Character creation should be easy and painless. So this is the system that I will more than likely be using-

Body- traits based mostly on your physical body

Strength- your ability to crush styrofoam cups, or punch out a tyrannosaur.
Agility- your ability to move quickly and evade objects coming at you and the like.
Toughness- your ability to withstand beatings, bullets, and the like

Mind - traits based on what's in the ol' skull * tap tap *

Resolution- give up on a game of tic-tac-toe, or willing to find the holy grail in your backyard?
Cunning - your ability to think quickly and on your feet
I.Q. - your ability to figure out really complex things inside your head

Personality - charming or irritating?

Identity- your ability to understand yourself and why you do what you do
Grace- street thug gutter punk, or charming upper class socialite?
Manipulation - your ability to be tricky and conniving

Soul- do you have a spiritual side, or are you as mundane as an industrial factory worker?

Understanding- do you understand that there are more to ghosts than chain-rattling and frightening small children?
Aptitude- don't believe in magic, or have you slung spells before you could walk?
Psyche- does thinking about alternate dimensions make your head hurt, or have you developed your own theory about the evolution of protoplasm?

Your character will be ranked one through ten in each one of these characteristics, where one is the lowest and ten is the highest. There is an amount of originality and customization available besides the already present variations given in the species and class listings- you are given a certain amount of free points to spend wherever you wish, depending on what makes sense for your character, and how he/she is different from all of the other Orcish Warcheifs or Elvish Sorcerers.
