In Tally's world, besides the Littlies, Uglies, Pretties, Specials, and Extras, there was another group of people. They were called the Nobodies.

The Nobodies were the lowest of them all. They never went through the operation, and their face rank was below zero. The Nobodies were totally nothing, that they were considered non existent. Here, it begins with 15-year-old Karin. She is an Ugly, but not an ordinary one. Since nobody could see the nobodies, she could. From hearing that in New Pretty Town, it was a utopia, and you would be perfect. Way beyond Perfect.

Karin wanted to get a glimpse of New Pretty Town, but she knew she wouldn't get past anyone looking how she is. So then, she wore the mask of a tengu*. It worked out perfectly, scaring all the Pretties away. Karin then saw a huge mansion, and barged in to see what was going on in there. It was a huge party, with so many people. "Nice mask," a pretty said.
"Um, thanks," said Karin.
After gazing at the tengu mask for a long time, the pretty then crashed into the nose of the Tengu mask and knocked it off. After everyone saw the mask, they all went in a while goose chase after Karin. The chase went on all the way to the roof of the mansion, and Karin was about to fall off. The pretties cornered her, and as Karin slowly backed away, she felt unbalanced. Karin fell off of the roof, and onto a bush. "Ow!" said a girl.
"Oh. I'm sorry," said Karin
"It's okay. What's your name?" said the girl
"I'm Karin," Karin answered.
"I'm Shika. I'm very surprised that I'm visible," she said.
"Why?" Said Karin.
"Well, I'm a nobody. Nobodies are invisible to everyone, and we're considered non-existent. We never went through the operation, and had a face rank of below zero. We intentionally did that.
"But wouldn't you want all those good things?" asked Karin
"No. It's because when you are a pretty, they completely change you. They change who you are, your physical look, and everything. It's impossible to be yourself as a pretty. Would you want that?" said Shika.
"Hell no! I didn't know being a pretty would be this bad!" said Karin
"Good." said Shika.







*tengu = A long-nosed goblin in Japanese mythology
