Vin's Thoughts
Le' Vil

User Image

Appearance: This prancing bard is a half elf, standing at 5' 7", and weighing only 120 lbs. His chosen clothing is a jester-like outfit in the colors of white and black, with the exception of the heart design on the chest of his clothing being red in color to symbolize a broken heart. His face and skin appear to be totally white, bleached from some untold method, be it paint or magic, with black markings drawn under each of his grim-looking eyes. Bells jingle from his hat everytime he dances about, their sound adding to the music that he plays from his instruments or sing from his high-pitched voice. He has great control over the tone, pitch, and volume of his voice, allowing him to play a wide spectrum of notes on the music scale, a trait that comes from him being half elf and half human. On both of his ears, he wears metal earrings that vibrate and release tiny chings much like wind chimes. He carries around a black magical lute that has various designs of runic language, which can transform into a flute, a violin, a cello, and oddly a scythe.

Personality: Picture a smiling jester with a sadistic look on his face, like a clown who makes some pretty grim jokes. Le' Vil is this type of person, a man whose smile is brought on by the sick happiness of his past tragedies, and thus, whenever he goes about on his usual wanderings, he mostly plays dirges and speak of stories that always end in tragedies. His intention is to always make the people who listen to him to end up sad, like himself, and to have to them know the pain that he is constantly feeling in his broken heart. He likes to speak in poetry, often times leaving people baffled of what his words mean. Since his view on life is that everything will end with tragedy, he tends to say that there is no hope to any situation of it ever turning out good, so he has a tendency of discouraging people more than encouraging, the opposite of a stereotypical bard. This is why a lot of his magic consists of ruining a person's state of mind or state of body.

Le' Vil has mainly two personalities, but they both share the same logic: happy and gloomy. When he's happy, his voice is light and his mood is falsely cheery, prancing about while giving an upbeat tune to his music. In this mood, his magic tends to be more defensive and supportive to those around him. This is the only mood when he's helpful in cheering someone up or helping out a group of friends, even if he has weird twists of off-key notes every now and then. When he becomes gloomy, however, he loses a lot of his cheery energy and instead has a slow, meditative atmosphere about him when playing his music, which turns instantly into dirges, the music you hear at funerals. In this state of mind, his music is more offensive, bringing about pain and suffering to those he marks as enemies. However, any magic he uses to support his friends will usually come with a tradeoff of helping them and hurting them, to show the tragedy philosophy he possesses. The moods change randomly, if not by will. If he wants to go from happy to gloomy, he will psyche himself into it by reciting a brief sad poem. If he wants to go vice versa, he takes a pause to recite something with a better mood.

Equipment

Lute of Sorrow - A black magical instrument that has the ability to transform into a flute, violin, cello, and the weapon that is a scythe. When he wants it to become a flute, he would say flûte; violon for violin; violoncelle for cello; faux for sycthe; then lut to return it to a lute. He can change it to any state with no specific order assigned. The instrument is made out of the durable darkwood of the exotic forests, so combined with a magical enchantment, it can sustain a lot of damage before it breaks. When in scythe mode, the handle is about four feet long, a bit curved with the blade at the end being three feet long from the handle. In addition to its shapeshifting properties, it enhances the magical potential of Le' Vil's songs when he uses it.

This instrument was obtained when Le' Vil visited a witch in the same forest that held the darkwood trees. Seeing the pain his heart had recently went through, she granted him the instrument to help him relieve the pain, also telling him how it will make him a better bard. Little did he know that wielding the instrument itself was tainting his heart and instead making his pain even worse.

Ring of Prancing - Settle on his right middle finger is a blue ring with a white diamond on it. This ring allows him to skate across the ground as if its ice on command of the word Dancer. When the enchantment is on, his feet would glow a faint blue, and friction will become nearly non-existant. However, it increases his agility and manueverability along the ground. He obtained this ring as a gift from a king for a good performance during his years before he became the dirge singer that he is.

Ring of Insomnia - Settled on his left ring finger is a black glossy ring with an image of an eye on it. This ring allows for the wearer to never need sleep again. In effect, however, the person will be unable to go or be put to sleep. As a side effect on his body, the eyes take on a dark ring around them, which forced Le' Vil to add face paint in order to hide the look. This ring was picked up during one of his adventures in a far away land, purchasing it from one of the merchants who sold many rare items to visitors.

Water of the Singers - A canteen of water that was gathered from an elven fountain in a city he once visited during his "happy" years. When he drinks a drop of it, his mouth and throat will never become parched for up to twenty four hours, allowing him to sing without fatiguing himself or drying his mouth out. For the time being, he has only several drops left, but he tends to refill it at the elven cities he visits.

Abilities

The Power of the Bard - Through music that he creates through any method, Le' Vil can use it to channel his taught magic into effect. Simple spells are brought on instantly, while more high level spells require an amount of time of playing before it comes into effect. He can only have one spell going at a time, but he can play as many spells as he wants per day, as long as he has the stamina to do so. Any sound-based abilities used by another person can be countered by Le' Vil simply playing against it, but he will not be able to use a spell of his own until he stops the counter playing.

Half Elf - Being a half elf has given the flexibility of a human, while he is given the traits of an elf. His eyes are capable of seeing in low lit places, giving him a range of vision up to fifty feet. His ears allow him to pick out better details in sound than others, which attributes to him having the ability to memorize notes better than others and mimic it after a few times of listening to it. His body gives him the needed flexibility to move about with agility, though he has not developed his strength or constitution enough to have him survive head to head against a fit brawler. He's a singer, not a fighter.

But at the same time, Le' Vil cannot move himself, other than the part of his body that is playing the music. The stronger an enemy is, the more time it takes for the spell to work. Or he simply cannot freeze them at all based on stronger magical protections.

History

Le' Vil's true name was once Len Villon, son of a great opera singer by the name of Francesa Sennet, his mother. He grew up in a singing and instrument playing family, as his elven father, Machoir Sennet, usually played the piano at his wife's plays. Len's first instrument was the lute, and he became attached to it ever since. His love for music felt unquenched, so he was picking up other instruments as he was going along, further become a genius at singing, dancing and playing for others entertainment. By the age of 14, he was already playing at his own concerts. It wasn't until the age of 16 when he met a human girl by the name of Shive, who was a great singer herself, but still young in the poetry business. However, her poems enticed him, and his enticed herm, eventually making them into lovers that were bonded by the power of music. They planned to marry during the next spring. Unfortunately, their time was cut short by a horrible event.

A massacre was staged by a rival opera theater who hired assassins. Unknown to Len, there had been some bad blood between the two owners of the most popular performing organizations in the city of Delva. Because of a recent fight, the coup was staged, most of the performers of the event being killed, which included Len's parents and his fiance. The only reason he was not killed was because he was late to the event, having had to find a new violin after his old one suddenly was broke after crashing to the floor that morning. When he came upon the scene, he saw his loved ones lying there in their blood, being able to do nothing but fall to his knees and cry, wishing to just die right where he sat. This sadness would soon bring about an anger that he could not silence in his heart, and use it to bring about sadness to all of the world. He wanted everyone to realize his dream that everything was tragedy, despite how happy things may look.

He wandered into a darkwood forest where he soon met a witch who understood what he was going through, using her scrying skills to see into what events had happened recently with her crystal ball. To help him, she gave him the Lute of Sorrow, telling him that this instrument will magnify his musical abilities. However, in truth, this was just her own twisted way of magnifying his sorrow instead, as the musical instrument would slowly bring his heart more and more into corruption, making him more cynical as time goes. And so he went about, taking on the role of a bard, playing his music. At first, he tried to put on a smile. But that smile felt so false that he was starting to feel that depression settle on his soul, the everlasting cry of his sadness always sounding in his heart to the point that he became psychologically screwed up, unable to think clearly nor by conscious. In the end, he became a man who hated life, and would make it his intention to ruin those who were around.

Thus, Le' Vil was born.
