The show never directly refers to the Janitor in any other way than calling him "Janitor," but I'm pretty sure I know his real name. Let me explain.
In the episode, 'My Friend The Doctor' it is revealed to J.D. that The Janitor was in the major motion picture 'The Fugitive.' The Janitor recites his line from the movie and then proceeds to tell J.D., "If you tell anyone, I'll kill you." or something to that effect.
Which pretty much brings me to my point. IMDb credits that character 'Transit Cop' to none other than Neil Flynn. So... the Janitor's character name is of course Neil.
I realize this is kind of stupid, but it is within the realm of possibility that Neil Flynn is playing an extension of himself as The Janitor. Those are my thoughts. What do you think?

Jan Itor
no but really if you pause it on the DVD on the Janitor and zoom to his name tag all it says it 'janitor'

Yeah, they actually say that in the commentary. I forget which season, but they make a direct reference to that episode and talk about who the Janitor really is. I think it ends something like "So is the Janitor really Neil Flynn?" "I guess, I mean who knows?" (laugh, laugh, etc.)

If Neil Flynn just happens to be a world class hurdler then that just settles it. However i still think that he probaly is Neil Flynn since there's no reference at all except for "Dr. Jan Itor"

It seems like it should be Neil Flynn, because if JD had watched the credits, he'd have seen it. But I wouldn't put it past the Janitor to legally change his name to 'Jan Itor' or something like that.

I dunno...Neil Flynn? I don't think Neil Flynn would choose his own name for the character.
Didn't we talk about this already? Or was it just the Wikipedia entry?
