It had taken a considerable amount of her smarts to get her away from the herd but she'd managed it. Life just wasn't as fun without her brother around. She may have loved to pick on him but she loved the big oaf and wanted to find him again. Daddy had told her that he'd been sent away to where ever the two leggers son was. So all she had to do was find that Lake thing and then she'd be set.
Problem was it was a long way and so far she was just lost. Everything looked the same around here and none of it looked like water. It had gotten slightly greener which was a good sign and she almost thought she could smell wet.
She shook her head as she paused for a moment in the shade. She could take a break for a moment and then continue on.  They'd been sent out to wander again on their own. Something about Dah wanting time to himself with mama and that they needed to learn some stuff. He wasn't sure what he was going to learn but at least 'zuka seemed happy about all this.
He poked around at the sparse plants as they wandered and occasionally found something that looked worth munching on.
"You really think this is good for us?" He nudged his sisters side once he was close enough to her.

 "Course it's good for us, Wadi. Don't see why it wuoldn't be. Gotta get out an' do big things someday, right?" She pranced around her brother. He was soooooo slow and sooooo spooked about everything. At least he was getting a bit better... When she was around. Sortof.
"I think we should go to the stream and play with the fishies. Maybe Gran'dah's there with the Green Lady."

She frowned as she thought she heard something and headed away from her shady hiding place. It was voices of some sort though it didn't sound a thing like her brother. Maybe they could tell her how to get to the lake so she could find him. Her brow raised as she noticed two little foals off in the distance. They were too far away to see properly but at least she knew she wasn't hearing things.
Picking up her pace she headed for them in hopes that they could be some help. The little colt was standing between her and the other one as she got closer. "Excuse me little ones ..."
"But i don't wanna be out here ... could get hurt." Technically they could get hurt at home too but that wasn't the point. "...fishies..." He just ended up jumping when those things touched him so what was the point?
He'd been about to open his mouth when he heard a voice. Squeaking rather loudly he scrambled around his sister and ended up on his rump in the dirt for the effort. "Ahhh!"

"Waadiiii." She groaned as her brother dove behind her, turning to glare at him properly while ignoring the mare who'd spoken to them. "Yer not supposed t'be scared. Yer supposed t'be th'one keepin' me outta trouble, re-mem-ber?" At least that's what Dah always said... Mama always said different. She said that mares could stand up just as easily on their own.
With a little huff she turned towards the mare that had spooked her brother. "What's th'big idear... Spookin' Wadi like that. Y'know that's not nice, right? Yer supposed t'announce yerself before interruptin' someone else's talkin'."

When the colt had a fit and dove behind the little mare she was surprised. She couldn't remember a foal every doing something like that. Shaking her head she looked down to the mare to answer her question and stopped cold. " ...... "
No, no it couldn't be. He couldn't have but she knew those stripes they were plain as the ones covering her backside. "I did announce myself. I said excuse me." It wasn't her fault that the foals hadn't heard her coming. "Didn't your daddy tell you that's how you're suppose to announce yourself hum?"
After letting his heart return itself back to his chest he peered around his sister. "Ah am not ...." Well he -was- but he couldn't. She was always the one protecting him after all.
As the thing, mare, that had startled him spoke he looked up at her. His eyes widened and he poked his sisters side with his nose. "She looks like Dah!"

"He says you're supposed t'do it in a way that people can hear you... Not be sneaky about it." She snorted softly, tossing her head high and holding it there. She'd show her now, wouldn't she...
That haughty air around her faded the moment her brother spoke. She turned to him once more after glancing at the mare. "No she doesn't. Dah's much nicer looking than she is... Plus he's stronger and I bet he's faster too."

"I was making plenty of noise. It's not my fault you two didn't hear me." She tossed her head and laughed. Oh if she was right it must have been one heck of a mare that he'd gotten himself involved with to get a brat like that.
"Stronger maybe but that's only because he's bigger than me. Faster? Never." She'd always been faster than her brother no matter how hard he tried.
"But Zuka ... she's prettier than Dah." Probably cause she was a she but she was still prettier.

"It's not nice t'lie." She huffed at the mare before turning to give her brother's shoulder a nudge with her nose. "Told tell her my name. S'bad enough she knows yours... What if she's one of those 'bad people' that we're supposed to be watching out for when we're out?" Yes, that would just go ahead and feed her brother's fear but if he ran then she could run after him and she wouldn't have to talk to this mare who was saying things about her Dah anymore.

She nickered softly as the two foals bickered with eachother. "Your Daddy wouldn't happen to be named Nuka would he?" He had to be. No one else could have stripes like that but her family. It seemed she really was an aunt now. Nuka'd love it when he found out that she knew, oh yes.
His eyes widened as his sister mentioned the bad people. "nununununu...." She wasn't allowed to be one of them because she knew their names and Dah's name. "No bad people! You told me we wouldn't run into bad people!"

"She knows Dah's name too! Now she knows three of us..." She was about to say something else to her brother; something that would probably make him take off running in the other direction, but she paused. She turned to look at the mare, nose wrinkled as she gazed up at her. "... How do you know Dah? You aren't one of those mares that I hear Mama grumblin' at Dah about, are you?"

"I highly doubt i am any of those mares your mother grumbles about." She laughed softly and leaned her head down toward the mare. "I know your Dah cause he happens to be my big oaf of a brother."
Brother? Dah had a sister? He'd never said anything about her before. Though Dah didn't talk about his family a lot anyway. "'zuka ... be nice or she might eat us ..." He whinnied softly as his sister in case she decided to do something silly.

She took a step back, not wanting the mare's nose in her face. "Dah never said anything about having a sister..." Her nose scrunched as she tilted her head high once more, not entirely certain that she should trust this mare. Deciding against it she turned to her brother with a gleam in her golden eyes. "Wadi... RUUUN!"
That said she bolted, knowing her brother would be at least five feet in front of her if not more by the time she took off.

She'd been about to answer that question for the little filly when she and her brother bolted. Oh yes. Nuka had defiantly gotten himself tangled up with one hell of a mare.
Shrugging her shoulders slightly she trotted off in the direction the foals had gone. They would most likely head home without thinking so as long as she went in that general direction she should find her brother.
He was indeed way ahead of his sister by the time she'd started running. It didn't take more than his name to get him back on his feet and scrambling away from the strange mare that said she was Dah's sister.

She knew exactly where her brother would run and, deep down, she was rather proud of herself... Even if she'd probably have to make hundreds of apologies to make up for spooking him. That was alright... She could always claim to be spooked as well and, this way, Dah would have to answer questions for them... Not the strange mare.
She glanced up from where she was standing by the lake, turning towards the sound of small hooves moving quickly through the forest by their home. She caught sight of her son and her brow lofted. "Woah there, Wadi. Careful there, you're gonna hurt yourself if you don't slow down."

The foals ran rather fast for their age so she'd have to give her brother credit for that. Or maybe not. Maybe she'd just give herself credit and say they got it from her somehow. It didn't take long before she could smell the water on the air and knew that she was getting close.
He skidded to a hault under his mother's legs and stood there panting. "creepy ... mare.... scared me .... and zuka ...." He butted his head against her legs so hide himself from the mare and whatever else might be out there.
