~ My Little Time Bomb

"Phew, he's asleep…I think…" Sai let out a sigh of relief as she sneaked out of the infant's room and toward the living room of the apartment. Throwing herself on the couch she picked up one of the notebooks sitting on the coffee table and cracked it open to a clean page.
Quote:

Dear Journal,

Sorry I haven't written in a while but life wanted to toss a road bump at me and decided to give me a child to bring up. Yep, who ever selected me as a mother must have been on heavy drugs when they selected me. Anyways, from what I understand the kid's name is Finn.

What can I say about Finn? He's a very adorable little baby boy but it's very easy to set him off like a mini ticking time bomb of tears! Once he starts crying he just keeps on crying on until I pick him up. Other than non-stop crying he's a very quite and curious little boy. His hand is always reaching out for something even though his eyes are always close and he seems to wiggle around more when the sub's rays are shinning down on him. Maybe he likes to sun bath?

Maybe I'll…

Suddenly a Finn's roar of crying broke the silent apartment. Shooting up from the couch and dropping the pen and notebook she darted in to the room where she picked him up and started to rock him in her arms while softly humming a tune to him.

Looks like she'll write again when she has some more free time…

~It's Like a Walk in the Park!

Finn was grumpy and we all know what happens when a baby is grumpy, everyone within the fifty mile radius knows that a baby is grumpy. What could an inexperience Caretaker do when is child was unhappy? Babies can't talk in the first place so you had to think.

Think…

Think…

Looking outside the window a little light bulb went off in her head as she picked him up and left the room.

Pushing the baby stroller (which she borrowed from a couple a few doors down who weren't using it) outside of the complex a warm breeze brew by them. It was a nice 76 degree day after all so why stay indoors all day?

"Smell that fresh air, Finn! It's better than being cooped up all day!" She cheerily said as she pushed it down the streets.

On nice days like this it seemed that everyone skips work or school just to go to the park. So when the two got there, it was very much a zoo.

Where to go first? The tiny little garden in the middle of the park was good choice. Sure, he couldn't tell what kind of flowers they where due to current state but his caretaker don't help it but to bring them a little more closer to him so he could get a good whiff of the floral scent. Finn did seem to enjoy it, but every once in awhile let out a tiny sneeze.

After the little trip with the flowers she took him toward one of the more heavily wooded area of the park. Once again, even though Finn couldn't see anything his caretaker would see his tiny arms reaching out from the stroller. Picking up a leaf on the ground she waved it around him singing a small tune to him, then placed it in to his hand. When a bird would chirp in the tree he would move his head toward the noise and try to reach up for it.

Of course the walk wasn't completely quite for them since on-lookers at the park felt the need to peek into the stroller and chatted with her on how cute he was. Finn on the other hand, who enjoyed the attention for his caretaker didn't exactly like the attention from the squealing strangers would just simply roll on to his belly and cooed.

As much as they wanted to stay outside and enjoy nature it soon started to get dark out and close to little Finn's bed time. So it was time to go back home. Pushing the stroller back in to complex and in to the elevator she looked down at him. The walk must have done something since he was sleeping more peaceful rather than the tossing, turning, and the constant crying.

Finn was happy and we all know what happens when a baby is happy, everyone finally sleeps well and the child returns to its normal quite child mode.

~ Wonders for the Future

Dear Journal,

None thing interesting to report on Finn lately beside the fact ever since we went out for the walk the daily crying fits hasn't been occurring as much as they use to. Poor guy he must of hated being cooped up inside all day while everyone was out having fun when it was nice out, no wonder why he was so grumpy!

So if he likes being outside by the reaction of yesterday, I wonder what type of outdoors person he be? Maybe he'll enjoy running around in the park while playing Pretend with the other children or kicking a soccer ball around. He could become the kind who likes to sit under a tree and read a book he took out in the library and draw pictures to show off to the other children.

Eh, I must be thinking way a head now. Right now I should just enjoy him as a baby. When he starts to walk I can't think of the worlds of trouble he might cause.

Anyways, I have to get going. I have to put Finn down for his nap.

~ Parakeet!
Quote:
Dear Journal,

Riddle me this, how does a baby who's eyes are always closed some how able to crawl out of a crib without being detected by both the baby sitter and me? I'm even boggled by this event itself. You see...

" I'm home!" Sai chirped out as she stepped into her apartment after a long day of work and school while kicking off her shoes. Seeing the baby sitter she hired to keep an eye on the child she would walk up to her to engage in polite chit chat of "How was Finn?" or "How was your day?" then escorted the Sitter to the door where she waved good bye.

Closing the door she locked it then walked over to Finn's room to check up on him. At this time she knew the Sitter had just put him down for a nap so Sai had to be very quite when entering the room. Tip toeing in she walked up to the crib and peeked in. A blank look came to her face; instead of the little blonde baby she got was an empty crib.

The feeling of panic crept over here quickly. He always stayed in the crib like a good boy, why would he suddenly leave now?! The first logical ( or should I say Illogical) thought was the baby sitter stole the baby, but most likely that wouldn't happen due to the fact Finn would of put up a fuss about it.

So where could he be? Sai swore to herself as she moved quickly out of the room and looked in every nook and cranny of the apartment. He wasn't in her room, the bathroom, the kitchen, or even in the living room! The closet was wide open, was he in there? Nope, there was no baby. What about the lower cabinets of her kitchen? He wasn't in there to.

Darting past a basket of newly cleaned clothing her eye caught something stirring inside of it. Pulling the clothing away she lowered her head and let out a huff. Lo and behold there was our missing Finn all snuggled up next to a stuff animal of a parakeet.

Quote:
...And that's what happened. Now I understand the feeling of that girl in the clothing store who lost her child. It's a very scary feeling to not know where your starlet is. I should be thanking my lucky stars that he wasn't hurt or worse!

...No pun intended...

~ Bite the Bullet

Every good parent knew that you had to take your child to see the Doctor to make sure they where growing up healthy. Today, it was Finn's day to meet this fellow that everyone knew and some what loved.

Pushing the stroller into the office she would check Finn in to the receptionist who cheerily greeted the two and whisked them away in to one of the "cozy" exam rooms. The two didn't have to wait long to meet the older gentleman Doctor who shook the hand of Sai first, then lightly shook Finns before he started the check up.

Finn was enjoying his time with the nice Doctor and the examination due to the fact the Doc would let him play with a few things of his. He would even reach out to the stethoscope to only stuff it in to his mouth resulting in unpleasant taste in his mouth or waving the otoscope in his hands until he needed it. Ah yes, Finn was indeed enjoying the calm before the storm.

"Well everything looks fine." He looked up at the two and with a kind expression on his face. "All he need is a vaccine shot. I'll get Nurse Gertrude to handle that." the Doctor chuckled, and then walked out of the room.

Why did the Doc chuckle? Someone who chuckles like that is never a good sign. The two soon found out when a not-so-kind looking nurse came in caring her tool kit from hell of needles and a bottle of an vaccine. Even though Finn couldn't see, the fact the loud gulp and his care taker made him let out a tiny "wah."

Gertrude looked at the child and stomped right up to it. The nurse wasn't even gentle with the baby, she would just take that baby's arm right out of the warmth of the blanket and jab the needle in with out any warning to both Sai and Finn.

Silent fell after the nurse withdrew the needle from his arm and put a yellow band aid on. Maybe they lucked out? No,not today. Just after the band aid was stuck on the innocent smiling and giggling ended was over and replaced with a wail Sai swore it wasn't even human. Glaring at the Nurse she picked up the crying bundle and placed him in to the stroll where she got out of that office ASAP.

"Oh Finny boy, I hate to say it but you need to get use to it." Pushing the stroller out of the building she knew there was no way to calm him down after his first semi-traumatizing incident from the not-so-gentle nurse so there was only one thing to do.

Just keep walking very, very fast in hopes no one will question you.

(( * Points above to " Bite the Bullet" and Ankaa's Journal* Just in case for those who don't know what happen I suggested you read it before going on with the RP postings.))

It's far to say that one of worst moments in any child's is going to the Doctor's office only to be man-handled like a piece of meat by a disgruntle nurse and having a needle jammed into your arm without any warning.

Today was Finn's day to experience this and boy, did he put up a fuss when it was his turn to happen to him.

Not matter how much Sai cuddled or spoke to him sweetly in motherly tone of voice there was no way to calm him down. Shooting a glare of death at the nurse she placed the never ending wailing blondie in to the stroller and stormed out of the examination room.

Aw geeze, everyone is going to look at me now like I'm some sort of abusive drunken mother.

Letting out an angry huff she stood in front of receptionist's desk (who had mysteriously disappeared at the moment) in the waiting room she tapped her foot while pushing the stroller back and fourth.

Laeri strolled towards the receptionists desk as Ankaa exhaled clouds of black smoke into her caretaker's face. Ankaa wailed inside the stroller as the black clouds rose from her mouth. By now, the guardian's once healthy lungs were as rotted up as a secondhand-smoker's. She blew away some of the smoke when she came to the receptionist's desk and sighed when she saw the employee was not there.

You have to be kidding me...

Ankaa was in great pain. A burning ache travelled from her stomach to her head in only a matter of hours. She released a harsh wail and clung on to her blanket. She couldn't smell anything but smoke and couldn't hear over her screams.

A look of utter fear crossed over Laeri's face as she looked behind her at the other people in the waiting room. They were staring at her and a lady with a baby standing beside her. Attempting to be polite, Laeri gave the woman a small, inconfident smile through the thickness of the smoke.

Finally, another living soul came into the office! The sound of now two very upset infants didn't do wonders for her hearing.

However, since the other care taker was kind enough to smile at her she would only do the polite and smile back. Once again, awaked silence remained in the room. It wasn't until she saw the puff of smoke rising from other stroller that some what give her a good spook.

"Um, Miss." Using a tone of voice that sounded as polite as possible so she could gently break the ice between the two women.

"Your Starlet is on fire."

Finn, the unhappy camper could hear the other starlet crying and in sheer curiously shifted his body toward it.

Laeri's heart skipped a beat and she looked wide-eyed at her babe only to find Ankaa continue to whine and breathe out smoke. She felt a surge of relief pass over her and gave a sheepish smile.

"She's not on fire, thank goodness, but it would appear so, wouldn't it? She's actually been exhaling smoke lately, it can't be good for her lungs."

The caretaker glanced over at the woman's babe. He was so cute, but the sound of his screams were intolerable. Perhaps she was a new caretaker as well. Still smiling, Laeri asked, "is this your first time as a caretaker?"

Ankaa a faint noise over her cries. It sounded like a rustling sound, similar to the one Laeri made after yawning and falling onto the couch with a few blankets. Anki gasped. Were there two Laeris? Two people taking care of her would be so much better than one. That would mean more hair pulling and adventures. Ankaa eagerly stretched her hands outward towards Finn and tried to see if she could grab something of Laeri's in order to prove to herself that there were really two.
PostPosted: Fri Feb 02, 2007 7:09 pm

Now there's something you don't see daily, a little baby breathing out smoke as if it's some kind of dragon. Smiling and nodding at her she moved her head to the side and chuckled to herself and the odd situation.

"Yeah, I'm new to whole Mothering type of thing. I can't say it's been heaven on earth ever since I got the little guy, it's more like hell." Sai would break out laughing at her own twisted joke.

Was there another person closer to him? Hearing a new voice did spark his curious side of as well as the light thump when the other Starlet was on the couch. Should he stay put? After all he didn't want to give his care taker another heart attack after the parakeet snuggling incident.

So, he decided to play it safe for now and shifted himself closer to the opening of the stroller and stick out an arm as well as clump of hair that followed. If something was really out there then he would have feel it.

"I know, stars have been really collicky lately," Laeri said with a slight chuckle at the woman's remark and watched the woman's baby head towards Ankaa. She shifted onto her other foot feeling a bit nervous. She knew how much Anki loved to play with hair, and hoped that her babe wouldn't notice the hair dangling right above the stroller. If Ankaa found the kid's hair, then life really would be hell. "So... How has your kid been?"

By some great power, Laeri silently prayed. Please, don't let Ankaa touch the kid's hair...

Ankaa smelled it. She smelled it through the stench of the smoke and through all the scents of the waiting room. That fresh scent of well-shampooed hair could never escape her nostrils, and forgetting the uncontrollable pain in her head and stomach, she followed the scent and reached up as far as she could to grasp the hair. When her fingers, lightly brushed it, a smile crept on two her face. She reached a little farther with both hands now and gave the innocent, unexpecting starlet's hair a good, strong yank.

Although she was in great and terrible pain, Ankaa gave a whole-hearted laugh and released more trails of smoke into the air. She was so incredibly happy there was proof of two Laeri's, that she yanked the hair a second time and even harder than she did the first. She could tell it was going to be a very good day.

"Well, the first few days with him were very trying. All he did was cry even if I looked at him funny! I finally broke down and took the little guy out to the park, ever since then he's almost been a little angel." Pausing for second she thought about her own statement while rapping her fingers on the stroller's handle.

"It makes you wonder if crying is some sort of secret language of babies."

The first yank caught him off guard cause him to go silent. It did hurt a little bit but not as bad as the needle that was jab in to his arm. On the other hand when he felt the second yank on his blonde locks hurt even more than the needle.

Why wasn't anyone stopping this? If no one would then he would have to do something! Take a deep breath he would cry even louder and sound more aggravated. Finn would even flail around wildly in the stroller to try to break the grasp of the hand. During his flailing he even found a way to knock out a stuff animal and bottle in his panic!

If this didn't grab anyone attention then none thing will.
