November 2, 2009: See It or Skip It- Pixar Films
If you need a refresher of how this thing works, go here!

Now then, Pixar is a company owned and produced by Disney, but the movies are made by a completely different team of animators and directors. All of Pixar's movies are made with CGI, and only a few of them have any songs.

Another note: this is an interesting week, as I think every movie recieved a thumbs-up. However, some of them aren't as good as others, so read through the descriptions to see how good they really are.

So, without further ado, I introduce you to week one of
See It or Skip It- Pixar Films

User ImageToy Story (1995)
Toy Story is an adorible movie about Woody, a toy who is possessive of his owner and terrified of not being wanted anymore. It's sweet and kinda sad thanks to him, and also kooky and weird thanks to Buzz, a spaceman toy who actually thinks he's a real astronaut. It's funny, and the song I Will Go Sailing No More is actually okay. Overall, though, Randy Newman's songs just aren't as good as Disney songs. Still, it's worth seeing.

User ImageA Bug's Life (199 cool
I find it strange that A Bug's Life has the lowest rating of all Pixar films on IMDB.com. This movie is awesome! A wacked-out invertor who messes everything up and an evil grasshopper who's afraid of birds? That's pretty killer! (not to mention the stickbug is played by David Hyde Peirce, the guy who plays Dr. Doppler in Treasure Planet) Sure, all of the songs suck, but it's so much better than the Dreamworks movie Antz (which I'll be rating in the coming weeks) and therefore it deserves a thumbs-up!

User ImageToy Story 2 (1999)
In my opinion, Toy Story 2 is 20 times better than the original. The song When She Loved Me is so much better than any of the songs from the original, and I really like Jessie. (though I don't think anyone else does) Either way, like her or not, she's a very relatable character. The entire movie is amazing, and you should totally see it!

User ImageMonsters, Inc. (2001)
This is one of my favorite Pixar movies. Period. The entire storyboard is genius, and the characters are awesome. I cry at the end everytime I watch it, because the ending is one of the best endings of any Pixar movie ever. Sure, there aren't really any songs until the credits, but whatever. No songs is better than a bunch of crap songs. Definitely see it!

User ImageFinding Nemo (2003)
One of the best Pixar movies. Though I will say this: Everyone watched this so much as kids because it was so good, and now everyone is sick of it. I have the ability to re-watch things 1,000,000 times, though, so that doesn't really apply to me. But anyways... none of that matters to you people who haven't seen it. Finding Nemo is heartbreaking within the first 10 minutes, and it's so amazingly good you would be crazy not to see it.

User ImageThe Incredibles (2004)
The first Pixar movie to be given a PG rating, The incredibles is action-packed, filled with perverted jokes, and has one of the best villians ever, Syndrome. (random note- he's played by Jason Lee, the guy who plays Earl in My Name is Earl) There are no songs, literally, but there's am amazing score and the characters kick butt. (in many ways) Definitely worth the watch!

User ImageCars (2006)
While I reccomend seeing it, I must point out: Cars is the worst of all the Pixar movies. It's not bad, but it's the least good. Does that make sense? I hope so, because I'm going to move on... So Cars. The story is basically Doc Hollywood, but with cars, not doctors. The characters are all losers. Some are losers in a cool way, but most just suck. Lightning McQueen can't keep his tongue in his mouth, which is both funny and weird. (ask Addie to impersonate Lightning, it's amazing) None of the songs are original, but some are still good. You should see it, but don't be surprised if you're slightly dissapointed.

User ImageRatatouille (2007)
Food and rats: a strangely amazing combination. The food makes me hungry, and the rats are so cute! There are some really funny lines, and there is one song, though I'm not sure whether it's original or from somewhere else. Anyway, there are a few face-palm moments, such as the "Change is Nature" segment, but otherwise it's a really good movie and very much worth the watch!

User ImageWALL-E (200 cool
Words cannot describe how amazing this movie is. WALL-E is so cute, and when you watch the movie with subtitles you find that he actually says stuff! (not to mention you can read the sound effects, such as "Decending Woosh" wink Amazing songs, though all of them are from old movies. The entire thing is tragic, and all of the characters are awesome. Not to mention there are really beautiful references to the Bible throughout. you should definitly see it!

User ImageUp (2009)
The best Pixar movie of all time, and one of my top 5 favorite movies. Up is beyond words. Up is one of the saddest, sweetest, most moving movies I've ever seen. There weren't any songs, but that was made up for in amazing lines. The ending is beautiful, and I can totally relate to Russell. (his parents are divorced, too!) Sure, there were face-palm moments, like the part with the planes, but otherwise the movie is amazingly beautiful and 100% worth the watch!

User ImageToy Story 3 (2010)
Even better than Up, which is saying something. It was the best of all the Toy Story movies, and even somebody who was never into the series would love it. Just ask Sara. Anyway, it was hilarous, depressing, heartwarming, and just about every emotion you could feel. I hate to sound corny but it's true. Also, the ending was perfect. I'm not kidding, it was perfect. Oh, and by the way, yes, I did cry. At a rather silly part to start crying, actually... sweatdrop

Once again, I agree with most of the ratings.

However...Cars...
I just can't...comprehend how people like this movie. I despise the characters and I want most all of them to die. twisted
And I'll watch them, and go "sucks for you biggrin "
The best thing about this movie is my impersonation (please don't ask me to do this in public...it's akward whee )
Sorry Cars, but your thunder's gone before the lightening even hits.

^ My attempt at being witty

As for Ratatouile (totally mispelled I know), it was okay. It was just so...over dramatic. I was like gonk
I mean really? Throw out your only hope of success b/c he's following his instinct? sweatdrop
I don't know...and the dad scene or whatever. I wanted to cry stare

But other than that, great reviews. I look forward to next week~

I agree, pixar movies get all thumbs ups

Besides Cars. That movie was pure Ka-chow-crap

I still havent seen ratatouille, and i havent watched toy story 2 in years, but im sure theyre pretty good.

I love bugs life, i like all the circus jokes ya know?

INCREDIBLES! Ok i used to hate it but the more i watch it the more i love it! I ADORE Syndrome/incrediboy and jack-jack. I really am hoping for a sequal because theres such a great prerequisite for one. And the score is lovely. It really sets the mood in the movie

Nemo - the only reason kids of our generation go to the aquarium biggrin everyone will always love nemo, you can watch it every day and like it. Somewhere, beyond the sea, somewhere waiting for me. My lover stands on golden sands and watches the ships that go sailing . . . hmm - humms -

Wall-e was great! Thanks for showing me that! We need to have another movie day like that!

Up - Ah-dorable - over exagerated face palm - lol awesome movie (What is he going to de-cide?)

Ok i never really liked toy story that much . . . is that bad? Its not bad or anything. I guess its just that it has no serious appeals to girl so it probably never attracted me as a child. And so i have no fond memories. Its ok though

Monsters inc is so cute!!!!
