People think that's the pinnacle? It's really not that impressive, cool little line but not mind-blowing.

I don't see why people would be scorned for playing anything, I may not like what they're playing, but at least they're playing. The world needs more musicians.

I don't believe there's any such thing as an untouchable song, just because they can't play it like the band that created it (and who the ******** can?), doesn't mean they shouldn't play what they want to play.

I personally feel that people got it all wrong. Everyone who writes with the topic - What do you think about this popular bands bass solo? It should be more like, dude check out the bassist for Muse! I really like his idea!
Really, its easy to play. Anyone can do it if they learn all the tricks behind it. Its all based around A, D, and E major scales. Beyond that they just put their own choice effects on it. I remember though, it really set myself up in my band with my drummer. He fell in love with the fact that I could play that line, and he thought I was insane. I personally couldn't care less, because my own lines that I wrote were just as impressive, and original.
I'm not shunning the idea that people should play other peoples lines, but the ability to play other peoples lines shouldn't be held up high. Even better we should be writing our own sick lines and posting them here. Then say, dude check out my idea, what do you think about it?
Muse IS impressive, and I am a huge fan of their artworks, but I don't care about how hard music is to play. I care more about how good music sounds, and how well it was put together. As long as I enjoy myself, it could be the easiest punk song in the world. I would be much happier hearing that than listening to a crazy metal solo. Just not my taste. pirate
