Master of Elements: The Gathering of the Chosen
Have You Ever Heard The Legend...

-Chapter One- The Woman of the Forest

The sun was shining bright that day. Its light cascaded over the valleys and plains, over the small town of Newport, and over the forest to east. It is in this forest where we shall meet the first of our cast to be in this tale.

As the light poured in through a window it came upon the face of a woman. A yawn escaped her mouth as she rose from bed. She slowly rubbed the sleep from her eyes and let out a sigh as she stretched her limbs outwards. She was fair skinned with blonde hair. Her eyes were a dark hazel and she possessed a delicate build, but was not what most people would regard as normal. She had a tail and ears that protruded from the top of her head, specifically like a mix of human and cat, a nekomimi as they are called in today’s society. She lived alone in a simple hut hidden in the depths of the trees the place she called home. Though she was not ostracized by the neighbouring town, it was simply her choice to exist in the forest. It was where she felt most comfortable, surrounded by nature, and the tranquility that came with it. She would often travel to the town on a daily basis to visit the market or to hear stories about the world outside the town. Today was no exception and she hastily waltzed into the bath.

It was a simple bath, nothing quite as fancy by today’s standards, but it served its purpose regardless. She turned the faucet and let water pour into the tub. Slowly it filled until it reached the brim and she casually shut the faucet. She slowly stepped in, her delicate skin softly piercing the water as her leg descended into the tub. The water was drawn in through a nearby river, so it was often cold to the touch, but she didn’t mind. In fact she rather enjoyed the sensation against her skin. Slowly she let her entire body into the tub, the cool water flowing over her figure, leaving only a faint outline of her form beneath the surface. A smile appeared on her face as she washed herself, delicately, most likely due to her feline qualities. When she finally finished her morning ritual, she lifted herself from the water and allowed the tub to drain.

Heading back into her bedroom she grabbed several pieces of clothing that she often wore. It wasn’t much, a simple brown skirt, a white shirt cut short to reveal her midriff and to accentuate her bust, a short brown coat that she wore on top, and a pouch attached to a belt. Of course these bits were secondary, compared to a single pendant with a green stone that she hung gently around her neck. She’d often look at herself in a mirror when she wore it and smiled.

“Good morning mother...”
she would often say to the pendant, but I’m sure many of you will ask why.

This pendant after all meant a great deal to her. It once belonged to her mother and was passed onto her after her mother’s death. It was the only real link to family that she had as she never knew who her father was. Needless to say it was the most precious item that she possessed and yet unbeknownst to her she was more correct in believing that than she ever dreamed imaginable, as the pendant was one of the four pendants of the elements.

She looked at herself in the mirror once more, before putting on her brown boots and strapping belt to her side that possessed two daggers and a sword. She found that it was a dangerous world and so she carried these weapons, always hoping never to need them. Quietly she headed out the door and stepped into the sunlight.

Her head turned skywards, “Ah, another beautiful day!” she said with a smile as she headed towards the town, her tail swinging happily behind her. This is where we shall leave this woman for now as I move on to tell you about the next character in this story of ours, a young man led only by the breeze of the winds.
