Chapter: ONE

Others
Continued

When Gon returned a women walked into the house beside him. Her light brown hair gracefully fell across her face in a wave, the back pinned up for a messy, yet gentle look. Her perfect delicate face glowed and her flawless sapphire eyes glimmered. She carried about her the sweetest most relaxing aroma I’ve ever encountered. She wore two golden bracelets, one on each wrist, which bounced with her movements perfectly as she walked. Her yellow tank-top shirt left the rest of her arms bare, and was marked with a symbol of a feather. When she walked she seemed to brighten up the dark house, giving it a warm feeling.

“Kai,” Gon began the introduction, “this is Mia. She passes by this village from time to time, for she travels frequently. She stays with us not because she is demonic, but because she is angelic. Though being the opposite of our kind she still acquires demon abilities such as twice the strength and speed of a normal human. Instead of “changing” like we do, she summons things.”
“Pleased to meet you,” Mia said, “Are you interested to see some of my ability?” I nodded intrigued.

Mia closed both her eyes and took in a deep breath. A faint glow came about her; it then focused down into her hands. She brought her two hands close and cupped them together as if she was going to get a drink from a river. She opened her eyes and the glow became a light which dimly flashed in a brief second. When it had ceased a small white creature rested in her palms. It was no larger than her fist, and had short soft white fur. Two wings were perched on its back covered in glossy white feathers. At first I thought it was a bird, but I looked closer and saw that it didn’t have a beak. Its face was small and, cute in a way. It had two little blue eyes, and looked up at me with a sort of a puppy-eyes look. It had a small thin golden tail, which matched the color of Mia’s bracelets.
“I named him Cho.” Mia said in the softest voice. If voices could resemble fabrics, hers would be like silk. “He was the first being I had ever summoned and one of my favorites too.” She said closing her eyes and smiling.
“Mia has made a long journey getting here, and she needs some rest.” Gon said.
“I can speak and care for myself Gon,” Mia said in a teasing voice, “I’m not five anymore.”
“Hmpf.” That was all Gon had to say in reply.
“Welcome back Mia.” Dekun said, speaking for the first time since Gon’s return. “Glad to see you’re still in one piece.”
“Dekun, you’re quiet as ever, and just as grey too!” I could see Mia was a happy, fun-loving person just from the first couple of minutes I’d been around her. But it didn’t bother me one bit.

“So Mia,” I asked, “How did you meet Gon?”
“Well,” She started; I could tell from her tone that her story would be similar to Dekun’s in that it would be long, yet interesting. “I was five and already had discovered my summoning ability, though at the time the only being I knew how to summon was Cho. When I was little I loved to summon him and play with him like any child would a stuffed animal, except mine was alive. Cho was my best friend, but, my only friend. Once word got out in my old village that I could summon “monsters”, the people resented me. I was banned from any education, food stores, or any form of shop. My parents were never angelic, some people, like me, are just born that way. Instead of being the monster, (no offense), I summoned them. The people of my village sought this to be worse. They tried to get my parents to abandon me, and through me out of the village, but my mom couldn’t bear losing me. Then Gon came to my town with Dekun, who I thought was a big talking kitty because of the tail.”
“Which you just had to pull.” Dekun said glumly.
“Sorry. Anyways, Gon talked with my mom and she decided that it was best for me if I went with him and Dekun. Although he was only eleven at the time, Gon was quite convincing. He surprised my parents with his vast vocabulary, and intelligence. I lived with him and Dekun for five more years; they’re like brothers to me. At ten I decided to go out and find the city of Yuledna. I had heard that hundreds of angelic people live there, and that any were welcome to stay.”
“Well?” I asked, “Did you find it? Were there angelic people there?”
“Oh yes!” She exclaimed. “The whole city consist of angelic folk, the walls are built of pretty white marble and gold. It was the most beautiful place I’d ever seen. I traveled with Gon’s older sister, Linea, just in case anything was to happen to me. Sadly afterward she went her own separate path and left Gon and Dekun.”
“So then if the city was so beautiful and was filled with your own people why did you leave it and start traveling so much?” I asked confused.
“After spending two years in Yuledna I wanted to discover more beautiful places, so I started to travel, of course visiting from time to time.” Mia said smiling. “But this time, I plan to stay.” As she said this I could see the surprise on Gon’s face, and the discomfort on Dekun’s. I myself was a little shocked by the sudden proposal. I wonder what Gon has to say about that.
