The Diary of Emira Brightleaf
Writing space is always fun to scribble in.
'Lord' Sano takes a step towards me. He's scowling at me, too. Must not be used to rejection much. "Let me rephrase that. You will put me in touch with the elven council. It is imperative that I speak with them."

I hold my ground as he advances. He may have his little guard dog with him, but that doesn't mean I'll tell him everything he wants. "And why would I do that?" I lean back against the brick wall behind me, dabbing at the cuts on my neck from Miyuri's fingernails. She glares at me from a couple feet away, but makes no move to hurt me.

Sano's eyes narrow. He can tell I'm toying with him. I wonder if he knows that I wouldn't put him in touch with Master Aki even if he tortured me. I suppose the only thing he could do was either kill me or let me go.

Then he smiled at me. I can't believe he's smiling at a time like this. "You would do well to answer me because if you don't, the leeches will kill you and your kin."

I stare. Yeah right. That'll never happen. They could possibly have that kind of power. My eyes flick to Miyuri's face. Ok, creepy expression. Dark glare, obviously hatred, mixed with a little bit of fear. Not a good mix on her face. I was thinking nothing could scare her. "Wait a second, back up. How do you know about the council? And what I am? How could you possibly know that?"

Sano gives me a look, like I should know the answer to my question. I stare at him, trying to come up with the answer myself.

Ok. Miyuri is fast enough to catch up to me without giving me time to react. And she's strong enough to lift me off my feet, despite her slight stature. She's obviously very loyal to 'Lord' Sano. He's her superior.
Fast and strong and loyal. Ah. I got it. Werewolves. Obvious.

That's definitely creative. If I could rate this I would give it 4/5 stars. It doesn't quite keep my attention fixed but it does have some spice to it. Work on your approach, less words with more meaning. A dictionary and a thesaurus is all you need to get some good novel material going.
