The Tao Te Ching is a book that was written around 6000 BCE; it explains how to live in peace with the Tao. The Tao is the mother of the universe, in a literal sense, it is unchanging and infinite. There are four forces that work in harmony with each other : Man, Earth, Tao, and Universe; the man exists on the earth, which exists in the universe, that follows the Tao, and the Tao follows itself. The Tao cannot be explained by words or feelings, because we cannot relate it to anything we have encountered. To comprehend the Tao, you have to unlearn everything you know to be true or false.
In chapter 25, the book says, “Empty. Solidarity. Unchanging. Infinate.Eternally present. It is the mother of the universe. For lack of a better name, I call it the Tao.” According to the author, the Tao is more than the universe, it gave part of itself to become the universe. The existence is not clearly stated in this chapter, but the text does say, “It flows through all things ,inside and outside, and returns to the origin of things.” The job of the Tao is vaguely explained, but my understanding of it is, the Tao is the flow of energy throughout the universe; the Tao also controls the nature of space-time because time does not affect the eternal.
In conclusion, the Tao is something that flows around us; it shares its power with the universe, earth, and man. The Tao is a force that controls the energy flow of the universe and the nature of matter. The Tao is an eternal force that does not change, but it can affect the things around it. The Tao is described beautifully in the Tao Te Ching, and it sounded poetic....
