The snow was slowly starting to melt. Winter's glory was ending and the grass started to show through the white bliss once again. Admiring what remained of the frozen terrain, Tanenbaum, a green steed in himself, wandered thoughtlessly. His favorite season was winter and his coat clearly reflected that. Rustling green and white wings, his continued toward an icy lake, normally a gathering place and water hole for the Soquili, that was still frozen over and glistening in the sun.

Poinsettia and holly made a pleasing combination in the winter's entry. And so it suited the entrance of the wandering mare, oblivious to all but the withering weather surrounding her. Snow now melting had made its lasting impression on the mare; some parts of her were now remnants of it. The snow also offered a cushion to her steps, and made it seem as if she were walking on clouds. The leaves in her adornments had begun to droop once the winter-sustaining force had willed them to hibernate come next season.

Golden horn glistened as it pointed towards the sun as the mare raised her head. She had been stationed by the frosted glass-covered floor, and noticed a green shape venturing near. A peek rendered more colors surrounding the shape, and she turned away, figuring it was the sun's glare playing tricks on her vision.

Carefully, she strained her neck to reach the ground with her horn and moved it in a fashion that formed a distinguishable albeit crude imprint of the poinsettia that adorned her neck. "To show that I was here," she teased to herself.

Tanen stood quietly, pausing momentarily to feel a still nippy breeze blow over his coat, yet he was warm as his semidark pelt attracted the rays of light from the sun. His hooves started to sink into the snow, a spongy layer of grass supporting them underneath. His braided mane swayed in he wind, causing bright colors to blur in front of his face. The light being reflected off the ice was beginning to hurt his eyes, so he tuned in to reailty and started to trot.

Soon, however, a shine caught his eye. A glimmer of gold in the distance. Unsure of what the object was, but intruiged since it glowed much like the lights that adorned his hair, he started to travel toward it. Trotting forward, he kept his yes locked on the spot from which the light eminated, his hooves kicking up chunks of snow, revealing splotches of grass among the white tundra. The shine, his star, caught his eye again as it moved down, and then back up a few moments later, and again he wanted to find out what it was.

She would have been absorbed in her last moments with the white slush that she had favored since childhood if it were not for the beckoning presence of something... almost familiar, but still strange to her. She carefully and quickly wiped away her childish print on the ground with her tail and turned. What seemed to be a moving tree was.

No, it couldn't be... A light smile touched her mouth when the green shape was revealed to be one of her kind. Winter had seemed to bring its children to its funeral to keep each other company.

"Hello," the green mare said soothingly, and no more, for the silence she was confined in for most of her recent days had also become a useful friend.

She stepped slowly but with purpose towards the stallion to complete their journey towards each other. His dazzling array of colors around his hair, she had to admit, intrigued her, having never seen such a thing. Perhaps, with due time, she would get to know this stallion inside and out...

"Whatever compelled you to wander where the winter blooms are wilted, and the floor wet from the sun's wash, kind sir?" she asked innocently, her head angled in a way so that she was not facing him directly.
