School’s chaos
The alarm woke her up as always, she got ready, ate breakfast and started to walk towards the school.
“Gee what time is anyways?” she whispered to herself and looked at her watch, “I’m earlier than usual…I wonder why.”
“Morning Ronnie!” a familiar voice said from behind her.
“Morning Jess,” She said smiling and turning to the boy.
“You’re early,” he said as they continued to walk up the street.
“So are you, why?”
“I don’t know I guess I was just quicker this morning, hey wait here a minute!”
“Euh…ok?” she said watching him run a little up the street before crossing it and going into the ice cream parlor, ‘I wonder…’
“Here, its your favorite, am I correct?” he said when he returned giving her a cream soda with extra fizz and a cherry on top with a ‘Fun Straw’.
“Thank you, but how did you know?” she asked looking up at him gratefully.
“I don’t really know, I guessed since you always had one when I saw you.” He replied.
“Really thank you.” She mumbled gently and leaned up to give him a small, but meaningful kiss on the cheek, “you deserved it” she said with a wink and lead him into the maple forest where they had played hide and seek the other day.
“You really like this place…” he said looking at her flushed face.
“Yeah don’t you?” she said as they walked through the forest.
“Hey isn’t this…” Jess murmured gently.
“The place…” Ronnie said quietly.
The rain was coming down hard, but she could do nothing but wait it out under the maple tree. A thirteen year old Veronica climbed up the tree waiting for the storm to end when she saw a boy about her age running through the forest.
“Don’t bother, in the darkness you’ll get lost.” She said to him, as he was about to pass her, “you’re that new kid right? Err…Jessie?”
“Yeah, you are?” he asked, climbing up the tree to sit next to her on a branch. “Veronica, you can call me Ronnie if you want…” she said a little smile on her face.
“Oh! I heard you hated being called Ronnie….” He said a little surprised.
“I don’t know why but I let certain people call me it, but only if I give them permission!” her smile grew into a grin.
“Oh…hey looks like it stopped,” he said as the rain let up and the last drops fell, “bye Ronnie!”
“Bye Jess!” she said with a wink and ran down the lane to her house.
When she had gotten home she couldn’t stop thinking about the boy she’d seen in the forest behind the park also known as the Maple Forest. He had Dark hair and amethyst eyes; he seemed to be a really nice person in school and out of school.
Meanwhile, back in the forest Jessie had stood there for about ten minutes thinking about her, he remained there staring into space at the place where he last saw her. Finally he shook his head and started his way home, though she consumed his thoughts. He wanted to see her again…
“Where we first met,” they finished in unison.
“We gotta get to school now!” Jessie said helping her up from the tree branch they were sitting on.
“Alright,” she said smiling.
The day at school was long and tiring for Veronica, it all started when she walked up to her friends…
“Ronnie, you know you’re going to have a long day right?” Jordan said her voice sounded very worried.
“Yeah I know, I’m gonna play with their heads though.” She said a little grin played across her face, “Oh and its Veronica.”
“Ok let’s go to class…” Cath said, leading the way.
But after class Veronica said that she would catch up with her friends a little later; she wanted to get something from her locker and that’s where she was imprudent. Veronica was alone! Which meant that Jessie’s fan club would easily outnumber her. She began to walk up the stairs to the fourth floor, but when she hit the third she felt as though she was being followed. She could hear the footsteps following her, however when she turned around no one was behind her, this happened several times until…
“This is very imprudent of you to be alone…” Paris’ high-pitched voice rang through the hall.
“Oh so its only you…” she said an innocently cute smile spread across her face.
“No its not only me, its me and my friends.” She replied in a dangerous voice.
‘Oh great now I’m dead!’ Veronica thought desperately, but her fear didn’t show on her face as over fifteen girls encircled her.
“What do you want?” she asked curiously or as curiously as she could fake.
“Well actually I want you to break up with our darling Jessie.” The girl replied a mischievous glint in her eye.
“Sorry can’t break up with Jess, I don’t feel like it” she replied; there was her hard headed self again.
“No one calls Jessie ‘Jess’!” Paris said angrily.
“Well actually, he gave me permission to call him that, so now you have nothing to say you little impatient obsessed, make-up freak!”
‘Oh great! It just came out, darn I should mind my tongue!’ she thought, this was it she’d hit a nerve.
“What’s going on?” an only too familiar voice said.
“Jess…” Paris mumbled walking up to him, leaving a hole in the circle.
The other girls seemed to be too distracted to notice anything; this was her chance she ran out of the circle and al the way behind Jessie.
“Its Jessie to you,” he said coldly before turning to Veronica, “You ok, Ronnie?”
“Yeah” she mumbled falling into his embrace.
“Jessie, are you telling me…” Paris said in an outraged tone of voice.
“Well if you’re asking me if she’s my girlfriend…yes.” He said and turned to look at the girl in his arms.
Once they were down stairs she almost screamed…
“DID YOU MEAN IT?!”
“The look on your face was unforgettable,” he said with a laugh.
“Did you?” she asked looking him directly in the eyes.
“We should get to class now; we’ll be late.” He said walking off, “oh just before…” he turned to her and handed her a piece of paper and left her staring at the spot where she last saw him…
“Veronica!” Cath said when she found her friend in the student’s lounge her hands encircling her knees.
“Veronica, you look like you’re going to cry.” Jordan said, “What happened?”
“Its probably Jessie…” Sam said from behind them.
“That freak, he’s just cold hearted you know.” Francis said as they all sat down.
“He…he…h-he…He’s not!” Veronica chocked before bursting into tears.
“You know what I can’t believe? Its that you can stand up to him even after that.” Francis muttered.
“W-W-Well I’m pretty sure Jordan would stand up for you even if you said something wrong…” Ronnie chocked through tears.
“Oh! He said something wrong?” Jordan asked.
“No…well…uhg!” and with that Veronica ran out of the lounge.
“You know I hate you now, right?” Francis said turning to the sofa in front of the fireplace.
“Yeah I figured that out.” Jessie said appearing from behind it.
“What? You!” Jordan said dumbstruck, “Grrr…I don’t know who to hit now since you’re both in it…” she was about to wail.
“Well to narrow down your choices I need to go find a certain Raven haired girl now.” Jess said walking out of the lounge.
“Good luck!” Sam muttered.
“Explain!” Jordan yelled at her boyfriend.
“Whoa! Relax and…please don’t hit me.” Francis said in a small voice making Jordan burst out laughing.
“Ok, seriously what’s going on?” she asked when she had settled in his arms.
“I don’t really know, but seems that you two, Jordan and Cath, left Veronica alone and one of this forty somehtin’ fan clubs followed her and so they had a few problems…big ones. And then he kind of popped out of nowhere, and helped her out and then I’m blanc. Sorry not much detail.” He replied.
“You ‘blanc out’ at the wrong times!” Jordan said with a giggle.
“Well I’m not sure this is just a rumor; he might have said something about Veronica being his girlfriend to Paris and then when they were downstairs or something she asked him if he meant it and he just ignored it and changed subject.” Francis said in an uncertain voice.
“What? And you call that blanc?” his girlfriend asked shock.
“Well its not sure, but I’m sure of the rest.”
“Well at any rate he went to go talk to her so hopefully he’ll make her feel better.” Catherine said hopefully.
“If not worse” Sam added.
“You make things seem very morbid!” his girlfriend said smacking him on back of the head.
“Yeah I know but there’s nothing I can do about it, I mean it is the truth.” He replied massaging the area where she hit him.
“Hey since when are you so gentle?” Cath asked as she watched Francis his hands comb through Jordan’s long brown hair.
“What?” he said confused.
“Since forever, but you just need to get to know him.” His emerald-eyed girlfriend replied.
“Well I’ve known him for like ever and never knew he was that soft.” Sam joked, which forced Jordan to hold down Francis from causing any harm to the dark haired boy.
“Well I guess only you can reach that soft spot, so he is pretty much always…” Cath started but was cut off.
“Hard, outgoing Francis, sportaholic.” Sam finished.
