This is a poem I wrote for english class when I was a Freshman. It's referring to a tree disease but also makes refferences to my life. Comment if you like it.
Little Tree
Little tree I can see you wilt,
I can see you’re branches die,
But not a person feels the guilt,
That should well up inside,
Little tree your heart is dying,
As the sickness slowly spreads,
And deep inside your heart is crying,
Though tears you’ll never shed.
Little tree the sickness vows,
To keep on ‘til the end,
There’s yellow on your branches now,
But no help will they send,
So as the sickness makes it’s way,
Along your fragile form,
You know inside death won’t delay,
To take you when you’re worn.
You know the sickness will not stop,
For the hunters have come by,
They’ve marked you with that orange spot,
And labeled you to die,
There is no hope of living,
You’re years have been lived out,
There’s no one to be giving,
A promise you won’t doubt,
Now your bark is yellow,
And branches have fallen away,
Never again will they say hello,
For this is your final day,
Little tree the hunters are here,
To take you from the earth,
The fires will burn you with your tears,
And swallow your joy and mirth,
Swallow your tears and sorrow,
Swallow your every fear
And when the children come tomorrow,
You will not be here,
But I will tell the children,
That all will be ok,
You’ll Whisper songs into the breeze,
To the children as they play,
Now the hunters take their saws,
And violently cut you down,
The pain is from your flaws,
They’re the reason you were found,
They are why you’re dying,
The flaws that bring such pain,
They are what’s left you crying,
They are why you were slain,
And now that you are gone,
They will burn you to save,
The rest of the trees in the forest,
Who the sickness has made a slave,
Come to heaven Little tree,
With oak and elm and fir,
You’ll be the main attraction,
For inside you're still pure.
