Before I start this particular rant, let me clear something up. I do know that dang near everybody has taken a shot at our favorite love-to-hate lawyer/geriatric, but I can't help myself. That being said: *Rant On* There are six and a half billion people in this world and, almost without exception, each one has their own moral and ethical code. Many of them may be the same, but each one, like snowflakes, is just a bit different than the next. These differences tend to cause more problems than not, but, when each person follows their own, and leaves others the same right, things run pretty smoothly. I'm not here to preach about my own morals (and lack of that thereof), just simply to draw awareness. Now with all these people, there are bound to be a little friction. That's why things like movie ratings have come into play. Judging by a specific rating, a person can decide if the movie is something that fits within their moral code, and choose whether or not to watch it. This system has worked wonderfully, and the results have been fantastic. Everybody gets to watch what they want, and nobody is tricked into watching what they don't. Now with the introduction of a new media, videogames, a similar system was set in place. Unfortunately, people choose to ignore this more often than not. As such, many young children get games that aren't appropriate for them. Is this the ratings system's fault? Of course not, it's the ignorant parents'. Some parents are upset at this, however, and they do have a small argument, but this in itself is not the problem.
Throughout history, when people have been accused of crimes, they try to find ways to weasel out of it. It's baisic human nature. Everything from books to the "Voice of God" has been used as scapegoats. Unfortunately, videogames have recently been given the blame too. Now, this normally wouldn't be a problem. There might be a few negative news blurbs, maybe an article or two, and that's about it. However, our favorite Geriatric Satan-incarnate has decided to stick his wrinkled behind into the whole mess. Ignoring the fact that he has a massive amount of money to gain from it, he claims to be doing this for some sort of "moral" good. Now do you see what I meant when I said everything works better when morals are kept personal? Gah, I can't write any more on this. I just may start foaming at the mouth. *Rant Off*
