Please don't take this the wrong way, I don't mean this in an offincive way, I just don't understand. This is directed towards Cathlics but also aplies to other denominations.

Ok, so here's the story. My Cathlic friend and I were running for cross country when we got into an argument about saints and the Pope. He said that The Pope has speacial powers or something and that everyone was suposed to prey to saints. I said that the only power the Pope had was the power to lead, which is a great power, but as for supernatural power I'm not so sure. Then I said that when I pray I go to god about my problems and what I'm thankfull for. My friend then said that I should become a christian. I looked at him for a second, hopeing that he would start laughing and say that he was jokeing, but he wasn't. I waited a couple seconds more and said that I was a christian and the fact that he didn't know that I could beleave in god but not pray to the saints shows his own ignorince. I might have gone too far but I was pissed. Well he freaked out and we didn't run together for a while.

Then latter, during the summer. I had been drinking and the alcohol was messing with my antidepressents. They wernt a good mixture... I went into a panic attack. The natural respons for this would have been to give me my space and try to calm me down. But insted my friend and some other people I know tied me up and tried to throw me into the pool, so I started to freek out even more. I began to kick and yell and tried to get out of their hold. When I finaly broke free I fell to the ground and hit my head. I started to go into a sezure and for some reason they thought I was possesed, of course I wasn't possesed and I stoped shakeing a couple seconds later. Even though I was upset, wit bloodshot eyes and shivering from fear, they held me on the ground and started saying the father's prayer or whatever it's called. Then they made a makeshift cross and started to hit me with it. Well long story short, they curintly think I'm a demon.

There's other parts of this story and plenty of other stories of how my denominational friends have mistreated me for not haveing a denomination.

What I was wondering is if this kind of thing only happens to me or if the catholic or other cherches suport this kind of thing.

Please don't think I hate denominations of christianity, because I don't, I just don't understand what makes my friends do the things they do.

I'm sorry for my spelling and grammer.

I think that your Catholic friends are very mislead. No, not all Catholics act like that. I think that it's misleading to say that the Pope has "special powers" as if he's some sort of a super hero. Dang it, I wouldn't even say that about God. Now, he has "special powers" in that there are certain things that he can do, like excommunicate people. As for anything spiritual, I'm not so certain about the specifics, since I myself am not Catholic. I believe most Catholics view it as a thing where he should be "revered," and same with the saints. The saints are there to be mediators to God. Most Catholics treat other Christians as if they're real Christians, though. In fact, I normally see the stigma coming from the other way around, that Protestants tend to view Catholics as non-Christians.

As for the exorcism thing... haa, no, my Catholic friends know way better. They know that I have mental problems, but that they're all medical, not spiritual. Nah, I really think that it has to do with the person that you're with, because I also know a lot of Charasmatics who might try the same thing. Which is why I will never tell my parents about my mental problems. =/

The bottom line is don't view all of one denomination on one person. Your friends just seem very mislead. If I've insulted any Catholic person, I'm sorry.

Well, this hasn't really happened to me but I agree with Mellonikan, they are very much mislead. I myself haven't met a catholic that acted like that but I know they're out there. I do know that catholics do pray to the saints and I think that is...I just don't agree with it. I believe that the only person you should pray to is God, there is no one else. But then again, my beliefs aren't really like any denominations tha I've researched. So, I'm just a Christian, no specific denomination for me.
