Meiosis is basically the first step to how a baby is made on a cellular level. Gametes (in human's case, the sperm and the egg) are produced through Meiosis. That's where your chromosome pairs mix together, split, duplicate, and split into 4 cells, so 1 half pair in each cell.
Mummy A and Daddy B's gametes only have half the DNA information needed to make a kid (so they are haploid), so they bond and genetically merge to create a baby. Kay?
