Ennis

Population: 279,999 compared to New Jersey's 8,682,661
The Land

[Aoife] [Silas] [Faylinn] [Kelby] [Akuji]
Ennis is an island, about the size of New Jersey, to the left of Aria on a map. The people of Ennis have a large connection to their religion and everything is based off of it. They also have a strong connection with family, and depending on what you believe in more, depends on if family or religion are more important. The flag symbolizes their belief in this. The largest circle represents religion, the next biggest family and the smallest Ennis. Since Ennis is so small, most of the land is uninhabited and covered in trees. They have one leader and he is lead by the goddess.
Cityscape: The Ennian cities are small and thin out as the city goes on. They houses are usually built around a certain point. All the houses are log cabins, and built very well to keep the warm in and the cold out. They don't have sidewalks or anything since they have to truck through the snow anyways and that wouldn't do much good since it is covered in snow. The houses are usually built on some form of foundation or some form of basement, since the snow is pretty deep. The island isn't too populated and most of it is just the untouched forest, though some small towns exist away from the main ones.
Well Known Cities: [x] - The capitol Aoife holds the mansion of Dur Fuhrer. It's where many believed the Goddess was born and is the life of Ennis. Other main cities are: Silas, Kelby, Faylinn, and Akuji. These are also the only cities. There are small towns scattered around, but they are still considered part of one of the cities, depending on what is the closest.
Typical Terrains: [x] [x] - Most of Ennis is covered in Coniferous forests, they still have a coast. The coast on Ennis is the only place not covered in snow. Instead the coast has dark sand that is wet from the melted snow and the water washing up on it. The rest of Ennis is a snow covered forest. No part of the island, besides the coast, does not have snow on it. Akuji is a giant mountain that is covered in snow. The best way to describe this spiraling spike of death is as a tundra. There are very few trees on it, except at the very very top. Its a small paradise.
Climates: [x] - All of Ennis, except Akuji, is wet and freezing. It isn't humid, so it's a dry, wet, cold island. The snow level ranges depending on where you are in the forest, the main level being about 2-3 feet tall. Akuji is still covered in snow, but it is a large tundra mountain, not being as refreshing feeling as the forest is. The coast is still cold, but has a few warmer winds coming from below them, but that doesn't do much to the temperature. In the summer the temperature doesn't seem to change much, but probably because it's so cold there already.
Common Plants: Coniferous trees and pine trees are the main plants that live on Ennis, but besides those, you can find Bearberries and Raspberries, Labrador Tea, Pasque Flowers, Tufted Saxifrage, and colorful wildflowers. These flowers include: Purple Saxifrage, Mountain Avens, Wild Crocus, Arctic Poppies, Buttercups, Cinquefoil, Moss Campion, Campanulas, Arctic Azaleas and Arctic Lupine. Other plants that grow there are mosses, grasses, herbs, lichens and small shrubs like the Dwarf Willow and Arctic Willow.
Cash crops: Labrador Tea, Black Tea, Raspberries, Potatoes, Musk Oxen for their meat, milk and fur, Dall Sheep for their milk to make cheese, and Arctic Thyme.
Foods: The climate of Ennis keeps lots of variation from being in their foods. Most the time a large pot of stew or braised Musk Oxen ribs is put on to cook early in the morning and continues till dinner time. They prefer to bring out the natural flavors of their food and don't add much to their dishes. Milk, bread, and cheese are usually eaten as snakes during the day. Ice cream is common on Ennis, but is not eaten often. Spicy things, if they have the spices for, are liked for being able to heat up the body.
Common Animals: Arctic Foxes, Lynx, Arctic Hares, Musk Ox, Snowy Owls, Crows, Harlequin Ducks, Ermin, Lemmings, Narwhals, and Dall Sheep
Typical weather: It is always snowing on Ennis, and if it doesn't snow, it's a rare day. The wind blows the most on the coast and higher up regions.

The People

Government: Theocracy - [Uniforms] [Arm Badges]
Currency: [x] - Ennis's currency is made from the Ivory of Narwhal's horns. They have the symbol from the flag on the front, the three circles representing Religion, family, and Ennis, and it says Ennis cared into the bottom. The edges are not ridged. On the back of the coins it is a stylized carved in picture of the mansion the leader lives in and under it it says Chaeli Guide Us. The large coin is about the size of a quarter and is worth a dollar. The smaller coin is the size of a dime and is worth 25 cents. They use these to buy whatever they want and this has been their one and only currency ever used. Ennis doesn't trade with Garcus or Aria, so they have no need to worry about trading their coins with them.
Preferred Music Genres: Alternative dance and rock, Bitpop, Bouncy techno, Any form of techno really. Techno is the most listened to music. Other than that other forms of rock and emo, scene, screamo music are the only things they listen to. Any other form/style/genre of music doesn't exist to them.
Average Ennians: [x] - All Ennians look sickly pale, some having a yellow tint to their skin. Their eyes are always hidden under their hair, and if are seen, the eyes are abnormally bright colors, almost glowing in the dark. Its to help the Ennians see at night. The average male Ennian stand anywhere from "5,7' to "5,8' and has a longer face and a squarer jaw. His ears tend to be bigger and round, and his nose is long and pointed at the end, sometimes bent down. The bridge of the nose depends on the parents. Some can be bent and others strait. Their necks are wider and they have broader shoulders. The males torso's are longer than the females and they have a more muscular body and usually bigger feet. Were the females stand about "5,5' to "5,6' and have rounder faces, smaller pointed ears, smaller rounder noses and longer thin necks. Their shoulders aren't as broad, of course, and the don't have as long torsos. The females boobs aren't that large either. usually anywhere from an A cup to a C cup. C being the largest seen. Their hips are wider though and they have curvy bottoms. The females legs are longer than the males, which makes up for the shorter torsos. Their bodies are leaner and thinner. Ennians usually have some form of facial piercing, but all females have their nose pierced, but not the sides, they have the middle of it pierced and it is a hoop. That is the same piercing their goddess has, and they believe all females should have it. The males are not allowed to have their noses pierced, but other facial piercings are okay. Body piercings are not commonly seen because there is no need for them. Ennian's hair is large and everywhere most the time. The females have 3 or more colors usually, and the males have 1 or 2, sometimes 3.
Fashion: Since the weather is so cold, it is typical for Ennians to wear lots of different layers. The main thing they wear is the skin tight suit under all their other clothing. It has different patterns on it depending on what city you were born in. This suit protects from the wind, snow and water, and helps keep your body warmer. Other than that, they wear a lot of smaller clothing that adds on and on to make alot of layers but still show parts of the suit underneath. The color choices are usually either very dark colors, or very birth and happy colors. Most of their choices would fall into the emo and scene category of clothing choices. All of them wear boots, for any other shoe would become soaked in the snow and wouldn't keep your feet warm. Gloves are a must too, along with some form of neck covering, just for that extra protection.
Common Jobs: Hair stylist, clothing designers and manufacturers, farmers, fishers, architects and house builders, any medical related job, piercers, loggers, musicians, sports entertainers, and some military offices.
Common Sports: Girls and guys play the same sports with mixed teams, but their are a few that the other gender can't play, or that it is more entertaining to watch with same genders. Ice skating acrobats, which may sound gay, but isn't at all. The Ice skaters are usually the same gender, making them physically similar. Mixed gender skating isn't very common because the women can't take as much as the men can and this makes them use less tricks and becomes kinda boring. The skaters preform lots of different tricks and it ends up almost being more of a circus act. Soccer, Hurdles, Snow boarding. Only guys play Jai-alai, and only girls play ballet, gymnastics, and Volley Ball.
Common Entertainment: Jobs are usually the person's life. They spend most their time doing that, which is fine cause they usually love what they do or they would not have gotten into it. What free time they do manage to find, is usually spend relaxing and listening to music. The younger ones tend to rave, just hang out with their friends, and play music. Most would find their lives not that exciting, but it's perfect for the Ennians.
Common Pets: Siberian huskies, Saint Bernards, Persian cats, Arctic Hares, Snow Owls, and some Lemmings.
Common Weapons: Ennians prefer to use hunting knives and things like that. They have some Makarov pistols and some Magnum Research Micro Eagle .380 acp, but the military personal are the only ones allowed to have guns on them or own a gun. Any Ennian can own a knife, but not guns. Part of the military uses sniper riffles too, but that's as far as their weapons go.
Fighting Styles: When it comes to fighting each other, they just use their fist and feet to try and knock the other down first. Then after the other is on the ground, they tend to leap on top of them and beat them till the other gives up or passes out. The girls use their nails when fighting, making like cat swipes, where guys just punch. Fighting each other is like watching a high school fight. Just brutal and kinda exciting. But when it comes to their military, Ennians have Guerrilla Warfare Tactics. They hide then ambush the opponent. As the fight is going on, they look for ways to escape and hide again. Then as the opponent gets closer, they ambush them again. They continue this fighting till they win, die, or have to flee.
Military Training: Ennians are not allowed to join the military till they are 22. They want serious people who are wanting to be part of it, not for the thrill. The Ennians army is small, since they don't really use it. Some are born being given a name that tells others they are born to be in a certain spot in the military. Others join for a job. They are trained to fight and run and continue this pattern until they win. Ennians endurance has to be high for them to accomplish this. The military is strict and doesn't like to have jokers and such among their ranks. They have a separate section in the military for their snipers. They are trained thoroughly in this section and have amazing aim and accuracy.
Common Ailments: Seasonal Affective Disorder, Sinusitis and Bronchitis, the Flu, Ague, Pneumonia, Tonsillitis, Asthma, Frost bite, hypothermia, Syphilis, and other cold related problems. Any sinus problems are common because the weather makes it easier for the bacteria and other things to grow. Being huddled together in cold weather causes the illnesses to spread easier too.
Top Causes of Death: Disease that isn't treated soon enough causes many deaths. But most people die from old age and their bodies giving up on them instead of illness. The surgeons on Ennis are top notch and fix most problems that can be by surgery. Other than that, accidents are a big problem on Ennis too. Falling and breaking thin ice and such kill many, along with heart disease.
Lifespan: 45-65 Years old.

Views

Women & Men: Women hold a higher place in their religion, thus they hold a higher place in society. Gender boxes are extreme on Ennis, if you act a little bit girly, they tend to think you are gay. Same goes for the women, when they act a little manly they are suspected as being lesbians. Men are not allowed to wear women's clothing, but it is more acceptable for women to wear men's. Men are naturally stronger and women are more agile.
Children: Children are loved and cherished and some are named when they are born to uphold certain tasks. Those children are trained and brought up being ready for that job they are to take on. Other than that, they children are cared for by both parents, if they have them, and are seen as meant to happen by everyone. Believing that the goddess gave them this child to raise and take care of. The children are believed to be able to take care of themselves and leave when they turn 17.
Relationships: Love is seen as a beautiful thing that you are lucky to find. It is found by finding the person the goddess created that matches you. By matching, it means that you are in love with that person and they are in love with you, no other way to match you. The Ennians take love seriously, not wanting to find the wrong person and take someone else's match. They might have lots of relationships in their life, but won't marry till they are almost positive that this person they found is theirs. Relationships aren't seen as super important things, they are seen as a way to find the one right for you, and many Ennians go through lots of people till they find one they truly like. It's also okay for Ennians to just date for fun, since you never know when you will find the person for you or if they are them. Some rush into relationships quickly and don't let being broken up with bother them too much, since that wasn't their match and they are still out there. Though sometimes it does take a large toll on them when they think it was their love. But it is easy for them to brush it off and continue on with their lives. Marriage is not taken lightly, and it is a beautiful thing when two people actually do get married. Divorce is something that is looked down upon on Ennis, since it proves you moved too fast. Sex isn't worried about too much. It is taken lightly and they sleep with who they want, as long as neither is taken. If someone gets pregnant by someone they end up not being with, it is just seen as meant to happen and the family accepts it and helps raise the child. The girls family at least. Though no one is allowed to have sex till they are 18, for the bodies are not ready for it yet. Sometimes 17 is acceptable also. Since the Ennians are free with their sex, it does spread the only STD they have on their island. Syphilis spreads alot, but many already know this, and if you don't want to catch it, you don't' have as free sex as others do.
Gay couples: They hate them. Ennians don't believe that anyone is born gay or should be gay, and if you are, you choose it, and should be killed for it. They fill they pollute their island and it is against their religion to be gay. Being gay is unnatural and if found out, families disown their children and no one has anything to do with that person, most the time. Though some do believe it is okay to be gay, they refuse to voice their opinions, cause death might be their payment for it.
Religion: Religion is the most important thing, next to family, in their lives; though many often put religion higher than family. Their religion is what governs their island, and the leader is suppose to follow the laws of the religion. And sometimes, it is believed that the goddess speaks to the leader and instructs him on certain things. Everything in their lives should be based on religion, and most the time is. Younger children are given leeway when it comes beliefs and what not since they are too young to understand. Though in their religion women are higher up on the scale than men, only a man can be the leader of the country. As odd as this sounds, it is because the goddess's voice can only be heard by a man, and women are up to high in their own minds to hear the faint voice and believe it actually meant something. So only a man can hear her voice and lead the country. The female's in Ennis all have to get their nose pierced, the middle of it, with a hoop. It represents them turning into a women, not a girl anymore, and their goddess had the same piercing.
Politics: The leader of Ennis follows the rules and regulations and all that set up by their religion. He makes all the decisions and no one is suppose to question him. Though they may if it is something outrageous that does not follow the religion. It is believed that small changes are okay, sometimes, if the leader believes the goddess spoke to him and told him to change it. Religion runs their politics. The leader does have one advisor, and though he can't really do much, he can give his opinion and advice and hopefully have some affect on the leaders thoughts.
Crime: Anyone above the age of 20 as no reason to do any crime, money isn't a big problem and if you want something, you usually make it or save up for it. Though some of the ones younger than 20 get rambunctious. They start fire to things, and do get in lots of trouble for it, and are forced to work to pay that person back. Though if it kills someone, they are put into prison. Other then setting fire to things, they just play a bunch of annoying pranks and just get annoying. Crime isn't a big thing to worry about on Ennis.
Education: Education is somewhat important in Ennis, you have to finish 9 years of normal public school and pass everything. After they finish public school, they either go to a private school and finish their scholar learning there, or they take to vocation schools and learn skills. Both schools last about the same time, depending on what you are doing, and they are both just as good as the other. All Ennians have to go to one of the higher schools or the other. The schools only last for about 4 years, then after that it is up to them to continue their education or not. It is seen as an important thing since it gets them ready for their real lives and the future of the country. Though sometimes in special occasions, they are sent to their vocational/Private schools early and do not have to worry about the public school. It is up to the parents to get them this far though, and if it does not happen, the blame is placed on the parent, not the child.

Sacred places: The mansion in Aiofe in which the pharaoh lives is considered the most sacred place. It is said that the Goddess herself came down from the heavens to pick the first leader of Ennis. She built and stayed in the mansion for two days as she made her decision on who should be it. The second sacred place is a glorious temple built in Faylinn for people to visit and pray at. It is more meant to show the love and faith in their Goddess, but is used for celebrations and grand worshipping ceremonies. Other than the two main ones, the homes of the people are also considered sacred places since it is where they live and worship on their own.

Moral Codes: The Ennian's believe that women are held in higher social platforms then men and mean more to the country. They are the bearers of child and keep the population going. Also, it is seen that woman can do no wrong, but they cannot protect themselves either. Men are meant to protect the women and help them produce the children to keep the country populous. It is also against their moral code to be gay. It is penalized by death. They are seen as corrupt in the mind and faith and as if demons have taken over their bodies. Ennians believe in their Religion, Country, and Family. They are represented by the three red rings on their flag. They also see themselves as higher than any other race. Ennians feel they are better than the others and have no time for anything that doesn't have to do with them or their country. Sex is waited for until they are 18 and it is looked down upon and actually punishable if it happens before then. Ennians are honest people to each other, but are willing to stab anyone from a different country in the back if need be.

Religious writing: The Ennians have no religious book, but they do have a room filled with elegant, detailed wall carvings. They are located under the mansion the pharaoh lives. As far as everyone knows, they had been there before the first leader was chosen to run the country. Each picture represents a different detail in the religion and if all of them are read in the correct order, you find out all the details and the way the religion is. As far as anyone knows, the Goddess made all of those writings herself and were below the house before it was ever built.
How it began: An Ennian, in the very early years of the country, dug himself a room under the ground and waited for two years, not leaving, eating, drinking, or anything. Just sat down in the door room he created. It is said that the goddess appeared before him and thanked him for the room and filled it immediately with carvings of the way of the religion, so everyone would be able to read and interpret what she wanted. The man's body was not found and it is believed that she took him to heaven with her for his good deeds. The people had already believed in that religion before the carvings appeared, but now they had solid proof in what to believe and what not to believe.
Opposing force: Demons, or those who defy and refuse to accept Yevaity, are the opposing force to Chaeli. They enter the bodies of the weak and misguide them. Usually this is believed to turn them gay or make them go crazy and go against the religion. Though the demons can be exercised from the bodies, it is a long and usually painful process for the victim.
The Big Reward: When Ennian's die, after following the beliefs of the religion, they are rewarded by being able to live in the land Chaeli created for them. It is believed that she use to live on the island with all her people, but the demons appeared and she couldn't stand to see her "children" changed. So she left the island and created a land for those who choose to do right and believe in her. Once she left, the demons covered the land in snow and tried to make it difficult for anyone to survive there. They are rewarded with complete happiness and a new life without worries or problems in the heaven she created for them.

Chaeli Goddess of Ennis [X]
Origin: She has been around as long as there has been people on Ennis. She was the first being to ever walk on Ennis and created her humans to live and take care of the country.
Abilities: Chaeli can create whatever she pleases and go where ever she pleases. There is almost nothing she cannot do except transform into any being but herself. And others cannot transform into her either.
Weapons: There is no need for actual weapons, but she does posses her holy abilities to take care of those inflicted with the wrong choices.
Symbolized by: [X] A half hoop that is used to represent a nose ring. The hoop nose ring and flower petals are her two main symbols. Clouds and sometimes the sunlight are also used to represent Chaeli and what she gives to the country.
