What I do in my spare time and stuff. Also some of my thoughts and feelings (not really).
Feral One
Sample from Rose's Emblem High with their week of tragic happenings.

“Well…that went horribly,” Petrine spoke, leaning up against Ena’s desk as she watched the board members leave the office.

“What other way could it have gone?” Ena asked, still typing away at her computer. She watched as the green-haired woman shrugged before taking the nearest cup in reach. “You could’ve tried to clean up a little bit. I mean, you leave coffee cups all over the place, and I don’t know why you do it.”

“So that wherever I go, there’s a drink waiting for me,” Petrine answered, before draining the rest of the liquid from her drink. “I’ll just work my way around the office.”

“I hope so, because it’s starting to feel like Signs in here,” Ena muttered. “Next thing you know, you’ll be saying the coffee’s contaminated or whatnot.” she looked up as something shattered on the ground. “Did you drop that cup? I’m not picking up the shards…not after what happened last time.”

“Aw man, I think all that alcohol is coming back to me,” Petrine groaned, clutching at her stomach as shots of pain crippled her abdomen. “I’m going to go sit down for awhile.”

“What seems to be the problem?” Ena asked, showing some concern for the woman’s behavior.

“My insides want to be on my outside,” Petrine answered. “It’s killing me.”

“Well, how’s it feel?” she questioned.

Petrine paused for a moment. “It’s killing me. I’m not sure if you caught that the first time.”

Ena scrawled slightly at her comment. “Well, go sit down for a moment, I’m sure it’ll pass in time.” she watched as the older woman shuffled into her office and slammed her door closed. She thought she heard a slight growl, but decided to ignore it.

Half an hour drew by and Ena paused in her work as she heard a low growl emerge from Petrine’s room. What has gotten into that woman? she thought before shrugging it off. Growling over a little tummy ache, you need to grow up Petrine! A few more minutes passed by and she jumped as something crashed inside her office. “Petrine?” she spoke, getting up slightly at the noise. “Is everything okay?” she felt a little weird calling out to seemingly no one, but leaving Petrine alone in a room was even beginning to seem dangerous. She’s probably just trying to do something to take her mind off the pain she thought, starting to settle back in her chair. She jolted to her feet as a hand smashed against the small glass window of her door. “If you’re trying to scare me, it’s not working.” Ena retorted, watching as the hand twitched slightly before the fingers curled and slid out a few. A high-pitched squeal emerged as nails drug over the glass. You’re going to have to grow up one of these days Petrine! she growled to herself before settling back in her seat.

An hour later-

Ashnard looked up from the paperwork in front of him as some sort of shouting emerged from the front office.

“What the hell are those two doing now?” he muttered, running a hand through his hair before he put his pencil down and got up to investigate. Leaving his office, he walked down the small hallway and into the office.

“Petrine! Stop it! You’re seriously beginning to scare me now!” Ena shouted, before quickly ducking beneath her desk.

“What is going on around here?” Ashnard asked, watching as their pink-haired office assistant jumped again before looking back to him.

“I don’t know. Something’s wrong with Petrine though,” Ena answered.

“Why don’t you go check in on her?” he questioned.

“Listen to that,” she replied, as a thick growl, almost roar, came from her office. Following shortly by several crashes and a loud crack that almost shook the wall. It was a few moments before Sigrun emerged from her own office.

“Petrine! I’ve had enough! You need to calm down!” Sigrun shouted, the first time she ever looked flustered at the woman’s action. She looked to the other two, who seemed only slightly confused. “She put her fist through my wall.”

“Something is seriously wrong with her,” Ena spoke, as she stood now. “I think we should call 911 or someone.”

“Do she have something bad to eat?” Sigrun asked, although her tone played on teasing or serious.

“No, although she was complaining of a stomach ache earlier,” Ena answered.

“Which cup did she drink from?” Ashnard asked, before looking over a white cup with a faded ‘My Little Pony’ design that Ena pointed too. He walked over and picked it up. “She actually drinks from this?”

“That’s one of her favorite cups…next to the Speed Racer one,” Ena replied, watching as he examined the cup. “What, do you think it was something she drank? Now admitted, it was two day old coffee.”

“No…it’s something else,” Ashnard muttered, noticing a white substance at the bottom of the cup. “Was anyone else in here?”

“The board members, but that was an hour ago,” Ena answered, jumping as the door to Petrine’s office was slammed against, causing it to jump against the frame. “Why?”

“Because I think one of them may be the cause of this,” Ashnard spoke, just as the solid crack split the middle of the door into splinters. “Which reminds me, we might want to leave the office before she gets out.”

“What are you talking about?” Sigrun questioned.

“You ever been around a Feral One?” Ashnard replied.

“You don’t think…,” Ena started, before a hand shot out from the door. Fingers seemingly mangled as nails were sharpened like claws. The dragon backed away before nodding to Ashnard. “I think I’ll go along with your plan to run.”

“I don’t-” Sigrun started, before Ashnard practically drug her out of the office by the scuff of her shirt. Ena following closely behind before the closed and locked the door to the office.

“Okay, it won’t last long with these windows, so we should probably try and keep everyone else as safe as possible,” Ena started. “Really, all we need to do is get one class and the rest of the school will know in six seconds.”

“I think I know the class,” Ashnard replied.

“I’m confused.” Sigrun whispered.

“…And that is why I’m not allowed around the blender at home anymore,” Boyd finished, leaning back in his seat across Nephenee’s desk.

“Sounds painful,” Ike commented.

“Not for me,” Boyd shrugged. “And as long as it didn’t happen to me, that’s okay.”

“How many stitches?” Elincia asked.

“Uh…thirty-three, I think,” he answered, smiling some as Nephenee ran her fingers through his green hair. “It was pretty nasty.”

“I can’t believe you did that you Rolf,” Ike remarked.

“Hey man, he got in the way first,” Boyd sighed. “Although Oscar wasn’t too happy about it and we all ended up getting in a shouting match over it. Best. Night. Ever.”

“He’s always like that,” Ike whispered to Elincia, who nodded in acknowledgement. He looked up as the door opened and Ena walked looking slightly pale and disturbed.

“Ena? Is something wrong?” Tanith asked.

“Um...no,” Ena answered, rubbing the back of her neck. “I’m just going to have to ask everyone in here to possibly message everyone on their phone list and tell them to not go outside of the classroom.”

Tanith stared at her for a moment, before walking over to her. “Ena, what’s really going on?” she whispered, before turning to the class. “Uh, go on with the texting thing.”

“Uh, Petrine got poisoned,” Ena whispered in answered, glancing now and then to see if anyone else was eavesdropping. “But it’s not any other kind of poison…it’s a Feral Elixir.”
“Christ!” Tanith hissed through her teeth. “With Petrine…God I hope she doesn’t get her Flame Lance.”

“Christ! I forgot about that!” Ena cursed. “It’s in her office!” she looked back as the door opened and Ashnard slipped in. His beard slightly scorched.

“Yeah…she got her Flame Lance.” he spoke.

“What’s going on?” Boyd asked, never moving much from her earlier position. “Something up with Petrine?”

“She’s fine,” Ena answered.

“She’s a Feral One?” Rafiel asked, causing everyone in the room to look at the two administrators.

“I also forgot Herons can read minds…,” Ena muttered, rubbing her temples. “Yes, Petrine may be a little on the…Feral side. But we’re getting this under control.”

“Ashnard, I found that shovel you asked for,” Sigrun spoke, as she slipped in as well.

“A shovel?” Tanith questioned.

“Well, we could always knock her out to buy more time,” Ashnard answered. “Or use it to knock her out in time to tie her up. I don’t really know what my reasons are.”

“Petrine as a Feral One? Dude…that sucks,” Skrimir commented from the other side of the room.

“Please now, there’s no need to panic here,” Ena replied, trying to ease the crowd. “We can still get this under control.”

“Oh cool would it be to be complete engulfed in flames,” Boyd remarked.

“You’re not helping,” Tanith countered.

“I wasn’t trying to,” he spoke.

“Okay…is there any kind of solution or other elixir that’ll cure her?” Sigrun asked.

Ena shook her head with a tired sigh. “No, not that I can remember. Most of the time…, ugh, most of the time they just fight till they eventually die.”

“That doesn’t sound good,” Sigrun muttered, crossing her arms. “So, are we just going to sit in here all day?”

“Nah, she’ll eventually find us,” Ashnard commented, barely flinching as a loud crash was heard outside followed by the roar of flames. “See.” he took the shovel and started to head out. “She is going to hate me for this. But she already hates me, so that’s okay.”

“We gotta find a way to stop her,” Tanith whispered. “Without getting the kids worried.”

“I think I read something about this a while back,” Sigrun replied. “Some kind of article or something. It said something about a song…”

“A song? Well I doubt the sounds of Nature will calm her down,” Ena sighed, before crossing her arms. Something should be able to stop her.

“Rafiel, sing me something,” Nailah yawned from the back of the classroom. “Help me calm down.”

“Me too,” Heather added.

“I’m not singing a Nickelback song,” he started.

“No, sing one of those Galdrs you’re famous for,” Nailah replied.

“Let me think of one,” Rafiel started.

“I wish there was an easier way to deal with rather than hitting her in the face with a shovel,” Ena muttered, rubbing her temples once more. She heard the Heron in the back hum to himself before starting to sing softly. It felt soothing to listen to the song. “But, alerting the police would just bring more harm than help. They’ll either kill her or put her in some kind of mental institute.”

“There’s no other way to contain her,” Sigrun muttered, feeling slightly relaxed at the soft words that were sung.

“Um…guys,” Tanith started, watching as everyone else in the room seemed to have relaxed. Several of them were falling asleep in their desks. “What’s going on?”

“It’s a Galdr,” Ena explained. “It’s what the Herons are known for. Their songs have been known to do all kinds of….things…” her sentence slowed down towards the end as a thought entered her mind. She caught both Tanith and Sigrun’s eyes before turning towards the class. “Rafiel!” she called, causing him to stop suddenly in mid word.

“Aw,” Nailah objected at the sudden stop.

“Can I see you for a moment?” Ena asked, watching as he nodded before getting up. Tussling Nailah’s gray curls as she passed by him, causing her to retaliate by pulling on one of his longest strands. “Uh, what were you just singing?”

“A Galdr,” he answered.

“Do you happen to have one that might…” Ena started, before hearing several growls and shouts from outside. “Possibly restore someone’s mind?”

“Yeah, but I haven’t really-” he spoke.

She grabbed his hand and pulled him out into the hallway as more curses were heard. She ducked slightly as the Flame Lance went flying overhead. Just barely missing Ashnard’s head. “Can you keep her distracted?”

“Oh, I’ve just been distracting her this entire time,” Ashnard muttered, sporting several new wounds.

“Okay, whatever you have to do,” Ena nodded, before turning back to Rafiel. “You know the Galdr, right?”

“Yeah, I’ve done it before,” he replied.

“Good, just sing whatever it is. I’m going to see if I can’t help a bit,” Ena spoke, before running into the battle. She watched as the older woman strolled towards them. Her eyes completely black, as veins seemed to be popping out from her neck. Her fingers clutched back and forth, with each nail clicking against one another. She was terribly threatening with that look.

“You should be lucky she doesn’t have her Flame Lance,” Ashnard commented, before watching as the figure dashed towards them. “Aw s**t…”

Taking a deep breath, Ena held it for a moment before letting it out. White flames spewed from her lips and engulfed the oncoming figure. She hated to hurt the woman, but it was either her or them. It didn’t seem to stop the woman though and she found herself knocked flat on her back from the painful blow to the face. “Aw…ow…damn.” she whispered, as she got up. Watching as Ashnard sent Petrine flying back with a matching blow.

“She’s tough, remind me to never piss her off,” Ashnard muttered, before getting tackled to the ground by the green-haired woman.

Ena shook her head before getting up. Listening as the beginning chorus of the Galdr started. For some odd reason the music allows seemed to help everyone relax. She looked up as Ashnard was literally wrestling Petrine on the ground. There seemed to be no affect on the woman. Come on, this has got to work! She thought, watching as Ashnard kicked Petrine off before getting to his feet.

“She is a mean b***h!” Ashnard growled, watching as the green haired woman charged him once more. Her nails cutting into his cheek and neck before she slammed him into the lockers, causing them to dent inward. Growling, she grabbed him by the shoulders and tossed him across the hallway. “Damn! Is that’s what it’s like to be tossed?” he muttered, rubbing the bloody spot at the base of skull. “I do that to people?”

“It’s not working…,” Ena whispered, even as the song was beginning to grow stronger there seemed to be no effect. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. It had to work.

“Ena!” she looked up at the voice. “Ena?!”

“Oh Christ!” she muttered, before starting down the hallway with a run. Sliding around the corner in time to see Almedha walking down, but the woman stopped upon seeing her. “Almedha, it’s not-” she started.

“Ena! Run!” Ashnard shouted, causing her to turn to see Petrine darting after her.

“s**t!” Ena cursed, as she ducked from the woman’s range. She rolled to her feet before looking up as Petrine seemed to notice the new prey.

“Hey…why are her eyes all black?” Almedha asked.

“Run!” Ena shouted, but it was too late. Petrine lunged at the first chance and took Almedha by the neck before tossing her through the glass of the front office. “********!” she shouted once more, before watching as Petrine turned towards her. She braced herself for a fight, but knew she was in no shape to do so. Petrine took a step towards her before suddenly finding herself skidding across the floor face first.

“You do not ******** hit me!” Almedha growled, jumping out of the now broken window. She walked over to the gathering figure.

This…is a bad idea Ena thought, watching as Petrine threw a punch only to have Almedha effortlessly block it with her forearm. Drawing her own fist back, the former Dragon landed a pain blow to the lower gut before a sharp uppercut to the chin. Epic battle of the year… she thought.

“Best. Fight. Ever.” Ashnard commented, watching as the two women began to brawl it out. Petrine landed a blow to Almedha’s throat, around the same time the woman kneed the green-haired woman in the stomach.

“Why isn’t the Galdr working?” Ena questioned.

“Maybe she can’t hear it,” Ashnard replied, even though the chorus was still echoing down the hallway. He sighed. “You know, I never knew how they managed to get those notes down.”

“Well, we need to get her closer,” Ena muttered. “Almedha! Can you see if you can push her down the hallway?!”

“No problem,” Almedha growled, kicking Petrine away before elbowing her in the chest. She followed up each attack to force the other woman back. Her ears perked slightly at the sound of the music. “Hey, is someone singing? It sounds nice.”

“It’s suppose to be a Galdr to help ease Petrine’s mind, but it doesn’t seem to be working,” Ena explained.

“Well, I guess you should’ve ask them first on how it works,” Almedha replied.

“…And that’s also why I’m not allowed around the toaster either,” Boyd finished.

“The things you do to your brothers,” Ike muttered. “I’m surprised they still want to be around you.”

“They don’t, but they’re stuck with me,” he shrugged, looking up as several shouts and growls were heard from out in the hallway. “Sounds like two women fighting.”

“I doubt it’s Ena,” Elincia spoke. “Or Sigrun.”

“Well, unless Ashnard sounds like a girl,” Boyd started, pausing for a moment. “That would actually be pretty funny if he did.”

“I’m sure it’s nothing…,” Tanith assured, although she was unable to hide the quiver in her voice.

There was a loud crack as the classroom door flew back from its hinges, taking out Tanith before another figure collided and crippled her desk.

“Ah…,” Almedha panted, brushing the blood from her lips as she picked herself up from the wreck of the desk. Her red eyes caught those of Petrine’s, and she watched as the woman came flying at her. Her fingers clung to the closest thing as a weapon and she stabbed the sharp edge of a pen into the soft flesh above Petrine’s collarbone.

“Sweet Cheese and Crackers!” Heather shouted, as she helped Tanith to her feet before pulling the woman away from the fight. “Is that Almedha?”

“Just stay in the back of the classroom!” Tanith ordered, as everyone backed away from the fight. She could feel her own heart thundering in her chest as she watched the two women brawl. Petrine was scary but as a Feral One…even worse. She jumped slightly as someone placed their hand on her shoulder and she glanced back to see Haar. Sighing, she gave a nervous laugh before falling against him.

“That looks bad,” Haar muttered, examining the large split of flesh on her right arm.

“I don’t even feel it,” she whispered.

“Damnit Petrine!” Almedha roared, stabbing her again in the chest and shoulder before the woman clawed at her face. She smacked the back of her hand across the woman’s cheek, watching as her head snapped to the side.

“********…” Petrine growled with a interrupting hiss. “You!”

“Best. Fight. Ever!” Boyd muttered, recording the battle on his I-phone.

“Dude, I don’t think this is the time to be recording!” Ike whispered, elbowing him in the side.

“Like I’m going to miss this!” Boyd replied.

Snarling, Petrine grabbed Almedha’s shoulders, and lifted her up before slamming her back down against the shattered, sharp edges of the desk. Only to repeat the tactic over and over again. Screaming, Almedha slammed her knee into Petrine’s stomach, before sinking her teeth into the woman’s neck as she brought her up. Not even noticing, Petrine slammed her back down, only to have a mild-size piece of flesh rip away.

“Nasty…,” Almedha mumbled, spitting the piece of flesh away before she wrestled her foot into the woman’s stomach and kicked her off. Getting up, she winced at the pain spiraling down her back before grabbing the textbook at the top of the pile nearby. Just as Petrine got to her feet, she swung the book and collided it right with her temple. Knocking the woman slightly unbalanced, before she hit her a second time. Although, she was more prepared this round and snatched the book from her hands. Tearing it in half, straight down the spine. “Uh…”

“Me…kill,” Petrine smirked, as she lashed out at her. Although Almedha managed to back step quickly enough to avoid the hit, Petrine grabbed a fistful of her shirt and tore the front off. Revealing the black underarmor beneath. “Kill…me.”

“No problem,” Almedha growled, back handing her once before smashing the back of her head against the wall. She gathered a piece of her collar and tore off a quarter part of the woman’s shirt.

“Hey, I think I saw a boob,” Boyd laughed, as he continued to record.

“Oh God…,” Ike muttered with a shake of his head.

“Does this happen normally?” Elincia asked, hiding behind him.

“Yeah…, wait, were you asking about Boyd or Petrine?”

¾ ¾ ¾ ¾

“Where did they go?!” Ena shouted, looking around the empty hallway. She could hear them but they were no where in sight. “You don’t think she got away, do you?”

“No, they probably got into one of the rooms though,” Ashnard replied, as the two started down one of the hallways. He looked up as Sigrun came from around the end corner. “Sigrun! How are the other classes doing?”

“They’re fine for now!” she answered, trotting over to them. “Where did she go?”

“I don’t know, but Almedha and Petrine were fighting it out,” Ena spoke, before looking around. “Wait. Do you hear that?”

“Hear what?” Sigrun asked, tensing slightly.

“Just silence,” Ashnard answered.

“Exactly,” Ena commented. “Where’s Rafiel?”

“Ooh,” Ashnard whistled, as he stroked his beard. “That’s not good. Well, we know she went by here, and he was suppose to be here…So, he’s probably dead.”

“Not cool,” Ena whispered. She was getting worried now. None of them were in sight…. “Come on, they have to be somewhere around here. We just have to look. Sigrun, see if you can’t start evacuating some of the other classes. Ashnard, you go and see if you can’t find Petrine and Almedha.”

“What are you going to do?” Sigrun asked.

“I have to see if I can’t find Rafiel,” Ena sighed, watching as the other two nodded before starting off in the different directions. She looked around before following after Ashnard. Wherever Petrine and Almedha were, Rafiel had to be nearby. Racing around the corner, the two of them froze as Petrine went flying out of one of the classrooms and slammed into the door of another. Her shirt was hanging off into shreds and blood was running down her skin. Almedha stepped out of the room, panting heavily in the same condition. A midriff, underarmor shirt revealed as she threw away what was left of her over shirt.

“Found ‘em,” Ashnard spoke, watching as the two women stared at one another before going at it again. “Now what?”

Ena watched as Petrine slammed Almedha into the nearby lockers before tossing her to the ground. “Go help her!” she answered, hitting his arm.

“Okay, that’s all you had to say,” he muttered, before racing into the battle. Delivering a blow to Petrine’s chest that knocked her a few yards away. He offered a hand to Almedha and helped her to her feet. “You did a good job.”

“It ain’t over yet,” Almedha replied, wiping the blood from her lips again. “Tag team?”

“You beat,” he nodded.

Watching as both Ashnard and Almedha launched themselves into the battle against Petrine, Ena carefully snuck closer before slipping into Tanith’s room. Looking around at the broken door, the crippled desk covered in blood droplets and the loose papers of the textbook. Everyone was huddled towards the back of the classroom. “Everyone okay?”
“Scared shitless, but we’re fine,” Heather answered numbly as she clung to Nailah.

“Best Youtube video ever,” Boyd spoke, as he closed his phone. “I got so many boob shots.

Never changes… Ena sighed mentally, before noticing that the Heron wasn’t in the class. Petrine, what did you do? she wondered before looking back out into the hallway. They needed the Galdr to ease her mind. And if they couldn’t find Rafiel, then they’d have to get Reyson or Leanne, and who knew where they were at this time. Stepping back out into the hallway, she watched as Ashnard hit the ground only to have Almedha land on top of them as Petrine dealt a deadly combo. But the woman was too focused in on the other two to even notice her.

“Come on Rafiel,” she whispered. “Where are you?” her ears perked slightly at the sound of something rustling nearby, and she moved towards what she thought was the source. Although she highly doubted it was coming from one of the damaged lockers. They were the old fashion ones, kind of narrow but went from floor to at least a foot or two from the ceiling. Now and days though, they had the half lockers that just barely had enough room for three books and a few binders.

The rustling noise continued and she pinpointed it to one of the middle lockers. Curious, or more annoyed at the sound, she released the small lock and pulled the door opened. She gave a silent yelp, and stepped to the side as a dark figure fell from the locker. Taking a few breaths to ease her heart, she quickly realized that it had been Rafiel.

“Oh God!” she mutter sharply, before kneeling down beside him. Several strands of his golden-white hair had been stained red. She placed a light hand on his shoulder before feeling it move slightly beneath the touch. “Rafiel? Are you okay?” she called softly at his following groan.

He got slowly, and sat back as blood fell from his lips. “Ugh…what happened?”

“I don’t know, I was hoping you would know,” she replied, carefully trying to see if she could spot any wounds of the sort. None came to sight aside from a few bruises around his temples and jaw line.

He shook his head before feeling at the sharp pain at the back of his head. Blood dressing his fingertips as he touched the gash along the back of his skull. “I can’t remember.”

She sighed and looked back at the fight. “Damn…I don’t think you’re in any condition to-”

“She hit the back of my head, not my throat,” he interrupted, blinking several times as his focus wavering slightly. “Just give me a few seconds to recuperate.”
She nodded and looked back at the fight. Watching as Almedha hit the ground once more, only to now have Ashnard land on top of her. “I can buy a few minutes.” she spoke before getting up. Rushing into the battle, she put herself between Petrine and the other two.

“Ena…” Petrine hissed, even her voice sounding twisted.

“Petrine,” Ena nodded, watching as the woman stepped forward. She took a deep breath and focused her energy into her hands. Petrine gave a growl and lunged at her. Touching her knuckles together, the energy burst through her body and she felt herself become engulfed in a blinding, pink light. Emerging in Dragon form.

“Oh man, a Dragon! Even better!” Boyd commented as he videotaped from the doorway.

“Boyd!” Tanith called.

Roaring, Ena swung her tail and smashed Petrine into the wall of lockers. Managing to trap the woman in place there. Her wings began to beat as they seemed to follow in with her heart, which thundered even harder against her chest.

“Can you keep her still?” Almedha called, getting to her weak legs using Ashnard’s support.

Yeah, just take this time to gather yourselves. You’ve fought long enough Ena thought.

“Alright,” Almedha nodded, hearing every word.

“What did she say?” Ashnard asked.

“Rest.”

Ena growled as Petrine struggled against her tail. Claws tearing across her scales, causing several of them to pop off and reveal the tender flesh underneath, which Petrine clearly took advantage of. Sinking each sharp nail into one of the tender spots, causing blood to burst from the small wound and seep out. Come on! Hurry up! she mentally urged, before hearing the chorus of the Galdr begin. She felt relaxed once more and watching as Petrine’s motions began to slow down and her respiration ease slightly. Her hands remained still for a moment, before falling motionless at her side. She watched as her black eyes closed and she fell back against the lockers. The veins receding from her neck and face. It’s working!

“It’s working,” Almedha repeated.

“Can I still hit her with the shovel?” Ashnard asked.

¾ ¾ ¾ ¾

Ena sighed and gladly took the first seat available to her. Holding an ice pack to the left side of her face, where Petrine had nailed her earlier. She watched as paramedics rushed here and there, while several police officers milled around with one another.

“Good thing this all got over when it did,” she looked up as Almedha walked over. The woman was practically dressed in bruises and wounds. Her underarmor shirt was ripped and revealed the midnight, lace bra she wore beneath that. Her hair was now pulled back to prevent irritating her wounds.

“Tell me about it,” Ena nodded, watching as the woman took the seat next to her. Wincing as she noticed the cuts and pieces of wood embedded in her badly-bruised back. Her arms were torn up and a slight stretch in the skin hinted at a broken bone. “You should probably get yourself checked out.”

“I’ll be fine,” Almedha replied, waving it off. “You just worry about yourself and Petrine.”

“Where’s Ashnard?” Ena asked.

Almedha shrugged lightly, only regretting the movement afterwards. “He’s talking to a few of the officers about what happened. They said charges wouldn’t be filed, considering she was illegally poisoned. But they are going to investigate the board members who came by today to see which of them did it.”

“I hope they get slammed with everything,” Ena muttered.

“Hell, we might be able to pull off four attempted murders and aggravated assault on them,” Almedha chuckled. “It’s perfectly legal. I have a friend whose ‘boyfriend’ runs a law firm, I’ll see if she can get some help.”

“Let’s just worry about Petrine and the others for now,” Ena sighed, watching as several of the EMT workers were checking on Tanith and Rafiel. Tanith suffered a pretty nasty gash, which they said might require some stitching, and Rafiel managed to avoid a nasty concussion and came out with a bad gash on his head.

“Well, they said everything’s clear,” Ashnard announced as he walked over to the two women and took the third seat. “And that the investigation will start as soon as they clear up the mess and get everyone checked out.”

“Which includes you two,” Ena added.

“We’re fine,” Almedha assured.

Ena looked over the two before getting up. “These people are bleeding over here and need immediate medical attention!” she called out, watching as several paramedics rushed over.

“I hate you,” Almedha laughed as the two got up.

¾ ¾ ¾ ¾

“So tell me again what happened?” Petrine asked, from her hospital bed.

Ena sighed and shook her head with a light smile. “You went berserk after drinking some bad coffee and went around beating the s**t out of people. You tossed Ashnard around like he was a rag doll and Almedha like she was a puppet. Not to mention you managed to pull Tanith into the mix, and shove Rafiel into a locker after you knocked him out.”

“I’m so horrible,” Petrine laughed.

“You Heron-beater,” Ena smiled, sitting at her bedside. “One good thing to come from this though.”

“And what’s that, aside from a few days off from work?” Petrine asked.

“You’re the number one hit on Youtube.”
