Do you celebrate Thanksgiving?
Share with others here what you do for Thanksgiving, what are your traditions? What are your likes and dislikes?
If you don't celebrate Thanksgiving do you celebrate something similar?
What is it called? What does it signify? What do you do for it?

In Korea, there is something called Chunsokia. It is like a Korean Thanksgiving. Lots of really yummy foods like rice, meat, veggies all wrapped in dried and salted seaweed that is then cut in rolls, cool noodles fried with mushrooms, veggies and some meat, kimchee, soups, and other tasty treats. n.n

>>; My mom likes the rice cakes but I dun! xp

Mmm.. Rice cakes...

My family celebrates Thanksgiving, but we always go to step-mom's parents house for it. gonk So I have to get all dressed up and be polite, which is a lot of work for me... Usually Judy (step-mom's Mom) makes a big turkey, gravies, stuffing, macaroni and cheese, asparagus or green beans, and either mashed potatos or sweet potatos. I make rolls, deviled eggs and pies for dessert. The food is all good, but man... Being the only person between 16 and 35 is really uncomfortable. sweatdrop

For me, it really depends on family what goes on for Thanksgiving. My dad's family and my mom's family are both local. So this year, we're going to my grandparents' house on my mom's side. Some years my mom cooks (mmm, my mom makes the best brined turkey ever). Some years we eat at a golf club with my grandparents on my dad's side. They don't cook.

Whenever we cook for Thanksgiving, it's always pot luck -- whoever's hosting makes the turkey and usually the stuffing and gravy, and the rest of us bring veggies and starches. I'm not getting to help out this year because I have to work on Thanksgiving. I work at a retirement center as a cook! So I'll be cooking for the residents, and then taking off to go to the grandfolks'.

Went to many a family celebration where my sister and I were the only 'young adults' present.... and it can be pretty uncomfortable. But try talking to the old folks, you just may find out they are cooler than you think.
*Grin* This view of the past was provided by..... icebrat, who is now one of the old folks sweatdrop .
My Thanksgiving is going to be smaller than I had planned. It will be at my house and I do get to do most of the cooking biggrin .
Unfortunately, my step-mother took a fall recently and broke her hip and damaged her shoulder. She is recovering from surgery (on the hip) and can't travel.

My Thanksgiving (Harvest feast) is in September, so unless my extended family wants me to cook for them, my husband and I don't celebrate the November holiday.

When I *do* cook the big meal, it's the same as every other American Thanksgiving... huge a** turkey, pumpkin pie, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, squash soup, all that jazz.

For the September feast, we use duck instead of turkey. Mmm, duck.

My fave 'eating' holiday. Mash potatoes, olives, stuffing, turkey, other good veggies.
