so lets get this straight now, you hear people on one mic and cant talk, and yuo cant talk or hear on the other. after doing some thinking (and trying to find out what you were sayin in ur mispellings) it sounds to me like you may have some crapped out mics? are they new? did you buy them off low budget websites like craigslist? if you can provide me with info i may be able to help. have you flicked the switch on your mic from the left to right. the on button (to speak) you have to flick to the right. how do you know people cant hear you? maybe they're ignoring you, nobody decides to talk (honestly i get this a lot, one second people are chatterboxes in the lobby, then when it comes gametime they all shut up.) consider these questions and get bak to me with some answers.

There is a parental control thing that you might have turned on accidentally, which makes it so you cannot talk to people. Check the parental control pannel.

Alright ill try the best i can.
The first mic that i can hear people but cant to to people with came with my 360. One day my friend told me it was buzzing so i took it out and back in he said it still was i switched to my other mic. That came with my Xbox live vision camera with a 12 month sucription.
The first mic i already turned it to talk and the volume all the way high i can sometimes talk. But then it sometimes from what i heard from my friend when i talk it buzzes.

I just had to resort to my old Halo 2 mic tonight.
My first mic started doing that about 2-3 months ago, so I put it away and pulled out my spare. My spare got to it tonight, and I tried my first mic for awhile. Lasted about an hour before starting that crap again...so I got my Halo 2 mic. (Not that I don't like it...it's just that it sounds like everyone is being played through a radio inside a submarine and I'm listening through sonar. @.@)

Default family settings keep you form talking to anyone but freinds. That was a problem for me at first, just try checking Parent options to cheak and see if that might be it.
