Chappie Two!!!!
Chapter 2- The Experiment
Once Sophie had pushed open the door, I was almost flung from where I was standing by the force of all the people inside the cramped room screaming, “Happy Birthday!!” What?! It’s not even close to by birthday! Man, this is getting creepier by the second! I was just about to think that I had gone insane when all of the finely dressed people came up and encircled me, some poked at me, like they were making sure I was real. I felt like some sort of turkey, ready to be eaten by the guests at a wedding… “Hey, Soph, who is your friend?” “Where did she come from?” “She looks weird!” That last comment I had seen the person who had said it. He looked like he was about fifteen, which was just one year older than I was… a teenager. He also had transparent skin, just like Sophie, and golden hear with black eyes... Now that I think of it… I think that they all have transparent skin! And what is up with their eyes?! They are all black! The teenager’s face was quite kind considering that he just insulted me. I turned on him, but was stopped mid-sentence by Sophie. “Hey! That wasn’t very nice to say to the guest of honor! So you better shut your cake-hole before I shut it for you!” Her eyes were filled with cold fury, along with her tone. “What, is it her birthday? Or were we just supposed to say that just so we won’t to hyper and make the party go on until the next changing shades?” His words were overflowing with sarcasm. Anger seemed to have surged through Sophie’s body like whiplash after a hard blow. “FYI, Allen, it is her birthday today and she has a name, you know! Her name is Twilla! So you better be nice or I’ll just have to take you out back and kick your little sorry butt again, hmm? How about that?!” She got into his face while she defended me. “Sophie! You can stop now! I really don’t care anymore. I think that you made your point. And anyway, I guess that he is speaking the truth when he says that I look weird… Compared to all of you, I must look like an extraterrestrial. Really, it’s okay!” I said pleading with Sophie. “If you say so, Twi. It is your birthday, after all… OK, I will stop for today! But if he insults you again… I won’t hold back! I’ll get him one hundred times fold than what I would have done to him today!” She had hatred in her tone, like she really wanted to kill him. That’s when I remembered her saying: “You know you like him!” Allen Bloodnest… so that’s who he is. You must be kidding! Do you really think that I would like him?! That is some twisted mind you have, Sophie… Then the crowd around me began to thin out. They all had moved to the different rooms within the mansion. I was then left with maybe five people, including Sophie and Allen. “Oh, my! I don’t think that I have formally introduced you to the others! Oh, well we aren’t going to call them all back in here just to introduce you to everyone. Oh, hey! Audrey, Nick, May Lee, over here!!” Sophie yelled to random people who were still in the room. Two girls and a boy then came over to where the three of us were standing. To be completely honest, I was a little freaked out that Allen was still with me. “Ok- here are some people that you don’t know… Well you already know Nick Sythe, I guess, being relatives and all…” I interrupted her. “Say what!? I have relatives!? You must be kidding me! I’ve never met this guy in my life!!” I gestured to the guy who I guessed was Nick. “Wow… that was a shocker.” I heard Allen say under his breath. “Oh, shut up, Allen! Ok- yes you guys are relatives. Kinda creepy right?!” “Define creepy…” “What ever, I don’t want to get into too much detail until you have gotten to meet Audrey and May Lee Crimosite. They are twins that live at the temple.” The two identical girls nodded. They were wearing the same orange dress and the same silk slippers. “They are quite wealthy, but unfortunately, they are mute. They can’t talk, so they use their hands talk. Show her you guys!” Then the girls made random shapes with their hands: a rabbit, a bird, but most amazingly, they then made a wolf with both of their hands combined. I applauded quietly and they bowed. “You guys are amazing!” I praised them. Audrey and May Lee grinned like a snake that has an evil scheme. That kinda freaked me out. I looked at Sophie. “So did you really invite all these people, just to see me?” “Well, it is your birthday after all. I wouldn’t even think of not inviting at least twenty or thirty people…!” every tone in her voice sounded of innocence. “Listen, I don’t even know how I got here! Let alone where I am, what I am doing here or why I’m here. But I do know one thing for certain: It is not my birthday! My birthday is no where near this date… even though I don’t really know what day it is anyway… but I’m pretty sure it isn’t. I just had my last birthday a couple of weeks ago!” Sophie sighed. “Come with me, Twilla. There is something you should know. Even though I really don’t want to tell, I guess that I would have to sometime. Better late than never…” She led me up the stairs to the right of the room, then through a small hallway, silently, and then we finally came to a wooden door. It was not bolted to the wall; it just looked like a piece of perfectly fitting wood leaned up against the wall. But there was a piece of paper that was stuck to the middle of the wood with strange symbols on it, and there were strange designs all around them. Sophie folded her hands, keeping her two index fingers extended. “Con le se ton nagi nata o ten san!” She chanted over and over again. Suddenly, Sophie’s eyes changed colors. They were now an other-worldly color of bright red. Light illuminated from her sockets and was sucked into the paper. I stood there, open mouthed and heart racing. Oh man, oh man!! Please don’t die! What ever you do, just don’t die and leave me in this twisted place!! I knew that that was an extremely selfish thing for me to think, but right then my brain was in pieces that were spread across the universe- never to be found for at least ten seconds after this was over. Then, her eyes had turned back to their normal blackish color. Oh, thank the heavens she’s alive!! She took a deep breath and smiled at me, then turned her attention back to the door. The paper had changed from white to violet. The color was now streaming from the paper to the strange designs, illuminating them with a bluish tone. Then everything went dark for a second. “GET DOWN!!” Sophie ran from the door, grabbing my hand and making me run with her. Light flooded my senses and I tripped on an imaginary object and fell to the floor. The light just got brighter and brighter until I thought that my eyes were going to burn out of their sockets. I closed my eyes tightly, trying to keep the light out. Then the noise came. I had heard that screeching sound the first time that I had come to this twisted, messed up place… Oh what good memories…! I thought to myself sarcastically as the light and the noise subsided. I opened my eyes and what I saw was astonishing. Where the wall and the wooden door was, there was an enormous staircase, with red velvet lining and gold railing. “Holy cow! How did this thing get here?! Wasn’t there a wall there?!” My brain was everywhere all at the same time. I was wondering if I had, somehow, gone completely insane… But then, in all of my dismay, red blurred my vision. It was like all I saw was blood and more blood. My mouth started watering. I realized that I hadn’t fed for at least three days now. Oh, no… My eyes hungrily searched Sophie’s neck for any sign of a vein of some sort- some source of blood. NO!! Stop it, Twilla!! Not her, not now! When I get out of this twisted world, then I will. Just not now!! Tremors started to run up and down my spine. I wouldn’t be able to control my thirst for long. In desperate attempt to try to keep Sophie alive, I raced up the mysterious stairwell. I could hear Sophie pleading with me, “No Twilla! You aren’t supposed to go up there yet! It isn’t safe!!” I ignored her pleas and kept running. This is for your own good, Sophie! I don’t want to kill you! You have to believe me and not come up after me!! On and on I ran, up the red velvet stairs. I looked back to make sure that Sophie wasn’t following me, but she had vanished. I ran on, into the dark shadows. It seemed as thought the darkness had swallowed me when I reached the top of the stairs. I felt around to find that I was in, what seemed to me, a room overflowing with computers and other expensive equipment. Then there was an odd red light illuminating from a glass pillar filled with liquid. My eyes were attracted to the odd light that came out of the darkness. In the liquid, there was a man. A man with blood! There were chords and suction cups stuck all over his body. He didn’t look as though he was breathing, but bubbles were suspended in the liquid here and there. There was a folder titled: ‘The Experiment.’ I opened the folder and inside was a notebook, a pencil, and an information sheet. I took out the information sheet and read it. There was random number after random number, but down the page a ways, there was some information that was, somewhat, useful to me:
Experiment No. 103587646
Name: Rafe Imochi Birth Place: Mazora Forest Founder: Calvin Fae Morton Last tested: Day of Souls, 57th Light Next scheduled testing: 59th gloom
My brain had taken enough when I came to this twisted place, but this was just too much! I wonder if Sophie knows about this… well duh. She said herself that it was dangerous so she must have gone in here before. I was just blankly staring at the sheet, my mind racing. There was a cracking noise. I whirled around to find the pillar with the man inside was cracked, and the crack was growing! Oh, s**t! The crack started to leak and the man’s eyes opened. His eyes were a bright greenish color and were so bright; everything seemed to be just shadows. They were hypnotizing. I hadn’t noticed that the crack had grown to almost twice its original size. The next moments were extremely sudden and confusing. First, there was a crashing sound, and a rush of cold liquid hit me full force. I gasped and screamed and the liquid gushed into my mouth, strangling me. I was flung into the wall behind me, making me lose my grip on the folder. There was a flash that looked as though a green lightning bolts were streaming from ‘the Experiment’s’ eyes. It bolted forward, towards me. We came face-to-face with one another, and his eyes closed. We were still submersed in liquid when he fell to the floor, as though gravity had become ten times stronger in the few seconds we were face-to-face. All the liquid disappeared into nothingness and we were left soaked and dripping. ‘The Experiment’ was on the floor, on his knees and bent over so his hair covered his face. I was leaning against the wall, facing him, with all the equipment in ruins all around us. All of his veins were popping out of his pale skin. He was breathing hard, like he hadn’t taken a single breath in years. I could see the blood flowing underneath his skin. His head was still bent down, so I still couldn’t see his face, but if I had, I might have changed my mind before it was too late… I could feel the venom flowing freely in my mouth. My throat closed up and my stomach did flips waiting for the wonderful, relieving sensation. I slowly moved in for the kill. I kneeled down in front of him and opened my mouth, exposing my razor sharp fangs. My cold hands fastened around his neck, pressing with one finger down the largest vein, making it pop out even more. I slowly clamped down on his neck with my fangs, enjoying every moment, feeling his hot blood surged through my own venom-filled veins. His cry of pain and terror rang out throughout the mansion. He shivered and went limp. I let him go and licked my lips clean of his blood. I threw him to the ground, completely satisfied with myself. That is when I saw his face for the first time. He had sage green cat-like eyes and black hair. He had red marks that started from the bottom of his eyes to his lower jaw. He looked about fifteen- the same age as Allen. He used to look human… Now he just looked dead. I gasped when I noticed that the red markings were the markings of the eternal. He was immortal! Aw, dang it! It was well known that it was against the mysterious rules that popped into your brain once you have changed, to change an immortal- for it would cause great catastrophe. Now I have to think of a way to clean up this mess that I have made. This should be interesting…! I thought to myself in complete dismay. Well, I could just kill him now- it would be quick and easy, while he is still unconscious. I looked at his face, wiping a discarded strand of hair away from his perfect features. No… that would be cruel. Maybe… just maybe… I could train him. He won’t remember being changed or anything that had happened to him before. He won’t know that he is immortal… Na, that would be to creepy. Maybe I could just act like this never happened and just leave him here… I pondered that thought for a second. Well the first part is ok- maybe I could just make an excuse for him being here… Cousin from out of town…? No. Found on the street…? Nope. How about a tag- along from the woods? Yea… that would be believable… It’s just a matter of making you look different. You don’t want Sophie, I mean Serenity finding out that you were changed, hu? He had normal clothes on –which were surprisingly dry- and looked almost vaguely normal. I opened his eyelids he started to look around. “Who the heck are you?” he asked me rudely. “It is common courtesy to give your own name before you ask for someone else’s.” I stated, even though I already knew his name. “I asked you first!” he yelled at me, getting into my face. “Yes you did. So in spite of your bad manners, I will be the mature one and give you my name. My name is Twilla Sythe. I am a vampire, just like you.” I informed him. “Interesting… Wait…! What…!? Did you just say I was a vampire?! This is so not happening!” he started to pace the room wildly while I was still sitting, my eyes following him like a cat. “Yes, I did. So I will be the first to say, ‘Congratulations!’ You are now a legendary being!” My tone was overflowing with sarcasm and I shook my hands. “Oh, shut up! This is your fault! I don’t even know how I got in this messed up place! And the first thing I see is YOU! You are the one who did this to me! You disgust me!” He turned around so he couldn’t see me. Yes!! He doesn’t remember that he is an immortal! This might not turn out as badly as I thought…! “Oh, give me a break, Rave! You were the one who was being experimented on! I was doing you a favor, you ungrateful son of a-” He interrupted me, “How the heck do you know my name?! This is so very twisted…” he sat down in front of me, giving up on pacing for now. “It was on your information sheet. It also had where you were from and when they were scheduling your next test…” “Ok, this is getting extremely creepy. So I guess that I will have trust you on what ever you are going to do… but trust me I really don’t want to.” He pouted. “Ok- here’s the plan-” I whispered the plan in his ear and he nodded. We stood up nodded to one another. Then we walked down the stairs, and into the unknown.
