I am pushed down to the shed where the servants sleep. When I get down there I realize the time. It is still night and I will have to skip dinner just because I was sent to my room early. Tonight the vampire Queen and the knights were going to go to council and speak with them. The other vampires would probably go to blood clubs or pick up “dinner” on the way there. Servants were forced to go with, except those that had been put away for the night. Most servants were vampires that had been born into servitude, but all except me had been turned into vampires.
I move towards the basement window and see all the vampires moving towards the night. They were partying, and singing and the leader and the Queen walk to the carriage, that looks like it would be from the times of noncar existence. The servants follow there assigned masters for the night. The leader looked at me, I swiftly looked away. Within 5 minutes I was grabbed by the arm and was being pulled out of the basement. It was the leader and as we were going up the stairs he put something up to my nose and I was knocked out. As far an I knew it, I thought I was going to be killed.


When I woke up I was in the carriage and we were moving pretty fast. I look around and I am lying on my side, on the leader’s lap. He was looking down at me and for the first time I see how young he actually looked. He noticed me looking at him. “Not even you can stay at the house. You my dear might try to run away and we can’t have that.” He said finally and then he looked up at the Queen who had stopped talking to him long enough to say his words to me.
She looked at me, too, as I lay there he doesn’t tell me to get up or pushes me off his lap. I wonder if he knows that I want to never leave this sight. The sight of looking at him. But soon we are at this very furnished castle, which seems to climb and never end. He tells the Door opens, and me to get up and all the men get out as though to check and make sure that nothing is going to kill them and the queen. The leader opens the doors, helps the Queen out, and waits for me to get out.
I get out and I look at the huge piece of building. I walk behind the men that walk in a circle around the Queen. I look at the grounds, which have several dogs surrounding the grounds. A group of smoking vampires standing outside the doors of the huge castle, and wait for the group of men vampires escorting the Queen. The dogs scoot out of the way feeling threatened by the energy of the vampires.
We are out of the dark and are inside a dim light room. “You stay here and you leave or come when I call you, or if anybody else calls upon you.” The leader said as he stopped me in the Hallway. I waited there, and as I did several vampires and demonic souls passed me. As they do they stare at me as though they know that I am not a vampire. I wait and watch several men enter the room and a Queen for each Klan enters (always in the middle).

The meeting goes on forever and several times demonic souls have run in and out of the room. Some of the Klan’s left already and I know that the sun will be coming up soon. I am still waiting for any sign that means that we will be leaving. One time I even saw a couple of vampires from our Klan go outside and take a smoke because the Owner of the castle prohibited smoking during meetings, so they decided to go outside. Never had I spotted the leader leave for his smoke or if he did I never saw him come in.
By now I was looking forward to leaving because anytime a man would pass outside he would look at me and sniff as though they could smell the human in me. By 4:00 in the morning I thought that someone was calling me. “Child come in here now!!!!” demanded the leader. I walked in the room that the door had been opened. “Sit here now.” He yelled. I sat where he had instructed. They talked in their natural language and I knew that they were talking about me. They kept looking at me as though I were a disease.
I could understand bits and pieces. “She…but she’s is…we could change that…No sir it is what we were looking for…OK” and at this they looked at me, I looked blank. They then spoke in English.
“If you can change her in a month, then she can be yours, but if she stays mortal, then you will be stripped of her and she will be transferred over here.” I looked up at this, the leader looked at the fat vampire that sat in the Judges seat. He was the headcheese and had always been.
“How do you expect me to do this task when the prophet said that this could be the major problem?” The leader looked like stone and furious to be asked such a request.
“You will do this or you will be banished just like your mother and father. You will do as you are told” He paused then looked at the queen. “Keep your warriors in line. And you will stay queen till your child will take over.”
The Queen looked at her son and the looked at each other. She was resistant but did nothing but turn to her leader “You will do as he says and if you give me problems I will kill you myself!!!” she said and then turned to the fat man.
He dismissed them and I was told to stay in the front of the circle, with the leader. What did they mean I would leave the house of the Klan if I was not changed in a month? I was already confused and now I have to stay with the leader.
Once we got to the carriage he pulled me aside. “When we get home, you will go to my room, you will not ask any questions, you will do as I say.” And with this he pushed me into the carriage and I sat on his right side. The whole ride back was quiet. No one spoke, whispered, and everyone was on the edge, even the queen was tense. I looked out the window and I Knew that everyone looked at me.

When I got up to the leader’s room, he hadn’t made it up there yet. I thought I was lucky, because he really was mad earlier. I was looking around the room when he walked in. “What are you doing?” I turned around so fast that I tripped. “Oww” I said. He smirked at that. I stood up and gave him a stare. Then he walked over and straitened up the vases that were on the shelf.
