Ishy's Ramblings (Ignore most of 'em)
Blah... Everything that pops into my head goes here.
A Short Story
The demon shook his hair out of his eyes. The deep brown, which had a near bluish tint to it, was wet, yet no rain fell from the sky. Sam tightened his grip on the great axe that was his weapon. The sounds of gunshots and battle cries rang loudly in his ears, making it difficult to tell from where his attackers were.

He was breathing hard, and fine lines of blood dripped from here and there. Again he wiped the sweat from his eyes, realizing that the longer he fought, the smaller his chances of escaping were.

In an instant he was surrounded once more. Sam swung his axe, hard, but he was slowing down. He heard the screech of metal on metal and ducked down behind his weapon. Quickly though, the young demon looked up to see his father holding back the soldiers.

"Get Gwen and head out. I will meet up with you in the city. Quick." The man's voice was gruff and ragged from his own battles.

Sam nodded, slipping out of sight behind another building where both his younger sisters waited. He smiled softly, but once again a frown beat it back. "Cass, Dad needs your help. I am going to get Gwen out of here."

His sister nodded, releasing her own other sibling to her brother. "Be careful Sam."

The brother nodded, taking his youngest sibling, who had tears running down her cheeks from her mother's recent loss. She held on to Sam tightly, almost on the verge of choking him. The elder sibling shook hands, and with a muttered "see you soon" headed out in different directions.

* * *

The two had only been traveling for an hour or so when Sam was forced to take a break. He was exhausted from fighting, and then running for a long time, and his legs were about to give out on him. Guenivere had fallen asleep on his back. He had hoped they would let them go, and on a whim, had left Gwen on her own for only a moment to get wood for a fire.

But... in the distance, the roar of engines had stopped him. And he rushed back only to find their trucks with a tracker on the two's scent. And they were between him and his sister. Sam quickly cursed his stupidity, and prayed that they wouldn't find her, but he knew that soon his little sister would be possibly captured or killed.

The demon pulled his axe loose, and held it tightly in his hands. Faintly his eyes shone with a ruby vibrance in the dark. And as a scream hit his ears the darkness deepened around him. His eyes glowed with much more intensity, but a gunshot cut it all off.

A soldier, not exactly young but obviously inexperienced in the field held out a pistol.

Sam fell backwards, clutching at the hole in his chest, but he bit his tongue to keep from crying out in pain and giving himself away. The tracker was busy with another scent and was having problems finding the demons' under their incense.

"Davis!" The harsh cry of the commander addressed the soldier who fired. The man's hand flew, for lack of a better word, towards his forehead. "Sorry Sir! It must have been a squirrel!"

The commander scoffed. "Stop shooting at the damn animals. You gave away our position. Now go see if you hit anything and clean up the area. I don't see why we were forced to bring you. We didn't even have an injured."

"Y-Y-Yessir!" the soldier stammered before bolting towards the injured demon. As soon as he reached the trees, he hunkered down beneath the brush.
"Just so you are aware, demon, I am not trying to kill you. Hold still, I can heal that up real quick."

Sam froze. Had the entire thing been an act. Was this man trying to save him? Soon the soldier cam into view, even though it was dark, his very english features were obvious. The man placed a hand over the wound, healing it quickly.

"Names Sean. I am trying to help you guys out as best I can, so please don't kill me." he begged, before returning to the line, informing the rest of his platoon that he must have missed.

Again, attention was turned to finding the demon's scents in the trees. And the tracker had finally stumbled upon a sleeping child whose heritage was obvious. Sam tried to rise, but his body was numb. And the needle scar in his shoulder gave him the proof that it was a drug running through his system. He cursed the doctor, but could do little about the situation.

But, no... He could see Gwen's shape above the foliage. He could hear her, and could hear equally well the gun fired in her direction by the commander himself. Even in the dark, Sam could tell that his sister had fallen, and he could almost hear her lack of breath.

Quickly, however, she was standing again. Her sibling could see the light reflected from her bleeding skull, on either side of her temple just in front of her ear. Yet her eyes glowed such a brilliant red that it was near blinding, even when they had once bee such a docile blue. The energies she emitted were so strong they cause Sam to feel dizzy, and before long, he lost consciousness. Just somewhere between the screams of a couple men, the shouts of more, and the roaring of an engine.
