There is a song stuck in my head as I write this... "The Sun" by They Might Be Giants (brilliant name, that) plays 'round and 'round on a tireless tape loop.
In Denmark they call songs stuck in your head "ear worms". In their cool awesome Danish of course, so it sounds more slick but.... ah well.
School is near the end. Oh, pardon, I mean of course, "THE END IS NIGH!". About as freaky weird as that too, because I'm about to be set loose on this poor defenseless planet where I will be automatically drawn towards cities and back up sewers, reverse street signs and steal everyone's left shoe. Or just try to do some good around the community and then head off for the funky fresh taste of college. AGH!
But Jack London said something nice that's been sorta driving me lately. (For all that that London fellow was a drunk that spent the majority of his time courting the barstool, he could approach eloquence every now and then...) He said,
"I would rather be ashes than dust. I would rather that my spark burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot. I should rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. The function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time."
Isn't that nice?
On another note, if you find that you have a moment and wish to pick up an absolutely excellent book I advise trying My Name is Asher Lev by Chaim Potok. It gives some absolutely fascinating insight on what it is to be a prodigy, a genius, and most importantly an artist. The Legion of the Undead also wishes you to try it.
By the by, if you want to be friends and don't mind carrying on the occasional conversation, please don't hesitate to ask.
