Ryuune sat comfortably under one of the candy-cane tries, staring at the little forms in his paws. Staring, because he still couldn't believe it, and was entirely sure that this was a dream. They couldn't--they hadn't--how was this possible? The fact that he was going to be a father was just-it was-terrifying.
Of course he was happy, he was ecstatic over the thought that Mysidia and himself were going to be parents and not just parents of two or three but four. His paws trembled slightly as his mind whirled, though he was careful not to harm any of the precious feathers and he held them and he couldn't help the faint blush that clung to him at the thought. They were going to be parents.
What would Mysidia think? Would she be happy? She would, of course she would, but even now he was afraid of how she would react. What would she do? They had been together for a long time and Ryuune had begun to pride himself on knowing what his mate would do, but right now, well, he was just a mass of I-must-be-dreaming-this-isn't-possible right now and he wasn't thinking very much.

The golden chocobo numa female was singing happily as she flew through the sky. Ever since she and Ryuune had prayed the last time she had felt a buoyancy she had never known. Her sweet clear voice sang out in the chill air.
"The second I saw it I knew. I said to myself, "Ah-ha!" I could tell at a glance That it wasn't by chance That we happen to be where we are. From the moment I woke with the lark. We were both of us singing away. And the sky was so blue, I instinctively knew We were in for a wonderful day. As I came through the door, As I told you before, I was terribly tempted to say...
On a wonderful day like today I defy any cloud to appear in the sky! Dare any raindrop to plop in my eye On a wonderful day like today!
On a wonderful morning like this When the sun is as big as a yellow balloon! Even the sparrows are singing in tune On a wonderful morning like this!
On a morning like this I could kiss everybody I'm so full of love & good will! Let me say furthermore I'd adore everybody to come & dine The pleasure's mine And I will pay the bill.
May I take this occasion to say That the whole Numa race should do down on its knees. Show that we're grateful for mornings like these, For the world's in a wonderful way, On a wonderful day like today!!!"
She sung as bright and happy as the sun itself. Then spotting her mate she angled towards him with a very birdlike, very excited, squeak. "Ryuuuuune!!!" As she neared Mysidia saw the shafts of very non-Ryuune colors in his paws and back-winged quickly to stop her aerial tackle. Her blue eyes became as round as saucers. "Ryuune... are those... kweh! Are those...?" But the question would not form itself. Hope & delight flickered brightly in her still shocked eyes. Oh were they...? Were they, really?!? After all this time, after all their prayers could they finally have had their wishes granted?

Ryuune heard Mysidia long before he saw her, the song she sung was beautiful but even so he could not turn to look and watch her approach. Only when he heard his name, spoken in the marvelous voice that could only be his mate, did he lift his gaze from the feathers. He jaw worked as she spoke, but his voice had fled. He simply nodded in answer and slowly held out his paws to her, the feathers clutched gently within.
"I....I think ssso." He managed to croak out, emotion clogging his throat, "The ssswan came here and gave them to me, ssso...? Yesss?" The last word came as a squeak and he coughed to clear it, embarrased. "I think....I think...." His voice trailed off, his gaze falling back to the gorgeous feathers.

The chocobo numa female landed softly with a reverent grace the likes which she had never shown. Paddinng forward in awe Mysidia moved until she was touching her mate, gaze on the feathers. "Ours..." She breathed in wonder, blue eyes wide & shining. "Oh kweh Ryuune...."
Leaning into her mate's side she gingerly reached out a paw to touch the feathers. "They're beaukwehful."

Ryuune welcomed her touch, it kept him on this side of reality. He nodded wordlessly in agreement to his mate's words. He blinked as the wieght of what this meant finally sank in deep enough. " We're going to be parentsss." He stated, eyes wide, "We're going to be parentsss." He looked at her, a sheepish lop-sided smile blossoming, "Do you think we're ready?" He asked, laughing nervously, "We've been trying for ssso long....but are we even ready?"

Licking at his lopsided smile -he was so cute!!- Mysidia shrugged softly. "I don't know... I kweh just don't know. But we must be or our kweh prayers wouldn't have been answered, would they?"
Snuggling further into Ryuune's side she murmured in awe. "Parents..."

Ryuune flushed pink as she licked him but he smiled all the same. He lay his head sideways on hers as she snuggled into him, "Yeah..." He brought the feathers closer to them and managed to seperate one from the others. "Thiss one..." He said, "Looks the mossst like uss, I think." HE said, satring at them, "I think the green one..." He seperated that one, "Isss ssupposssed to be like me..." He stared at the flowery brown one and the blue, "But I do not know about thesssse."
He shook his head, "But sstill, they're ourss." He tasted "ours" on his tongue, it sounded amazing, "I wonder what they'll look like." He whispered, nuzzling her and licking her cheek affectionately, "Will they have your mouth?" He grinned, tongue snaking out to lick it, "Or will they sspeak like me?"

Mys giggled happily, licking him back. "Kweh! The blue's so pretty... and I love kweh flowers." She giggled anew as the butterfly brushed its wings against their paws. "Perhaps I kweh expected yellow & green?" Her blue eyes looked amazed and full of love all at once and she cooed softly over ther feathers, getting as close to her mate as possible. "I hope kweh so... I love how you speak, Ryuune."

Ryuune laughed, "I think thiss one will have a companion." He commented, nosing the sleeping snake that curled around it. It hissed softly, but offered no agitiation toward either of them, merely adjusting in it's sleep.
Ryuune nuzzled her again, "Yesss, I did too, but it isss ssaid that not all of the children will look like the parentss." He sighed softly, still smiling, "But we will sstill be their parentss, yess?"
He chuckled, wrapping an arm around her to keep her close, "I hope they have your little "kweh"ss, Myss," He murmured, "They'll be even more adorable then."

"Oh course!!" Mys sounded aghast at the thought that she & Ryuune might not make the most perfect parents ever. Despite the fact that she new very little about beign one. Besides, her human was a parent, and ever since before Halloween there had been other parents among the creatures in that home. She would be the best mother... wouldn't she?
Ryuune's arm around her didstracted Mysidia from the very un-Mys-like thoughts. She churred happily into his side, squawking in surprise at his words. "You think kweh those're adorable?"

Ryuune blinked down at her in surprise, "Of coursse," He said, aghast at the thought that she didn't know that, "Why wouldn't I?" He nuzzled her cheeck affectionately, "I love everything about you Myss," He said, "From the top of your furry head to your cute little feet. I love it all." He flushed a little at the admission but quickly sobered. Why didn't she know that? Maybe he hadn't been clear? The passing thought made him worry. Had he been a bad mate? Would he be a bad father? The worries surged through him from the first thought and he began to worry about everything he had done, and everything he would do.

Kwehing happily Mysidia licked his cheek and then nuzzled beneath his chin -somehow managing in her excitement to be careful of the feathers. Of course she had no idea that she had caused her mate to fret or she would be terribly saddened. It was not that she did not know -in her heart there had never been any doubt. Just sometimes her head was a little slow on the uptake of such details because she simply did not bother to think about them. "I love all of kweh you too, Ryuune!! You're the best kweh bestest mate ever!!"

Ryuune blinked once, had she read his mind? Feeling her snuggle into him, he relaxed, blowing softly on her golden hair. No, she probably couldn't read his mind, she just seemed to say the right thing just when it was needed. He laughed softly, closing his eyes. "Ssso..." He murmured after a moment, "What do you ssuppossse the othersss will think when they sssee the featherss?" He asked, smiling, "I'm sssure our humansss will be ecsstatic."

"Oh I know mine kweh will! She loves when any of her family have kweh young! Even if I don't kweh always go there to visit!" Mysidia purred softly against her mate, shivering happily as his breath moved her hair. Her blue eyes closed to mere slits, unable to look away from those beautiful feathers. Then a slightly perplexed look came to her eyes. "But she looks sad too... looking kweh at the little ones. Even her kweh own. Why would that be, Ryuune? How? To be kweh happy & sad at once?" For one that was always happy, it was difficult for the chocobo numa to grasp. It had been so long since the time she missed Ryuune so much that she had saddened that Mysidia had put such sadness from her memory.

Ryuune smiled, "I know Ssskye will be very happy asss well, ssshe hasss been wondering for sssome time about it." He tilted his head down to look at her curiously, "Sssad?" He repeated, wondering for a brif moment if it was Mysidia herself she was talking about, but soon realizing that she was still talking about her friend, "Oh...perhapsss there isss sssomething that isss ssstill misssing in her life then? Perhapsss ssshe doesss not feel whole becaussse sssomething isss not there." He tried to explain it but he didn't know the original problem, so he could only guess.
