I'm gonna try to post these in some semblance of order, but I'm sure I'll mix quite a few of them up. Anyway, here're my 2008 avatars (I think).
This was sort of my winter 2007 avatar as well, but it's what I rang in the new year with last year. This was one of my first avatars that I was really proud of. I got quite a few comments that the shoes didn't match, but until Gaia makes better teal shoes, or lets guys use those teal ones girls can wear, there's not much to be done about it.
I'm unsure about the order of these next two, but oh well.
This was a rather strange avatar of mine, but I really wanted to use the new, lime green shirt and shoes in an avatar when they came out. I had the mask from a previous avatar that I don't think I saved a picture from. I wish I had.
This one was very obviously prompted by the release of kitty slippers for Gaia's anniversary. Looking back on it, I think the skull pin looks stupid, but I remember using it because the hat had a light spot there. I'm pretty fond of the torso layering on this one, and happy that I was able to use that yellow mtv shirt as well as my coco. It makes me remember that I didn't save my swimp (the orphan with all the cats) "cosplay" avatar, and regret it.
This was sort of the spring counterpart to the winter avatar that I started the year with. It was my first time using light yellow, which is a color I like but find difficult to use on Gaia. I tooled around with the facial expression on this a bit, but ended up coming back to this one.
I think this is about where this one happened, though I get the feeling I may be totally off on that. This was another one I was happy to be able to use a color in - light green. I was also happy to use that pose of the elemental hair, since I'm very fond of it.
I think this one's around here. It was real nice to use the drome egg raptor in an avatar, since I'd made a tektek with it previously and it just hadn't worked out. The shades on the shoes and raptor are a bit off, but didn't and still don't mind.
My undertaker avatar. I liked this one enough to make a themed rating thread based solely around it, and then to change back to it later and revive the thread. I originally made it to use the alruna's rose bat, but when I changed back to it ended up using the skin and my little black bat. I think the little black bat works better, even though I miss using the alruna's rose bat. I like this color combo a lot.
I'm not very sure where this one fits, but I'm gonna put it here anyway. This was a very different style for me, but I like it. A few people didn't like these gloves with it, but their trim matches the clouds on the hakama, and I like how bulky they are.
Two of my favorite avatars from this year both used the same hair; pretty shocking since I change my hair often. Oddly enough, this avatar sprung from liking how the eyes looked with the hair, and going from there. I got a ton of compliments for using the magic the gathering plains orb on this avatar.
These next two I only had very briefly.
This is what I consider one of my failed avatars for the year. I tried to make something that looked spooky, and it just didn't work out. I changed out of this avatar very quickly.
I think this one's a bit less of a failure than the previous, but still not one I'm proud of. It was kinda a goofing around and liking the face avatar. I don't think I kept it for more than about a day though.
Strangely enough, one of my winter-looking avatars happened much before winter, though I did use it briefly before changing to my real x-mas avatar this year. It was nice to use my angelic sash again. It was my first quested for item, back in 03 when there wasn't any way to make gold aside from posting. I love the item, but it's damn difficult to use well in an avatar.
My picolotrosso's urn and gimpi aligned perfectly for this avatar. If either'd been at a different evolution stage this wouldn't'a happened. My first black and white (not sure if it could really be called monochrome) avatar. Very simple, but I like the actual outfit on it.
Oh how the AT can change. This was a remake of last year's halloween avatar, which went over very well, but this year didn't get much love. I still like it though talk2hand It's been over a year since I reported the glitch that demonic anklets and kill l0cke pants don't layer together properly, and it's still not fixed. The alruna's rose did offer a nice alternative though.
This was my real halloween avatar this year, and damn I love this one. The idea was a ghost that was "falling to pieces," and I think I pulled it off well. I suppose that I coulda added blood, and more creepy things, but I really like it as it is. I'm definitely going to switch back to this avatar at some point.
I love these colors. I don't care of it's not original or the AT doesn't approve or what have you - this is an avatar that I made just for myself. I finally got the gift box wings for this after changing from it. I'll have to go back to it some time and actually use them with it.
My grunny! I hadn't made a cosplay avatar in a hell of a long time, and I like how this one turned out. In particular, I like the pose of dionaesil I used as the ears. Xolkiyr was amazing and gave me a gift of the gods to complete this avatar. I'm still really grateful.
I feel bad, but I ended up changing avatars a lot in december this year. This is my winter beast, that's best left out in the cold. I wrote up a brief description for it when I asked for rates, but I don't really wanna bother copying and pasting it. I wanted to use ears of the black beast with this, but unfortunately the ninja hood, in any pose, unequips all forms of ears.
This was my x-mas avatar. It went along well with my down to earth gift giving thread. I'm normally not big on clowns, but this just worked out so well. A few people complained about the matching of this being off, but I really don't see it. I think they were just being crazy picky.
I've got one last avatar for last year. However, it's also my first avatar of this year, so I'm going to give it its own post.
