In the beginning there was darkness; a cold emptiness that held nothing.
Then came the Light which ignited the universe and tore the darkness from nothingness.
In the aftermath of the fires of creation the universe spawned three primal forces that compose an elemental trinity; the power of Order,the power of Balance,and the power of Chaos and Creation.
The latter power is rumored to be the physical manifestation of the darkness that preceded creation and thus,came to be called,The Darkness.
No one knows how the Darkness came to mankind.Perhaps it was attracted to our unyielding ability to destroy.Or perhaps it was drawn to the dark,twisted places that exist in the minds of all men.
The Darkness bestows the power of creation upon the one who weilds it.However, the Darkness itself is a sentient being.The bearer can command the sentience of the Darkness to manifest itself physically-this is typically in the form of Darklings-impish,demon like creatures that serve,assist,and instruct the Bearer in the ways of the Darkness.
No one knows who the first Bearer of the Darkness was.What is know is that the power is passed from father to son at the moment of conception.The moment the Darkness leaves its host,the host dies. Upon transference,the Darkness lies domant,gathering strength until it can be unleashed through its host once again. This happens 21 years after the moment of birth.
