The morning sun was beginning its long journey across the sky as dark hooves made their way outside the outskirts of the forest's edge. The cool morning breeze ran its wispy fingers through the stallion's uneven black locks, and he grunted softly, perturbed.

The faint sweet scent he had been tracking throughout the night continued to elude him, the strength of the smell fading away. If he didn't catch up to her soon, he'd no doubt lose track of her by the morning wind, tossing every smell in every direction. Having avoided the close encounter and near fight with the bizarre skinwalker mare the previous night, Plague had spent the rest of the evening hours lurking amongst the trees and woods, determined to find the runaway kalona.

His mind was still reeling from what he learned from the alicorn's earlier trick. There was no doubt that the mare he had met had been a spirit of sorts, to be able to read his memories like she had. Though, if she hadn't had been as nosey as she was, he wouldn't have come to realize that he was responsible for siring foals with the candy kalona.

Foals had never meant anything more than an easy, tender meal to Plague; it was the fact itself that Dia would have kept such a secret from him that angered him, causing him to chase her down. Of all the stupid crazy things she had done in the past... this one beat one and all. Not only had she allowed herself to become pregnant... but she dared to keep the foals away from him? They were as much his as they were hers, no matter what either one planned or wanted to do with them.

He would find her; he was determined. And when he did, she would pay far more dearly than she ever had in the past. He would make sure of it.

The sun's rays had begun reflecting off of her ivory coat, but Diabetia, for once, didn't care for her appearance, and the beauty her shiny coat once brought her. Instead, she continued to suppress her moans as she stumbled across the field, her stomach churning and kicking. The foals were in rare form today, despite her efforts at trying to cease their existence throughout night.

How she had gone on for so long without realizing her state of pregnancy was beyond her... but it had appeared, the last time she spoke with Plague, that he as well didn't seem to be clued in to her impending motherhood. Perhaps not all had been lost. If she could manage to devour and rid herself of the remains of the foals before Plague found her, all she'd receive would be reprimanding for the scar she no doubt left on his shoulder. That itself would reward her with enough punishment than she cared for.

She didn't want him to know she was pregnant. She didn't want him to find out that he had sired the foals in her womb. Dia was ashamed she had allowed such a thing to happen to her, and she would rid herself of her problem as soon as she possibly could.

A sharp kick jabbed at her, and she sucked in a breath, her eyes watering. The kick had come from an area much lower than the foals usually kicked from... could it be? Was it possible? Were the foals coming out... now?!

Frustrated, Plague was tempted to take out part of his anger on one of the rats at his feet, crushing and grinding their tiny bodies into the ground. But there wasn't time for that now... he'd put her back in her place. After this kind of stunt... he wasn't sure if he actually wanted Diabetia back at his beck and call. All good and sweet things were doomed to come to an end, and it seemed that Dia's end was approaching fast and quickly.

Snorting, he attempted to smell out the candy and sweet scent of the mare, and, although his nose was weak, he was able to continue the trail down and into the clearing, picking up the pace so as not to lose the scent.

The pain was growing overwhelming, and Dia searched around for anything... whatever she could find that would shelter her. She wasn't about to birth any of these atrocities in public, right in the middle of some field! She would never live down the humiliation.

In the close distance, she spotted a large tree, it's branches looming widely as it stood strong, its roots healthy and happy from being sustained by the river close by. That tree would have to do for shelter, at least until she could get this awful ordeal over with.

Struggling to make her way over to the tree, Dia let out a hoarse scream, feeling the first foal on its way. She'd make that little b*****d pay... how DARE it cause her so much pain and grief!

Still moaning and screeching, she managed to reach her goal before collapsing onto the ground in front of the mighty trunk. Nearby, a pair of two leggers had been fishing in the river, and as they saw the demon horse approach, made a swift escape, leaving their poles and baskets behind on the ground. Ironically, the baskets had been festively colored in pink, purple, white and black... no doubt in celebration for some two legger occasion that the fish were meant for.

She gritted her teeth and forced herself into labor... if she was going to have to go through this torment, she was going to finish it as quick as possible.

As he continued his steady pace further into the clearing, his hollow eyes were quick to notice a pair of two leggers racing across the land in his direction, only to practically topple atop one another as they noticed his presence. Seeing the intimidating mutant with an army of rats and fleas surrounding him, the natives let out some jibberish screams before turning their tailless hides in a different direction and bolting away.

Famished, Plague was tempted to pursue them... the meat off a two legger seemed rather appetizing at the moment. But curiosity got the better of his hunger, and he looked towards the direction from where the two leggers had run from. Something had obviously scared them into running away, and by the faint scent of candy, Plague knew only one thing that could have done the trick.

He was slightly impressed, he'd admit, that she chose to walk towards the river, more than likely to use the water to hide her tell-tale trail from any pursuers, namely, himself. Perhaps there was some intelligence left in that tiny brain of hers.

The howl that reached his ears perked his interest even further. It was a howl of pain and torture... and it delighted him greatly to hear it. A familiar howl, from a very familiar kalona. His eyes narrowed, though, at the thought of another creature other than himself causing the harm towards her. She was his to do with as he pleased, and no one else's.

Spreading out his feathered wings, he gave a few forceful thrusts before lifting himself up into the air, and towards the direction of the cries. The rats ran beneath him on the ground, their tiny noses pursuing the sugary scent that beckoned and intrigued their master's interest. It wouldn't be long at all until both parties reached the loud screeching, and both rat and mutant found themselves curious as to what could be causing such a ruckus.

Grunting and groaning, Dia let out a final wail as she pushed the third foal out, giving herself a moment to pause as the sweat trickled down her cheek. She was exhausted, tired, and wet... definitely a combination she could greatly do without. Having ignored her first two foals that were troublesome enough to leave the womb, both had, unfortunately, been smart enough to figure out how to rub their faces against the grass to clean and free their airway passage. On the other hand, it now gave Dia the opportunity to kill them herself, in any way she wished. The thought would have been far more delightful, if she hadn’t been so damn tired from the effort she was forced to make.

Resting her own head against the cool blades of grass, she ignored the third foal who had escaped from within her, who, as well as his sister and brother, managed to clean his face off. Once she gained enough strength, she would teach those three what it meant to cause pain. Did they have the faintest idea of how much discomfort and pain they put her through?

Then again... she could always eat one of the foals now, and that should prove nourishing enough to regain some strength back. But which to choose was now the question. Her pink eyes scanned the trio, each taking after both father and mother. It was disgusting and repulsive at the same time... miniature versions of herself and Plague. What a horrible curse to have to live with, knowing there were pitiful creatures out there that resembled your beauty and grace. These three had determined to leave her stomach once... she'd put them right back in.

It made sense to start with the eldest, the filly. She reminded Dia too much of Plague, and since she was the first to cause Dia pain, why shouldn't Dia return the favor to her first?

Even though her body remained sore and pain-stricken, the kalona managed to raise herself up, her mouth already salivating at the thought of tender foal meat. She didn't have to approach the foals, for they willingly came towards her, in search of the care and nourishment every newborn sought from their mother. Her mouth opened wide, and leaned forward, simply waiting for the filly to stumble close enough within her reach.

Plague's eyes widened as he came across a scene he hadn't expected to see. Instead of a predator attacking the candied kalona, he saw three small foals approaching the mare on the ground, whose intentions seemed obvious enough from her opened jaw.

Only minutes ago he was attempting to come to terms with the fact that she was pregnant... and now he was forced to deal with the foals' arrival into this world? It pissed him off even further, for it could only mean Dia had kept the secret of her pregnancy much longer than he had assumed she had. She had hidden it well, up until the end, that sneaky, conniving harlot. He would teach her a lesson for tricking him; he would repay her for her insolence.

His brain calculated and raced to form an idea. It wouldn't be hard, to upset and infuriate her to the level she had put him at. But he wanted more... he wanted her insane with anger, so upset and furious that she no longer could be the Sweetness he knew and attempted to train. It was time to pay her back for all the treachery, all the rebellions, all the headaches she caused him.

His heavy hooves made a loud thud against the ground as he landed close to the tree, causing squeaks from the three small horses as they stumbled onto the ground, their sense of balance greatly lacking. He let out a low snort as he pushed himself in between the foals and their mother, knowing fully well that the mother who had just given birth to them now wished to take their lives away.

He mused, an idea forming from the realization of what Dia was attempting to do. The idea intertwined with his wishes of forcing further pain onto her... and it would prove to be of great interest to him in the near future, if it could be carried out.

"I see, Diabetia, that there's something you forgot to mention to me." he growled, his voice low and angry.

Dia's eyes widened as the dark mutant landed close by. She hadn't expected him to arrive so soon... had he been following her? For how long?

She continued to stare at him, her mouth gaped open, and she watched as he put himself in between her and her newborns. He knew what she was planning on doing, she could see it in those fierce eyes. But, she knew that he wouldn't be one to care any more for the foals than she would... so why protect them?

Her warm and sweaty body turned clammy as she heard him speak. He hadn't used her name in years... long before she had become an adult. In all honestly, she couldn't even recall the last time he called her by her given name, instead of his usual nickname. It could only mean that Plague was angry... and far more angry than he had ever been.

"I didn't realize until recently, myself," she spat back, her own eyes glaring back at his empty ones. "But it's too late now, and I don't see why you should make a fuss out of it. I put the work into it, now don't deprive me of my dinner, Plague."

The intelligence he had credited her with soon vanished at hearing her excuse. How could a mare not realize she was pregnant, up until around the time she was due to give birth? Was she really that stupid? Or perhaps her vanity got the best of her and Dia was too consumed with herself to think about the growing bulge in her stomach?

It was clear from her demand that she wasn't about to back down and away from the foals; she had every intention of killing each and every one of them off, and wanted Plague out of the way.

The stallion took a moment to turn to examine the three weaklings that had caused such drama out of their so-called mother. None of the three looked exactly like either parent, but it was painfully obvious to the eye as to whom each foal belonged to, genetic-wise. There was no doubt than any of the three didn't belong to both Dia and himself, and it dawned on to him that perhaps it wasn't simply hatred Dia was feeling towards her offspring... but perhaps feelings of jealousy as well?

Turning back around, his long hair brushed up against his side, covering many of the sores amassed across his body. His black eyes searched Dia's expression. She truly was a vain creature, to demand the death of her own spawn on the basis they looked just like her. It was a pity that she continued to let her emotions rule her. There had been so much potential in her.

"No, Sweetness, none of these three shall be your meal. Not now, not ever."

He gave her a wicked grin before turning to an angle, nudging the foals further away from their dam. "Instead, they shall be your replacement, since you seem determined to become a failure in my eyes. They shall grow up under my training, as you did yourself, but perhaps at least one, if not all of them, can prove themselves to becoming far superior than you could ever strive to be."

Hot pink eyes blinked, first in confusion, and then in anger.

How dare he steal away her meal once again, and then on top of that, insult her! And it wasn't just any insult... he was using her own flesh and blood to mock her with, and she could feel her cheeks flushing in anger as he did it.

She attempted to struggle to her feet, only to fall back down out of the soreness and pain her body still suffered and ached from. He had the advantage, and both knew it.

She's show him, though... she'd show all of them... she wasn't just some pretty mare that could be pushed around. She was a kalona and there was a reason kalonas were known as an evil breed.

Though she was unable to raise herself up, it didn't mean she was immobile. Dia launched herself forward, her mouth spread wide, ready to attack and lash out at whatever it came in contact with first.

Plague snarled as he felt the sharp fangs dig into his ankle, and he immediately jerked his leg up in a kicking manner, tossing the mare's head off with force.

Cursing, he leaned down and gave her stomach a swift kick, and watched her scream as he knew he had hit one of her sorest areas. Crazy damn mare, trying to fight back even when she knew she couldn't win. If it weren't for the fact he knew raising her foals would drive her insane, he'd kill her right now and be done with it all. He was growing tired of her antics and rebellion... it was time to move on, at least, for now. If anything, she would come to regret making him angry and giving up on her... especially when she saw just how powerful her children would become... even more powerful than herself.

Sneering, Plague made his way over to the baskets the two leggers had left on the river banks. They would be suitable enough to shelter the foals until they were strong enough to leave their baskets. Then, their training would begin.

Lifting the baskets onto his back and settling them between his wings, he gave his first command to the foals to walk forward, away from their mother and into a world of the unknown. It would be the first words the foals would ever have spoken to them... and they would come to know Plague's orders and his command. For Plague's word was final, and never to be disputed or compromised. He would make sure they'd never forget it.

He turned around to give the kalona one last glance. She looked so pitiful, lying there against the tree. It was pathetic to see such a waste of time and energy. Perhaps she could grow and learn from her mistakes, but he was done with her, she was of no use to him anymore. These foals would indeed prove to be a replacement of her... and hopefully, if he had his way, they would grow to be much stronger, much wiser, and much more obedient than their rebellious mother ever was.

He snorted in her direction, knowing fully well she was too weak to follow them, and turned back around, nudging and forcing the wobbling foals forward, the ideas and plans already forming in his head.
