VanBard's Work
Poetry written by VanBard
Nineteenth poem
Memories

She walks past me
In a smokey old bar
I offer her a drink
And a ride in my car.

She takes my hand
And we dance for a while
Only...I'm not paying attention
Because I'm lost in her smile.

She comes back to my place
And tells me her name.
I hold her close
Exploring her frame.

And when I wake up in the morning
And she isn't there
The only thing that tells me she was at all
Is the scent of her hair.
