I'll be truthful, I am stupid and I am naive. There's no question about it. All my entire life, I've always thought that the government works for the people and not the other way around. Time and time again, I've been proved wrong and that the people government are merely taking care of their 'rice bowl' rather than to fight for equality and what's best for the country and it's people.
I'm upset. I really am. But this is how the story goes and there's no way that I can change it. I can't start a revolution nor demand that the government start taking better care of its people. I am a nobody.
In my honest/ unbias opinion, Malaysia is worst off now than in the 1950's. Perhaps the British should come back and rule us. Since it appears that we are incapable of doing that ourselves. The top people in Malaysia truly cares for nothing except their own "pocket". They becomes ministers for over 20 years and the accounts seems to get fatter and fatter the less they do for us. We have ministers that is over 70 years old and still refuses to step down, does nothing or little to help its own people.
And here I am, hoping and wishing that someone, anyone would finally step up and did what Tunku Abdul Rahman as the Father of Malaysia did. He was truly a man worthy of all my respect! The one man I would truly and sincerely go on my knees and prostrate to. He did what he thought was best for Malaysia and not only that treated everyone, The malays, chinese and indians as EQUALS!!!
And equality is not exactly a word heard here in Malaysia. In fact, I wonder if the current government even know what this "EQUALITY" means. I highly doubt it.
I'll tell you why;
Out of all the 5 major banks in Malaysia, only one bank is own by multi-racial, the rest are controlled by Malays.
99% of Petronas stations owned by Malays
3% of Petronas employees are Chinese.
100% Petronas projects contractors are Malays
95% intake for army, nurses & police are Malays
98% Government servants in Putrajaya are Malays
95% Government contracts are given to Malays
100% Government Vice Chancellors are Malays
100% students sent to Japan and Korea under the 'Look East Policy' are Malays
3 million Indonesian citizen became Malaysian citizen with Bumi status (special privileges such as exemption from tax and so on)
600,000 Chinese and Indians Malaysians with Red IC DENIED citizenship.
0% churches/temples built in housing estates
Up to 12% interest rate paid by Government for ASN/ASB (The unit trust scheme known as Amanah Saham Nasional (ASN) is a scheme for mobilising Malay savings for equity investment. ASN is aimed mainly at improving the economic conditions of the Bumiputera, especially the Malays and therefore) - taken from ASN
96.5% Government budget for Malay schools
0% of non-Malay staff are legally required in Malay companies. But there must be 30% Malay staffs in Chinese companies.
80% of the Chinese rice millers in Kedah had to be sold to Malay controlled Bernas in 1980s. Otherwise, life is made difficult for Chinese rice millers.
While a Chinese parent with RM1000 salary (monthly) cannot get school-text-book-loan, a Malay parent with RM2000 salary is eligible.
Anger that most of the taxes paid by the non Malays are used to support the Muslim bumiputras and very little is left behind for others.Unlike in Australia, Canada & New Zealand where taxes are used to provide educational, social and health subsidies for all, irrespective of religion, race or creed.
Guess what, the list doesn't end there. There's more racial discrimination going on.
List of racial discrimination
So where does that leaves us Chinese and Indians?? What will happen to us in the near future. Despite NOT getting special privileges that the Malays get, the Chinese still strives and one of the reasons why Malaysia is still doing well is because of the Chinese and Indians which owns our own businesses and such. But no one is fighting to protect OUR rights and what we want. Our 'so-called' Chinese and Indian representative are mafia heads ( a well know fact) and care nothing but his own pocket. Oppose him and you end up facing the mafia. Seriously, what will happen to us with no one there to help us.
Sink or swim? We're barely hanging on.
I ended up crying while typing, it really upsets me that I'm nothing more than a 2nd class citizen in MY own country. Move out and back to China and I'll still be look down upon since my ancestors ran from the war during the WWII to escape famine and beheading, move west and I'll be nothing more than a c***k!
But then again, I rather be a c***k than to be a 2nd class citizen in my own country especially not after working so hard to help it grow only to be suppressed and unappreciated.
Oh another thing, The ( our ) Truth Revealed, Hang Tuah n da gang r chineseā¦
READ IT MALAYSIANS, KNOW YOUR HISTORY!
Please do not ask the chinese nor the indian to go back to
their home country!
Cos evidence shows that Malays are NOT Malaysia origin either!
Your ancestor are all imigrant from INDONESIA! Let us unite as
a nation and not divided by races.
Edit: EH! how can this be, someone reading my blog as soon as I posted it up.. o.O
who can it be?

Wow.. didn't know there were actual statistics on the racial/ethnic coverage out there like that. Well I'm sure they were there, but didn't know if it was openly accessible to the public. My Dad use to tell me that one of the reasons we immigrated to Canada was because of all the things you've just stated in this blog. Though I never really understood it as my parents back then held good jobs and were treated relatively fairly, or at least from what I could see.
I've overheard my parents speaking to my relatives back home and how they're not doing as well as they used too either, financially speaking. They used to think my Dad made a bad move by immigrating, but now they're starting to wish they had done the same.
Anyways, like you said, there's a lot of history and change never happens overnight. The best you can do is spread the word and educate others that might never see the statistics or even think about it. Though I can't really experience it I sympathize for you and my family back home. Feel free to come over to Canada anytime.. wink Like I said.. highly multicultural here, but even so, you still see people will tend to stick to their own ethnic groups. Its sociology. People just tend to gravitate to others that understand and have grown up in their own relative cultures.
