He'd done his talking. He'd done his thinking. He was now acting on the things he'd said and the thoughts he'd had. It was time to stand up... To come flat out and say the things he should have said in the first place instead of dancing around waiting for someone else to say them.
Damnit, it was time to be a man... Er... Stallion.
He stood at the edge of the forest, watching for movement in the camp that had been formed by the two natives. He knew that the mare lingered around here ofte... And, if he was lucky, he could catch sight of her and, somehow, talk her into coming away from him so that they could talk. The odd little foals were around and he was still of the opinion that talk between adults was not for the ears of little ones.

She had been staying as far away from the twoleggers and their foals as long as she could. The little black one seemed to think it was the most entertaining thing to try to tug on her tail when she wasn't paying attention. Actually the foal tried even when Rogue was looking right at her so it was even worse.
She did sneak back occasionally to get treats from the man when the little ones were asleep. Thankfully as she waded though the river after a nice bath the little ones didn't notice. They were having too much fun chasing each other around to notice her off behind them.
She'd been trying her best not to think of Remy and she'd succeeded for about an hour. Then she'd gone running and her mind had wandered back to the times that he went running with her. He had more important things than that now. He had a family and you couldn't go running off to play when you had little ones to take care of. Shaking her head she leaned down to take a sip of the cool water to clear her mind or at least try.

Hearing a splash in the river that fed the lake he turned slowly, picking his way over branches that had fallen under the weight of the snow that was begining to melt. He stood watching her for a moment, glad that it was actually her that he had found and no one else.... She was beautiful when she thought that no one else was watching... Too bad he had to disrupt her peace.
He whickered softly, giving his little head a toss to alert her to his presence. he hoped that she didn't bolt. He'd found the courage to come talk to her about all of this after everything... And he didn't think he could wait any longer.

She heard the whicker after a moment and slowly lifted her head. That wasn't the stupid brown stallion that the two legger seemed to 'own'. That was Remy. Turning her head she looked across the distance between the river and the forest edge to where he was standing.
Damn it what was he doing there? He was suppose to be with his family.

He remained standing where he was, eyes lingering on her slender face. He looked down after a moment, clearing his throat before speaking. "You gonna invite me over, chere? Or am Ah gonna have ta say whatever it is Ah came ta say from here?"

She bit back a comment about the lake being free and that she couldn't stop him from going anywhere but just barely. She wasn't suppose to be snarking at him. Well maybe she should. Then he'd go back to his family and not try to apologize to her.
"You can go where you want Remy." That wasn't much better than snark. "I'll listen .."

He took a few almost uneasy steps towards her, pausing every now and then as if making sure she was still where she'd been when he last looked. He stopped on the other side of the water, leaving it between them as his eyes drifted up to seek hers. Now that he was there he didn't know exactly what to say... He'd thought of everything but he hadn't expected to just... Loose his words.
"Chere..." No, that wasn't the way to start it. She had a name... A name that wasn't the same thing he called every female. "Rogue..." He let it roll from his tongue, deciding he rather liked the way it sounded. "Rogue... Ah don't know what's goin' on. Don't get why Ah feel like a silly weak-kneed foal every time Ah hear your voice... Don't know why Ah felt so bad knowin' you was somewhere feelin' jus' as bad if not worse... Jus' know that Ah did." He closed his eyes for a moment. "Seein' you like d'at? It made me think that Ah never wanted ta see you so unhappy ever again."

She was surprised to hear him say her name. He always called her Chere rather than actually using her name. He wasn't suppose to be trying to fix anything and trying to talk to her. He was suppose to be taking care of his family.
"Remy .... " She was going to ask him why he was here but he'd said it hadn't he. He'd been upset that he'd hurt her. She'd almost ignored that little part in favor of just being mad at him. He was, well, actually trying. He should get points for that. ".. it hurts"

He swallowed hard as he stepped into the cool water, letting it swish against his legs as he crossed it to bring himself up on the bank next to her. He couldn't finish this talk from the other side... As much as he wanted her to be the one to come to him he knew that he had to go to her this time.
"Ah never meant ta hurt you." He stood off to her side, leaning in to gently brush his nose against her shoulder before drawing back. He had to make it through this and then let her make her decision. He couldn't lead her with actions and he wouldn't use pretty words. The truth... He'd use the truth.
"You may not want ta hear this... But Ah have to tell you. Ah owe you da truth, ch-- Rogue." He nodded slowly, letting out the deep breath he'd taken in before continuing on. "Ah met her before Ah met you. It was one o' d'em things you don't think about... Somethin' d'at jus'... Happens. Then Ah met you and mah world turned upsi'down."
His eyes closed as he focused on what he had to say, knowing if he looked at her now he might not be able to finish. "Ah have a past. Everyone does even if it ain't da same kind o' past. D'at past always gonna be a part 'o me. It somethin' d'at makes Remy who he is. As much as Ah want you to want me... Ah think Ah need you ta need me more."

She'd never been one of those people who said things like that just happened. Those were things you were suppose to think about and make good decisions about. Then again Remy wasn't the kid of stallion that seemed like he'd really think about much of anything before he did it.
"You should be careful Remy. Girls may call you a scoundrel but for some reason girls are attracted to that kind of man." It didn't make any sort of sense for any girl to be attracted to someone like him but there she was thinking she missed him and hurting because of what he did.
"I don't mind your past Remy. I ... I mind not being told." If he'd told her that he had a family it wouldn't have hurt that bad but she'd had to learn by having one of his foals run into her. "I had started to think that it was fun being with you and then ... then that foal runs into me and i find out you've been happy with someone else." She shook her head after a minuet. "I can't take their father away"

"Chere..." He coo'd softly at her, unable to keep himself from touching her any longer. He brushed the tip of his muzzle against her neck gently. "You can't take somethin' away when it a part o' someone. Can't take me away from them no more d'an you can take d'em away from me..."
He pulled back once more, letting his eyes drift back up to hers. There was something there in his eyes... Something that seemed to be searching for something in hers. "D'you need me, Rogue? Or should Ah jus' wander back into da woods an' try to forget everythin' Ah said? It'd be hard... Forgettin' all o d'at."

She really didn't want to admit anything. She was suppose to be strong and able to stand on her own. She wasn't suppose to need anyone but herself but she was finding out that maybe needing others wasn't such a bad idea.
She looked at him for a moment before stretching her neck out and rubbing her nose against his. "Maybe i do."

He closed his eyes as he returned the gentle nuzzle. "Jus' maybe? 'Cause Ah puttin' myself on the line here... Lettin' you see me all vulnerable an' such... An' all you can give me is a maybe?" He was teasing her now... There were slight traces of it in his voice mingled with a warm tenderness.

"Don't push your luck Remy." She huffed. "I'm still upset with you for not telling me."
She wasn't going to forgive him that easily but at least she was making progress. She could admit that she felt weird not having him around and that she liked it when he was but that didn't mean that he wasn't still a scoundrel.
