A cold rain fell on her face as she looked upon the bloated carcasses of the demons; the stone ruins were covered in their shredded bodies. All were killed without mercy. Her hair lay matted to her head and tears streamed down her face. Koba had never killed this much in such a short amount of time. Would he ever be satisfied?
She was covered in demon’s blood along with her weapon. Why? I never wanted this, I never asked for this. Why me?
Her hand gripped the weapon’s staff tighter; she turned away from her victims and looked up at the dark gray clouds that hid the sky. The wind whipped her torn robe around her and she felt his power still stirring inside her, churning and frothing, never calm.
She lifted her arms up, letting the rain cleanse her from his filth. His terrible filth that she was cursed to bear. The puddles throughout the ruins were stained red; the water did little to ease her pain as the blood trickled down her body. Her weapon clattered to the ground and she fell to her knees sobbing. Clutching her arms she raised her head and screamed at the top of her lungs, “Why does it have to be this way!”
Her cries were carried away by the wind. No one would hear her. No one would help her. No one would hold her and whisper in her ear that it would be alright. She was utterly alone.
She rocked on her heels and let her fear take over; shivering as the wind and rain increased. Minutes passed like hours, her eyes dry from all the crying but still she sat hunched in a ball. As her tears were replaced by rain drops she began to feel the fatigue that Koba had caused her. Her eyes grew heavy and the hold she had around her legs began to release.
~Sleep child. You are weak and need rest.
No, never. I will never obey you.
~Yes you will, even now you are succumbing to the fatigue.
No-I will never…obey…you…
Her eyes shut against her will. Her arms went limp against her will. He was in control, always in control.
“I will overcome you. That I swear.” With her last declaration she fell on her side and allowed the darkness to envelop her one last time. I swear it.
