So I'm going crazy, my guinea pigs have lice and I have no idea what to do. I haven't found a good vet for them that have any idea what they're doing and the treatments that I've used on them like baby lice removal is not good. I don't want my bunny to get lice but I just can't stand them! Does any one have any idea or been in this position to help me?

Here is a paragraph I found from a hamster web siteQuote: Fleas and lice These pests can be passed on to your hamster from cats, dogs, rats, and mice. You should bring your hamster to the veterinarian to obtain flea powder to kill the parasites instead of buying off the shelf or using your other pet's flea powder, as some flea powder may contain harmful ingredients to your small pet. Change the bedding before each application so any eggs ready to hatch will be discarded. Be sure to eliminate fleas and lice from all other afflicted household pets. And another I found from a guinea pig web site Quote: Lice are a skin parasite that lives by biting and sucking blood from the guinea pig – they are generally found attached to the hair follicles. Lice can cause sores, hair loss and severe skin irritation and itching. If you suspect your pet has lice, use caution when handling your pet as lice can be transferred from pet to human. Always wash your hands before and after handling your pet. Lice are generally treated by a medicated shampoo. Before beginning treatments, always consult with your veterinarian. sweatdrop Sorry if it didn't help. I have to go right now, I'll do more research when I get home.

Oh dear. Sorry to hear about the lice on your piggies. I've never had to deal with lice, but perhaps try asking a vet about Ivermec treatment; it worked very well when some of my critters caught Sarcoptic Mange and put them right very quickly.

Well, there's really no need to say this... but of course, keep the guinea pigs away from your other critters, so they won't get lice...
And clean the cage thoroughly!! (like horsephin says xd )
