees the latter making what a spider had strung,
Nature’s silent harp catching bugs appearing as Faeries.
Deer, with innocence written in their eyes, feast on bushes.
Ears sensitive to hear the Hunters in the distance, searching for game.
She sees the sky write Sunset and all the forest hushes.
With descriptive words, Night is not the Same.
Darkness rushes in, the words alight for the girl to read.
Fireflies flutter while giving off their light.
Words of the owls echo through the forest, predator unseen.
A pack of wolves awake, searching for food, what a Sight!
Whispers of the trees glide through the air, talking.
She knew they weren’t in her language, but listened.
Cougars slink ‘tween trees while stalking.
Their paws landing silently on dewy grass as it glistened.
Natural and SuperNatural seem to come hand in hand.
Night Mares and gremlins and Moon Faeries thrive.
Both sides mix and equally share the land.
Who knew Words could make a forest so alive?
But now the book closes and the girl sighes.
A younger version of herself lies ‘tween the pages.
She’ll miss the World of Ink, where there are no lies.
She can still hear the written words hum.
As she places the book back onto its shelf.
The Written World can only be visited by Some.
