[Trip to Merlin’s] -Chapter four-
Ilexisi` made it back to the Portal entrance, and grabbed a hold of the rope. She untied the knot that was secured around the lamp post and wrapped it around her fingers for a tight hold. She yanked on it, hoping the gang found that it was reassuring. Her hair flicked in her face, as her body went through the portal surface. To her surprise, the gang was seated on crates-looking bored and untroubled. Ha, their lack of fun. She smiled, a bit amused, until Lauren shot up from the crate and glared at her.
“What the hell, took you so long?!” She hissed through clenched teeth and Chante` and Vincent got up as well, to help Lauren relax. Vincent put a hand on her should and looked at Ilexisi` with a bit of a smirk on his lips. But behind the smirk was the same question, ‘What the hell took you so long?’. Ilexisi` sighed and walked up to them, to show them the map. Chante` however, was looking at the walls of the building, scrutinizing the setting. The familiarity was bugging her, beyond anything else.
“Is the map of the place that you, went to?” Lauren asked and Ilexisi` nodded. Lauren didn’t hesitate to snatch the rolled up paper from Ilexisi`s hands and unroll it quickly. She scanned the paper with her crimson eye that was actually visible, and pointed at some of the places with her index finger, curiously.
“Why are there three sections?” She asked and Ilexisi` shrugged but then pointed at the third entryway.
“There’s a Wizards home just beyond this corridor. It’s called Merlin. I’m not sure if it’s safe or not, but Wizards explain a lot.” Ilexisi` explained and Vincent grabbed the map from both of them.
“You believe he has answers to why a portal from that place came to here?” Vincent asked and Ilexisi` nodded. Chante` stopped scanning the room and walked up to the three of them with the map. She tilted her head a bit to take a close look at the Wizards house destination.
“May I?” Chante` smiled softly at Vincent and he nodded, handing her the map. She looked closely at the dark lines that squared around the Wizards house and saw jagged lines that could take form of water.
“I think Merlin has a moat surrounding his place.. We should take precaution. By the way, what’s the name of the place?” Chante` asked and Ilexisi` smiled.
“ Traverse Town .” She responded and Chante` just nodded.
“Hmm, shouldn’t we have someone stay here with the rope? It’s not safe to just leave it tied up to something, not knowing if it will untie itself.” Chante` questioned and Lauren looked at Vincent with a ‘please stay here’ expression. Vincent kissed her forehead and nodded. L.C.I was on the job!
“Alright, Ilexisi` you lead the way.” Lauren exclaimed and she saluted with a silly smile on her lips. The girls laughed and Vincent just smiled, just as usual. Ilexisi` kept the rope wrapped in her fingers, and walked through the portal, used to the feel of it, being tingly around her body and all. Lauren and Chante` looked at each other with knowing glances, and then stepped in together. The steps and alley way came into view as they all walked into the Traverse Town square. Ilexisi` tied the rope around the same lamp post and beckoned her friends to follow her to the Item's shop area. The Restaurant with the Candles and tables came into sight and Lauren and Chante` were extremely curious. Lauren looked at the map in her hands and flipped it so it faced where they were going.
"We should round a corner, passed the Jewelry store. There will be a door of some sort that says 'District Three'." Lauren explained and Ilexisi` turned her self to face a Jewelry shop about 50 feet away. Chante` walked up ahead and stared at the building's in awe. She liked the feel of the place around her, it's mystery amongst all the buildings and streets. Ilexisi` continued her way down the road until the Jewelry shop was right in front of her. She then looked at Lauren with excitement.
"Ok! Now what corner are we rounding?" Ilexisi` asked and Lauren averted her eyes to the left. A alley way that went back and forth into jagged lines, lead to a sliding door with a carving of the words 'Third District.' Ilexisi` giggled nervously, Chante` put a clenched fist underneath her chin thoughtfully, and Lauren just walked at a fast pace down the dark jagged road to the sliding door.The other two girls jogged after her to keep up. Lauren the froze, and bared her fangs.Chante` and Ilexisi` froze as well, taken a back by Lauren's sudden alert.
"Lauren, what's the matter?" Chante` asked, softly and Lauren just looked around with her eyes in slits. There was an evil presense around and she could sense it easily. It caused shivers down her spinal cord. It has a dark aura. Lauren thought bitterly and stood in front of the District Three sliding door. She placed her hands on it and slid it open.
"I don't know what I am feeling you guys. But I know for a fact that it is not good." Lauren sighed and walked through the third district door. The girls followed behind. The third District was slightly different, and had balcanys just about everywhere, as well as 3 doors ahead. One door had a fire sign emblemmed on the front of it. Lauren stared at it and looked at the map in her hands. According to the map, the Merlin building was beyond it, so they had to use that door.
"Uhh, the door with the flame picture." Lauren nodded towards it and Ilexisi` sprinted to it, in excitement. She put her hand out to reach for a knob of some sort but saw none. She scratched her head, and pushed at the door. It didn't budge. She then, irritated, kicked the door and a fire ball came blasting out at high speed, knocking her to the floor. Chante` gasped and helped dazed Ilexisi` to her feet. Lauren growled, and walked up to the door.
"You've got to be fu-," Chante` made an over exaggerating shushing sound and Lauren caught her words.," Freekin kidding me." Lauren finished and put a hand on the fire symbol on the door. This Wizard must be pretty good, to somehow infuse a fire element into the door. Lauren looked at the door carefully and clenched her fingers into a tight fist. Electricity began to form around her fingers into a powered ball and she stretched her arm back. I wonder if I can give a door a righthook. She punched with Vampire agility, which was merely a blur of speed and her fist smashed right through the door. She pulled her fist out, and shook it in the air, the impact pretty painful.
"That otta- do the trick!" Lauren smiled, and Chante` and Ilexisi` laughed quietly to themselves. But then the floor began to vibrate and all three of them stared in suprise as a black shadow formed from beneath the door and about ten black creatures morphed from the floor. Their gold beady eyes staring at the girls, with no expression.
"What the hell are those!?" Ilexisi` wailed, swinging her arms in the air in frustration. Lauren stood in front of the creatures and set off electrical currents on them. Some of them dispersed but others dissapeared into the floor as shadows and morphed up again. Chante` took out her hand gun and began to shoot at the creatures, and Ilexisi` sent alchemy rays at them. The creatures were weaker than expected and vanished from the girl's strikes.Chante` put her handgun back in her leg holster and kneeled down to inspect the ground. There were no traces of the creatures they just fought, and that was highly unusual.
"Laur, um knowing your experience and all.....do you know what the heck those were?" Ilexisi` asked, crossing her arms over her chest and tilting her head. Ilexisi` bit her bottom lip. Chante` also crossed her arms and waited for an answer. There was silence.
"Uh, Laur?" Ilexisi` questioned and Lauren just sighed. She never saw such creatures in her life. They were different, and shared only one quality she can percieve. They were like Chaos, with their gold mystified eyes, and the shadows that wrapped around their tiny squirmy bodies. But even when she thought that, they still were completely different. She even noticed that it was the reason why she felt strange before walking up to the Third District entryway.
"Honestly, I don't know what they were. But I sensed them." Lauren replied, walking up to the fire emblemmed door with the hole in it and crawling through it. She noticed a door knob on the other side of the door, and pulled it open for the others to follow her.
"Hey, Chante` was right." Ilexisi` smirked and pointed out the dark waters in front of them. There was steps floating on the water, in a perfect line to a little island. A cottage was on that tiny island, which was merely thirty five feet across and twenty feet off the ground.
Ilexisi` stared at the floating Stone steps in the water, and the water itself. The water was black, or it just looked black because of the ceiling and the lack of light in the circular room. Chante` stepped beside her and stared at the mossy stones. She then put a foot on the top of the first stone in front of her. It swayed a bit from the ripples of the water. Lauren looked at Chante` with a grimace across her face, and her arms crossed over her chest.
“Don’t tell me your going first.” She muttered and Chante` looked over her shoulder to look at the vampire behind her.
“Lauren, I can swim if I fall into the water, and I also have good balance. I’ll be fine.” Chante` explained and Lauren sighed and nodded. Ilexisi` and Lauren stood back and watched as their white haired friend hopped onto the first stone.
Chante` put her arms out at her sides and tried balancing the first stone from swaying. It stopped swaying, and once she was comfortable that the stone wouldn’t give out on her she hopped onto the next one.
“Lauren, Ilexisi`! It’s easier than it looks. Come on.” Chante` exclaimed and Lauren stepped in front of Ilexisi` and hopped onto the first stone. Chante` hopped onto the third stone, and Lauren hopped onto the second, once the first was done swaying. Then Ilexisi` hopped onto the first stone, just behind the two other girls ahead of her. All three of them continued to hop onto each stone until they made it to the fifteenth one, which ended at the little Wizard Cottage, onto the tiny island in the center of the circular dark room.
The three girls made it to the island with ease, and walked over to the Cottage. Chante` stomped her foot in frustration and Lauren raised an eyebrow. Ilexisi` just giggled softly to herself.
“Do you see the entrance at all? Because I don’t!” Chante` blurted, which was a bit off character. She wasn’t easily frustrated like this, and Ilexisi` placed a hand on her shoulder. She gave one of her well known goofy grins.
“Are you okay?” Ilexisi` asked, sympathetically and Chante` shook her head, no.
“I really don’t like Dark confine rooms like this. It’s too eerie for me. I really just want to get inside.” Chante` explained and Lauren nodded, walking around the Cottage to search for an entrance. There wasn’t a door but there was a pink sheet torn at the bottom, attached to the wall, but swaying a bit to show that there was another side to it.
“I think I found the entrance.” Lauren whispered, keeping in mind that sheets are thin and don’t keep off sound. Ilexisi` pumped her fist in the air, excited, and Chante` just walked slowly over to Lauren. Now, there was another question running through the girls minds. Is the Wizard nice? They couldn’t be too sure, and Lauren lifted up the flap of the entrance and bent down to walk through. It was her turn to go first. She silently walked through the entrance, and walked right into a Cauldron. Something was bubbling inside it, but she didn’t stop to take a look. Instead she just walked around it and took in the room in one glance. No one was in the room, just brooms against the wall, large books piled on shelves and tables, and maps spread out on seats, with candle sticks lit. The room was rather quiet, but she noticed a staircase leading up to a tiny attic perhaps? Or a tiny bedroom? It didn’t really matter, except that it must be tiny, since on the outside of the cottage it didn’t look that big.
"Hello? Anyone here?" Lauren asked out loud, now. But there was silence like before and she cleared her throat to say it louder. Then she held her breath and decided, it wouldn't be best to piss off a Wizard she hadn't even met yet. Instead, she walked quietly over to one of the tables and stared a map in front of her. It was an entirely new location, she's never seen in her life. Disney Castle. Her eyes scanned the outer edge of the map, and the coloured boxes indicating what was what. Then came a loud 'Thump!'. Lauren spun around to see a Wizard with blue robes and a long pointy hat. He had a white beard and hair and glasses, and was smiling politely.
"Oh, How do you do? Sorry about the mess in this place...I wasn't expecting any company!" He pipped and Lauren nervously smiled. She didn't sense him at all which she did find rather odd.
