There were things that he and Kitara had to talk about... And now that their foals were older it was definately time. He wouldn't change who he was and he couldn't change what had happened... But he could at least attempt to make things right between he and the mare who had given him the only family he'd ever known.
He wandered back to the clearing where they had raised there little ones. Closing his eyes he could almost hear the sound of hooves scampering about... Of little voices arguing. The voices weren't all that little anymore. They were growing so quickly and, in a way, he was frightened. "Spirits, don't you let them turn out like me..."

Kitara was standing near the edge of the clearing, her thoughts where lost with thoughts of there children, running and playing ghost images in front of her mind. She could scaricely believe they where all grown now, yet still young at heart. Suddenly the mare felt achient, old as time itself.
She sighed and leaned her head down to nibble lightly at the grass. She heard framilure hoof steps dance across the air and slowly with a flick of her ear she looked up. THe handsome stallion with hair as fire, her friend and once... compainion stood at the far side of the feild. Her feelings with him where mixed, as over time she had found she loved him, yet she knew it was a different kind of love. Not the sort suited for mates, but the love for a dear friend. She smiled at him a bit, but couldnt help the stiffness of a burdon that seemed to encompass him.. Just what had Remy gotten himself into now?

He looked up and saw her. Her. His petite beauty with the spirit of a wild fire and the heart of a strong, brave mare. He felt a pang of something... That old longing mingled with guilt; a reminder of everything that had passed between them.
No, they wouldn't have been suited as mates for one another. They were too much alike. Far too alike and that was what had brought them together in the first place. He did care about her though... He would always care about her... But this wasn't somehing he should be keeping as an internal monologue. No, these were things he should be saying aloud.
He moved towards her, stopping a foot or so away. His head dropped and he starred at the ground. He looked up to her with the look of... A young stallion who had either done something or lost something very important to him. He looked... So very, very much like their sons. "Kitara... Ah don't know what Ah'm doin'. Ah'm not cut out t'be a Papa an' now they bigger an'..." He shook his head, pawing at the ground. Well, that hadn't been what he'd wanted to say.

Kitara looked at him with a soft motherly expression, and expression she had learned to ware well over the months. Yet, she was more his friend than a motherly figure, but the way he looked at her and the way he dipped his head...she couldnt help but fell compasion and the need to help him. "Well.. I wasnt ready to be a Ma' then either, But they have grown into handsome boys and a very beautiful daughter Remy. We where lucky to have had them. Maybe it wasnt the way we wanted it to be, but it worked out well... and you where a better Father to them than I think you realize. Yes they are grown now, but that shouldnt change anything between them and you."

"Oui. We was lucky, Chere... Ah was lucky t'find you that one day an' you an' Ah are lucky t'be as close as we are." He nodded slowly, taking a deep breath before raising his head a bit. Now wasn't the time to start with doubts and second guessing.
"Atsila jus' like you, Chere... An' th'boys? They trouble." He nickered softly, giving a slow shake of his head. "Least... Sedi trouble. Beau? He's a good boy." Both of his sons were good. He knew that. The slight teasing sound in his tones backed up his belief of that, even if the boy who resembled himself in coloration didn't fall far from the tree as far as attitude went either.
When she mentioned change his brow furrowed slightly, gaze drifting back towards the little hollow where the young ones had slept at night nestled close to Kitara. He closed his eyes after a moment. "Chere... What sorta thoughts went through your head when you found out you was carryin' mah foals? Ah know it took you a while ta come tell me... But what was you thinkin'? Did you jus' need time ta let it settle that it was happenin'?"

Kitara watched Remy, her amber eyes filled with motherly love as her thoughts began to run through her mind with wild abandon. Turning over memories of their foals. Beau and Sedi playing tag, and Atsila's stubborn independace. The corners of her mouth flicked upwards and into a smile, Atsila was very much like her.
A sigh escaped her as she flicked her ears and a lazy toss of her head. Her short white mane bobbed like a sea of white foam over chocolate waves. "I was scared." she admited to him at last as her thoughts trailed back farther in time, when she had met the mare at the stream. She turned to Remy and lifted her head, might as well tell him the truth now, she had already admited her fear of the matter.
"Before I found out I was with foal, I ran into a mare whom had told me... horrors. I was raised in that the stallion took care of the mare, and that all lived as a Happy family. I was... blind to the ways of the rest of the world, and when she told me her story it scared me. I couldnt believe that stallions would use mares like that... " She would hunt her boys down and mame them for treating any mare like that one had been treated, she would not have her sons behave so.

"Ah wasn't raised that way... But Ah knew it. Ah know that as strong an' as spirited as any mare is, it's the stallion's job ta take any blow first. He protects those her cares 'bout most an' especially watches after th'mares in his family. Ah tried hard ta teach Sedi an' Beau that." He nodded slowly, recalling the words of his sons in reguards to keeping an eye out for their sister. If there was one thing they had learned from him, it was that.
He moved closer to the spirited mare, brushing the tip of his nose against her shoulder in a friendly nudge. He needed to be close to someone right now and it helped to be close to someone that was family. He had never had a family to rely on before and this was something new to him... As new as speaking so freely about everything on his mind.
"At least you stayed with me after y'told me. Not like ya had much o' a choice with how quickly th'foals came after... But you stayed." He pulled his head back, letting it hang once more as his eyes closed. "K'tara, chere, Rogue... She... Ah don't know where she is an Ah can't chase after her. Ah told her Ah'd give her space but Ah don't know if she's comin' back or if somethin's happenin' that I can't do nothin' about. Ah hate feelin'... Weak." The last word was spoken as a whisper that he hadn't wanted to give voice to at all... But if they were confessing then it was all or nothing and he would keep nothing more from this mare that had given him his first family.

Kitara looked at her friend and though she had a few key points and snide remarks she could have tossed in, in an attempt to lighten the mood she knew they would have just backfired. Now was not the time. Remy was...vunerable right now. In all the time she had known the stallion she had never seen him in this state. When the fire had dimmed from his red eyes, that had brought her pain then she had known what to do. She had to let him go and set him free, as free as she wanted to be.
Now, Now he was broken and scared. He didnt know which way to turn and it disterbed her to see him in such a state. The proud stallion that had fathered her children and been closer to her than some of her own flesh and blood. "Remy...." her voice was soft when she finally spoke and like a whisper died into the stillness of the air around them. She was lost for words.
The chocolate mare sighed softly and touched her nose to his shoulder, nuzzling him softly in a friendly gesture. "I know it hurts... But she'll be back. She needs some space. We always ran away from eachother for long periods of time. Though we left on good terms it was the same. You'll see her again and when you do you can make things right."
There was a pang in her chest as she realised why Remy was she broken over that mare leaving. He.. must love her, or feel some attachment that he had never felt for her. She smiled somewhat bitterly, she must be quite a mare to ensnare such a stallion, and if she broke him... so help her.

He turned his head, leaning it against Kitara's neck for a brief moment as he took the comfort that she was offering him. This was what family was about... Or, at least, it was part of it. Family meant being able to rely upon one another and carring no matter how much it hurt.
"K'tara..." He shifted slightly so that he could look her full on the face. "You still family an' Ah care 'bout you jus' as much now as Ah did then. This? This jus' makes tha family bigger. Family... It ain't jus' blood. It what you make of it an' you a big part o' mine." He knew that his words would probably hurt her, even if only a little, but they were words that needed to be said; more things that she needed to know.
He closed his eyes, letting his head drift lower for a moment, a soft, sad smile curving his lips. "Thank you, Chere... For everythin'."

Kitara listened to Remy with an open heart, as she did so often. Yet.. his words didnt make much sence to her. A bigger family? What did he mean.. They where already a fairly large family.
A cold shock ran through her, the green mare... he could have? No.. Remy wouldnt have wanted a biger family already, not with their kids just grown. Then again... they hadnt wanted a family either.
He almost sounded, sad. Like a stallion that was about to throw himself off a cliff or face an unspeakable foe. He almost sounded like he was saying his last goodbyes. Surely something had to be much worse than she had thought, how silly of her to jump to that conclusion.. was she really so bitter still?
Kitara softly bit down on her lower lip as she looked into his eyes of firey embers. "You're welcome Remy... but.. whats going on?"
