Am I the only one who's noticing that Gaia's kind of going event crazy lately? We just got done with the anniversary and they're like 'WOMG ST. PATRICK'S DAY GUYZZZ' which I've been on Gaia for three years and I don't remember ever having a St. Patrick's Day event. Granted, this would be a good thing...if the event items didn't suck like George Michael in a men's room[/tasteless]

Thoughts?

I agree. The "event" thing (and yes, I put it in quotes) seems to be just something like a n00b magnet. Everyone goes and swarms the event, getting all the items. Then all the items flood the marketplace and prices for the items go down to nearly nothing (usually).

I say instead of having so many events, they should just temporarily put holiday/event clothes/items into the stores around Gaia. That way, prices would remain constant, the store items would change/rotate, and there wouldn't be so many n00bish people flooding the event forums (which is why I don't go to forum events in the first place).[/rant] (sorry for such the long post)

There HAVE been way too many events lately. And I wish they would make more items like donation items. Things with multiple poses or whatever instead of just spewing off hundreds of other items.

Besides, its annoying as hell to try to obtain an item that is 20k when you have no money to begin with.

Well, considering the quality of the current donation items, I'd say that would be a bad idea. They just keep getting progressively worse and glittery.

@Blossa: Don't apologize. I agree with you. Gaia is being more n00b-friendly these days and I'm like 'WTF?' because I remember the days when you had to WORK for gold...by pollwhoring.

I like your avatar. We're just saying that most of the new donation items have some glittery aspect to them. And most n00bs tend to put on as many big, glittery items as possible. Much more glitter than you have. smile

Agreed. I think the most recent donation item I've liked was the dark halo since it allowed you to have imitations of ridiculously expensive items.

It's going to be funny to see people use those masks. They're ridiculous. Although, I know there will be 1 or 2 that actually know what they're doing and will surprise me :p

Also, I'm considering this to be my final avi:

What do you think? Too glittery?

I'm personally proud of it. The colors match well:

Theme = blue and purple
Scarf = adds purply
Shadow spirit = emphasizes purple and with the placement of the wings, looks like the wings are blowing away a magical dust of some sort
Gwee = matches eye color
Microphone wings = matches pixie and together with the pixie adds another dimension/feel to the avi
Pants = near black with a slight shade of purple
Shoes = black

I'm looking too far into things, but it was my first impression smile ... maybe because for some reason I feel a flow between the style and/or colors...

So, Now all I need is 30k and I can complete this.

It has a nice flow but your clothing colors are way too dark and muted to look entirely good with the glittery purple. The glitter kind of stands out extremely with it rather than blending into the avatar and the wings and mic don't really fit the rest of the darker blues.

But that's just me.

Maybe with this new release of items, I'll be able to find something that could constitute a style for me avatar. I feel like I have no idea what I should wear because I am bad at layering things on Gaia and can't tell what goes well together. Will anyone help me with my avatar style? Please check the avatar subforum - I'll be making a post there for ideas for me to wear. smile
