I think that you have a weak grasp on form - your characters' eyes are
all uneven and things just generally seem out of proportion. It looks to me like you are using incompatible references if you are using reference at all?
I really think that you should be focusing on your proportion and form before you begin practicing coloring -- no amount of shading skill will properly compensate for the fact that the figure is off.
yes crooked eyes and big fluffy hair (that doesn't fit very well on the head) is a problem of mine.
Because I frequently get a comment about the eyes being out of line I've been specifically lately trying to bring them back in line, when I remember to pay attention.
I think alot of my problem with crooked eyes comes from drawing on a tv tray cocked at an angle on the arm of the couch. And a lack of editing after the inital sketch. I sketch messy and when I figure I'm happy with it I ink. And call it a day. Also, no I'm not using refrences.
I have a reputation for finishing artwork quickly and every time I do I tell myself...slow down. If you just slowed down...blah blah blah. But, I do this in my free time. Hence the reason I don't pursue any kind of cash related art profession.
