No, there isn't one (that I know of) razz
I acually just want to know what would you're reactions be if there ever was one?
Also, that being said, what would a Movie about Faerun be about?
Probually Drizzt, being the best known, but what part?
the war with Akar Kessel? the quest for Mithral Hall? or something else altogeather?

I picked mortified. Having seen the movies based off Dungeons and Dragons, I can only imagine that one based off Forgotten Realms would be equally mind-numbing. Though, I have to admit, the DnD movies did both have their amusing moments, even if they weren't any good as a whole. ^_^

Now, if a Forgotten Realms movie were to be made as well as Lord of the Rings... I'd be one very happy fangirl. 'Specially if it was Servant of the Shard. Of the Drizzt books, I dunno. Probably the one that he first appeared in. I can't for the life of me remember the title. redface

I've taking about this alot with my sister since I started reading the books and we always come up to the same snag, how would they show the underdark?

I'm just afraid they'd screw the whole thing up V_V They'd have to put like millions into it then i'd be happy =D

It has the potencial to be good or bad. It would hopefully be a large budget movie.I'm not sure what or what the subject would be.

If it was showing a city, there wouldn't be a problem, since the drow use faerie fire a lot for decoration, and that would cast light. Out in the wilder areas would be the big issue. Though if the movie were made in the Underdark, it'd probably be from the viewpoint of a drow, so it'd probably be entirely heat vision.

Have you seen the D&D movie or any game film?

I don't think they would make a movie about one of the three Dark Elf books, at least not as first
if they made a Drizzt movie I'm pretty sure they would make it some sort of adaptation of the Icewind dale series...

I think it would be cool if they did make a movie about Faerun, and start with the Dark Elf Trilogy. The movie would have to be animated, because it would be hard to make 20,000 dark elf populace all with ebony skin. Or even someone who can sword fight like Drizzt or Enteri.
I say animated or anime styled. but it would be hard and expensive to do live action. My only concern is if they'll follow the books enough or not.

Also, there are Forgotten Realm books coming out in comic book style, i own one.

Have you've seen any movies resently?
sword fighting and making one's skin black aren't that difficult to do in live action movies

also, another reason I say they sould go with Icewind Dale instead of the Dark Elf Trilogy is it's more open ended with more relatable charicters
first off, Icewind Dale probually wouldn't suffer as much after being adapted into movie format and/or fans probually wouldn't cry for blood over a few changes and it would introduce the rest of Drizzt's gang for posablilities of future movies. If you had Icewind Dale secound or third, it would lessen the importance of the rest of the main chricters <.<;;
the Dark Elf Trilogy however would probually requre alot of changes, all of which would probually serously put off the fans (ie: the fact that the greater part of the book happens in utter darkness for one)
it's also more just Drizzt for the sake of being Drizzt. I'm not saying I don't like the book, I'm just saying Icewind Dale is by far a better place to start. If you want to make a movie like this you want it to relate to a wide audeance, not just D&D and Drow fanboys

not to mention Icewind Dale will create more hipe then the Dark Elf Trilogy, showing Drizzt off near the hight of his skills rather starting off by showing the prossess on how he got so good

it is not difficult, i said it wrong, i'm sorry, it's that its time comsuming to go through with CG and change the charactors skin to ebony. It would also be expensive...

I agree after hearing your thoughts, that the Icewind Dale Trilogy should go first. It also hapens to be the first 3 books Salvatore wrote. My only concern was its similarities to LOTR, but looking again there are distinct diffenerces.

I also think that they should show that it takes lots of training to get as good as Drizzt and Entreri are. Some people need to see the amount of commitment it takes to reach that level of expertise, sometimes people think that they could reach it in a day and not have to practice at all.

not really, sci-fi movies do it all the time
if nothing esle, the reason one might not see it that often is because 'a humaniod of a diffrent color' might look like tacky arter a while...

that might acually work in the movie's faver
more people know about LOTR and there for the simularities might draw in more people
honestly though, comparing something Fantasy to LOTR is fairly reduntent, regaurdless of how much the books acually impacted the series
most fantasy related series had some sort of LOTR insperation in some way, but LOTR had alot of insperation form elsewhere too so I don't see why it's an issue...

meh, I could go eather way here
one one hand, as a martial arts enthusest (both eastern and western) I sort of want to drive the ideas of becoming 'mighty swordsmen' out of the mind of every fanboy that can pick up a stick...
but on the other hand I realise it's tecniclly not my place to do so and it would be easiest on both of us if I just let them get hurt and learn the hard way <.<

i thought it would be, but i see your point, it probably wont make that much of a difference either way

it's a good idea to let them learn the hard way^^ just thought i'd try to save some of them the trouble, but what can you really expect...

Considering the first D&D movie(s), I would be horrified to hear about someone trying to put the Realms into a movie format. But if it did happen, I would just hope that they found a decent director and/or cast. I would prefer they stay away from the mainstream stories because I don't want the movie to "ruin" my own mental image of the books.

Weoll now consider this, they got Peter Jackson to direct the film, that probably be a very good thing,
but...who would play Drizzt?
